For a moment the two were locked together, face to face. Legienstrasse’s expression had still not changed.
Legienstrasse raised a human-looking hand. It split apart, fingers fanning out, forming a shield that covered one side of her face.
A bullet smacked into it and detonated, leaving the hand a smoking ruin.
Legienstrasse glanced sideways, just once, at Agent Skult. The Vindicare had timed his shot perfectly, and any other target would have been felled by a direct headshot.
