  2. Well, hello, Professor. You came all the way to my \nroom to— Oh.
  3. You've brought the materials from your lecture\nI slept through. I appreciate it. Thank you.
  4. I won't do this again.
  5. Don't miss the lectures.
  6. It's rare for a nice professor like you to be so strict.
  7. Please, Professor. You must understand how difficult\nit is for me to fight the demon of drowsiness.
  8. It's not that I want to miss lectures...exactly.
  9. Drowsiness is my archnemesis. For some reason I\njust can't seem to win against it.
  10. Just talking about it makes me sleepy...
  11. Let's wake you up with a bit of training, then.
  12. A trip to town might help your mood.
  13. You're not motivated enough.
  14. Oh no, I couldn't possibly. I would certainly injure\nmyself if I tried to train while drowsy.
  15. That sounds more than a little exhausting. I think I'll\nstay in.
  16. It's not that I don't have enough motivation.\nThe problem is that I don't have any at all.\nNot for useless things.
  17. I must compliment you though. By this point in\nmost conversations, I'm bored senseless.
  18. But I'm enjoying this. I wonder why... What is it \nabout you that fascinates me so?
  19. You're definitely a strange one.
  20. I'm not strange.
  21. Maybe so.
  22. In truth, your very nature is odd.
  23. You're definitely not a commoner, but you don't \nseem like a noble, either. You're...something else.
  24. And yet you can wield one of the Heroes' Relics.\nYou're like a hero in some silly legend.
  25. Or you could be a villain who came here to enact\nsome evil plot. That wouldn't surprise me either.
  26. I'm not a villain.
  27. Is that what you think?
  28. Hey, Professor... Will you ever allow me to\ninvestigate that Crest of yours?
  29. It won't hurt a bit, I swear. I'm sure I could find out\nall sorts of things about your Crest...and you.
  30. Of course, I'm not as experienced with such research\nas Professor Hanneman, but I do what I can.
  31. Someday, I think I might like to become a Crest\nscholar. You never know.
  32. Hm...
  33. Oh, don't trouble yourself. I didn't mean now.
  34. I've got a lot of other research I'm working on at\nthe moment. I tend to start a project, get bored,\nand then leave it be.
  35. I might be ready to investigate your Crest soon.\nI'd have to tidy up a bit first.
  36. On that note... Goodnight, Professor.

  39. ...
  40. What are you doing?
  41. Are you thinking about the battle?
  42. It's just... I was wondering why it seems as if no one\nvalues their own lives.
  43. Why do we fight until we die? Why do we kill\nwithout hesitation?
  44. I hate it. I don't like taking lives or even the sight\nof blood.
  45. In the last battle, some of the soldiers under my \ncommand died for foolish reasons.
  46. Those soldiers could have pulled back...
  47. Instead, they kept fighting...and were overrun.
  48. Am I supposed to be satisfied with the victory alone? \nEven at the cost of such life?
  49. No, I couldn't be satisfied with that.
  50. Yes, I could be satisfied with that.
  51. Exactly. I don't see the point.
  52. Honor? That's a foolish reason to give your life. \nGlory? Even worse.
  53. Really? I—
  54. Trading someone's life for a bit of honor and glory...
  55. You'll pardon me if I say I find that repulsive.
  56. Just the thought frightens me. I'm not suited for\nbattle, Professor.
  57. That's not something you can control.
  58. There are some fights you can't run from.
  59. I'm happy you feel that way, but...
  60. It seems like so much in our world is decided by who\nwins or loses a fight. Very little is accomplished via \ndiplomacy or even simple decency.
  61. I suppose that's the nature of the world, isn't it?
  62. Professor, you take the time to lead me and teach me\nlike this every day...
  63. Professor, you take the time to lead me and guide me\nlike this every day...
  64. Could the reason be that you don't want me to die\non the battlefield?
  65. As long as I'm here, I won't let you die.
  66. We'll make it through together.
  67. That's a bold statement, Professor.
  68. But for whatever reason, I want to believe you...\nYou really are a strange person, you know.
  69. Professor, I wish to ask something of you.
  70. I...I don't want to kill. I don't want blood on\nmy hands.
  71. I just want to lie on my back and soak up the sun\nfiltering down through the trees...
  72. And I want you to help me make that a reality.
  73. And I want you to help me make a world where\nthat's possible.
  74.
  75. A Support
  76. Hmm... Ah, yes...
  77. Professor. What brings you out so late?
  78. I heard a strange voice.
  79. I could ask you the same.
  80. Oh, um... That was likely my voice.
  81. I've been worrying about something...
  82. I asked you once to help me achieve my goal of \nbeing a person who can simply nap all day.
  83. I once asked you to help me make this the sort of\nworld where I can simply nap my days away.
  84. Then I thought, if the world becomes a peaceful \nplace, all my Crest research might be for naught...
  85. Why's that?
  86. Well, I don't see how Crests have much use in times\nof peace.
  87. Certainly there are Crests that make you stronger\nand could be used in engineering.
  88. And I suppose Crests that increase magical abilities\nmight help doctors heal injuries...
  89. Still, the possibilities seem limited.
  90. It's as if Crests were designed to be used only in\ntimes of war.
  91. Their power meant to bring about death\nand destruction.
  92. Maybe you're right.
  93. I don't really understand.
  94. I cannot prove what I say is true, but suppose for a\nmoment that it is...
  95. The longer this war goes on, the more useful my \nCrest research becomes.
  96. But if the war were to end today, we would go on\nliving, perhaps not using the power of our Crests\nat all.
  97. It is truly my dream to be a Crest scholar, but I also \ndream of all the wonderful naps peace would bring.
  98. Saying it all out loud, it feels a rather stupid thing to \nworry over. Knowledge or peace? Sleep or war?
  99. It's not stupid.
  100. You shouldn't worry about it if it's stupid.
  101. Thank you, Professor. I appreciate the sentiment.
  102. You know, you're right. In the end, maybe it's not \nthat stupid after all. It certainly isn't to me...
  103. Although, if I stop researching Crests, I'll have one\nless excuse to spend time with you.
  104. Professor. Don't make faces like that.
  105. People like you who listen to my blathering and\nthen nod and smile as though what I say matters?
  106. People like you are very precious to me.
  107.
  108. S Support
  109. Professor, I've been waiting for you.
  110. How did you know I was coming here?
  111. You're livelier than normal.
  112. How much time do you suppose we have\nspent together?
  113. Enough that I believe I can predict how you'll feel\nabout something.
  114. Oh, is it noticeable?
  115. I imagine we've spent so much time together that\nyou understand everything about me by now.
  116. The truth is...I want to ask you a once-in-a-\nlifetime question.
  117. Once-in-a-lifetime?
  118. Um... Yes.
  119. I know that the end of the war hasn't granted you\nlimitless free time...
  120. But you must have more time on your hands than \nyou did during the war, yes?
  121. Would you spend that time with me?
  122. I want to know more about you. I want to solve the \nmysteries that surround you.
  123. I don't think I'll ever meet anyone more intoxicating\nthan yourself.
  124. I want you to be mine, and I want to be yours.
  125. Here is proof of my desire. Will you accept it?
  126. Of course. I love you, Linhardt.
  127. Oh, thank goodness! I don't know what I would have\ndone with myself had you turned me down.
  128. Though, I feel like I've come to understand rather\na lot about you.
  129. So I didn't honestly think you'd reject me.
  130. Wow, you're very confident.
  131. Hmm...
  132. Oh, just wait. I will understand you even more.
  133. You doubt me? But I was proven correct the very\nmoment you took the ring.
  134. You'll see. I will come to understand you even more.
  135. Our future together has only just begun.
  136. Before I become bored of this business, I wish to \nlearn all there is about your Crest and your strength.
  137. And perhaps we'll even come up with ways I could\nhelp you guide Fódlan.
  138. I as a Crest scholar and you as a leader of Fódlan...
  139. We will take our first steps together into this new \nworld, the two of us working as one.
  140. Once things settle down, we can retire to \nthe countryside.
  141. A place where the air is fresh, the lakes are full of\nfish, the sun is warm, and where we may nap deeply.
  142. I should've known this was about naps.
  143. I'm not into napping...
  144. Without naps, life is nothing but work!
  145. I value you too much to let you spend your whole\nlife laboring for others. You're the hero of Fódlan\nafter all.
  146. Besides, naps are the entire point of retirement!
  147. It may be some time until we can nap beneath a tree, \npeaceful sunlight filtering through the branches...
  148. But when that day comes? To have you there lying \nby my side...
  149. Paradise. And we will have made it so.
  150.
  151. Prom/Tower
  152. Professor, you're late.
  153. What do you mean?
  154. We didn't have plans to meet.
  155. Oh, sorry!
  156. To tell the truth, it was an act of sheer hope that I \nmight find you here.
  157. True, but a young man can hope to accidentally \nbump into someone.
  158. My apologies, Professor. It was a bit of a joke.
  159. I've been waiting here because I thought you might \ncome by.
  160. I'm glad to find I was right.
  161. I hoped to find you so I might ask... Well, I would\nvery much like to research your Crest.
  162. Not right now.
  163. Why would I let you do that?
  164. Does that mean you might be interested eventually?
  165. Let's decide the place and time right now, then.\nWhat? Is that not acceptable?
  166. Because it would be terribly interesting?
  167. Anyway... Have you heard the legend of this place, \nProfessor? It's a sentimental one to be sure.
  168. The story goes that if two people share a vow at the\nGoddess Tower, they'll be bound together forever.
  169. Hm, or was it that they'll be cursed forever? One or\nthe other for certain.
  170. All the same, I think it's a rather lovely legend.
  171. It doesn't sound that lovely to me.
  172. Tell me more.
  173. Well, I suppose it does depend on your enjoyment of\npotentially mistranslated myths.
  174. Professor, be warned. This may seem forward of me...
  175. However, let's vow that one day I will be allowed to\nresearch your Crest as much as I please.
  176. I think not.
  177. Excuse me?
  178. I've overstepped my bounds again, haven't I?
  179. It's just that today is such a special day and, well,\nI suppose I got caught up in all the excitement.
  180. How about this instead? Let's agree to meet here\nagain one day, just the two of us.
  181. If the opportunity arises.
  182. I agree.
  183. Such an opportunity won't just arise, we have to\nmake it happen for ourselves. I look forward to\nthat day.
  184. I look forward to that day.
  185. I really do...
