Tsuen is a peculiar little region, off to the east of here and on the west side  of there. It has a long and interesting history, going back to the days of  honor and chivalry, and ending with the nights of industrialism and  recreational creature fighting for fun and profit. Tsuen was once an industrial  giant in fact, reflected in part by the fact that most of it's surface is  covered in cities and skyscrapers, with suburbs in-between. Most of these  colonies have been abandoned however, due to a major economic crash 20 years  ago, rendering the region poor as dirt and driving most business moguls and all  associated with them out to bigger, better places. These days Tsuen is much  like any other average middle-class region, albeit one with no real organized  Pokemon league.
This all changed a short while back, however, with a series of bizarre  occurrences that put Tsuen back on the map, if only for a fleeting moment. A  mysterious organization known only as "MD", nicknamed the Machina Deus  organization by some inconsequential individual that randomly stuck, rose to  prominence along the many abandoned streets of Tsuen.  Machina Deus marks it's  territory with giant featureless buildings, with no way in or out. Nobody knows  just what goes on in these buildings, but their existence brings about a  multitude of strange events, such as bizarre new Pokemon and supernatural rifts  in reality. Some say MD is a secret government experiment, others say they're  extraterrestrial invaders. Some say they're hostile beings using Earth as a  plaything, others say they're the result of a divine occurrence from Arceus  itself, and worthy of worship. Whatever it may be, nobody was quite expecting the following notice  billed by them to fall into the hands of trainers all around the world:

"Congratulations. You, fair child blessed enough to hold this invitation in your hands, have been chosen to compete in the first and only MD League. This long anticipated event has finally become a reality on this fair day, and only requires thee to retreat thine self to the area known as 'Tsuen.' Bring your baggage, both physical and emotional, and stay with us for high-quality Pokemon competitions. There are but many unclean souls skulking these lands, and we hope this grand glorious gathering will iron the world back in shape.
Those few who complete this competition to it's end will be granted whatever wish they desire. Do not doubt the miracles of MD."

The back of the notices detail that this is a traditional Pokemon league being held throughout all of Tsuen. While it appears to be unauthorized, the Tsuen government has done little to stop the event, and in fact seem to be welcoming it with open arms. Coincidentally, there were reports of 8 disappearances on Tsuen the day these invitations were sent out.

You, the player, have been drawn to the allure of this event in some way or another. However, you're mostly travelling to Tsuen due to being sent by the enigmatic Professor Chiba. Chiba is the leading Pokemon professor of Tsuen, and appears to be deeply interested in the goings-on at Machina Deus. As only a certain level of Pokemon trainers are capable of registering in MD's event, Chiba has tasked you and your friends to gather information for him. More information will be given once you reach his lab.

As a guideline, your character for this campaign cannot be from Tsuen itself. They can however have a relationship of some sort with someone in Tsuen, including Professor Chiba himself. As per usual, you will start at level 1 with 2 level 15 Pokemon. And, for GOD'S SAKE, -DON'T- do anything stupid with your character that warrants you loathing playing the douchehole later down the line. It's far harder to kill you off in PTU than in Pathfinder, so take the time to THINK if you'll be comfortable playing it for an extended period of time. Entire perfectly good campaigns have been ruined this way.
