  1. ! THIS IS ONLY FOR HANS! I don't know shit about making CIAs, and mostly lost interest in this so this guide is probably grossly outdated (last update was in november 2015 prior to adding this line)
  2.
  3. ! DOWNLOAD LINKS from main hackroms' romfs/code ready to be used by HANS: http://pastebin.com/YzHy8kuP
  4.
  5. ! November 2nd: download the new starter pack to update HANS. NSMB2 is fixed, and you NO LONGER NEED TO DELETE THE FIRST 1000 BYTES. https://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/starter.zip

  9. >Intructions on applying a hack on your own dumped romfs (based off KaleoOmega's from PP, thanks):
  10. 1) Before everything, open your game through HANS and mark their titleid (the 8 last digits). You'll use this for the filename on Step 8.
  11. 2) Dump your game with BrainDump. Make sure you have enough space on your 3DS sdcard (at least 1.8 GB should be enough)
  12. 3) Download the PackHack kit, available here: http://pastebin.com/A1s8cmsD
  13. 4) Extract it, open RomFS Extractor and choose your romfs.bin dumped from your original game. A folder named romfs_ should appear at the end
  14. 5) Replace the necessary files with the ones from whatever hack you want to apply. Usually it's an "a" folder you'll paste over the one from your dump. Overwrite the files.
  15. 7) After that, open the PackHack kit again, open the RomFS Builder, and repack the "romfs_" folder. At the end, you will be asked to save this file: use the format "titleid.romfs" for saving this file (e.g. 0011C400.romfs for USA OR).
  16. 8) Place this edited titleid.romfs on the "hans" folder on your SD Card, boot the 3DS, then HANS through HBL.
  17. 9) Just set the ROMFS option to "Yes", then boot your game.
  18.
  19. There are two video tutorials down there for specific romhacks installation, they can give you some idea on what to do if you're lost.

  36. >Instructions to replace a model after you have a extracted romfs:
  37. 1. Open Ohana3DS and click the weeb shit to show the interface
  38. 2. Go to Container and click Open, then go to one of the containers inside the romfs, the model pack you downloaded should come with a readme pointing to the right one(s)
  39. 3. A file list should popup, select the one you want to replace (this is necessary) and click Insert, then grab the file from your custom pack. The compressed size should become "???". Repeat this until you replace all the necessary files from this container.
  40. 4. After you're done, click Save.
  41. 5. Usually you have to replace files in other containers as well, so repeat step 2 to 4 if that's the case.
  42. 6. After everything is replaced you're done, you can repack the romfs again if you want.

  79. FAQ:
  80. >I'm getting a glitched screen after trying to booting with HANS
  81. You didn't name the romfs file correctly. It's the title.romfs, while titleID is the last 8 digits from the long ID hans shows you when you select a game. Also when you set Romfs to Yes, it'll show the filename it'll look for. A common mistake as well is leaving the .bin on the filename, as in title.romfs.bin, if you use Windows, you may need to disable the "Hide extension for known file types" (google if you don't know where this is).
  82.
  83. >Can I play DS hackroms with this?
  84. No
  85.
  86. >Does this use a separate save? Will it corrupt my own save?
  87. No and no. You can load your save as normal in a hackrom and can load your save from the hackrom in your vanilla game. And they're not separated but you can just use a homebrew to manage the saves, for this I recommend "svdt" so you can organize them in folders.
  88.
  89. >Can I play online with this?
  90. No. HANS-launched games don't load patches, and even if it did, you're advised to disable patches for playing hackroms anyways. Since the hackrom and the vanilla game uses shared saves, if you wanna trade something just load the vanilla game instead.
