- Fia is an NPC in Elden Ring. She is also one of the Tarnished, and a fervent follower of the Prince of Death. by doing her questline one may have access to an additional ending, called "The Age of the Duskborn".
- Lore
- Fia was a Tarnished who awoke from the slumber of death and travelled to the Lands Between.
- Fia was once a Deathbed Companion. She would receive the warmth and vigor from a number of champions, and then lay with the remains of an exalted noble, to grant him another chance at life. This was the sole purpose of Fia's existence, and was considered a sacred act in her homeland.
- However, before Fia could bear the noble into new life, she was awakened by the guidance of grace, and chased from her birthplace, travelling to the Lands Between. Here, she would meet a chivalrous knight by the name of Lionel the Lionhearted. Upon meeting the exiled Fia, Lionel declared himself to be her father, and became her loyal companion.
- Despite her exile, Fia still wished to be a Deathbed Companion. In the Lands Between, the death of Godwyn the Golden, the first demigod to die, had led to the emergence of Those Who Live in Death; undead whose spirits did not return to the Erdtree upon death, as was ordained. Those Who Live in Death were hunted by fanatics of the Golden Order, but Fia became sympathetic to them. She wished to be a mother to Those Who Live in Death and became their guardian.
- As such, Fia would be reviled as a foul and rotten witch by those who hunted the undead. She and her followers believed that Godwyn would one day rise as the Prince of Death, and save Those Who Live in Death from persecution. To this end, Fia's followers were prepared to take up arms against the Golden Order and Roundtable Hold.
- Circumstances would compel Fia to stay at Roundtable Hold, her true intentions seemingly hidden from the Tarnished visitors. Here, she encountered Rogier, a spellblade obsessed with Those Who Live in Death, and a Tarnished champion seeking to become Elden Lord. Rogier began an investigation into the events surrounding the Night of Black Knives, which had led to the death of Godwyn, aided by the Tarnished champion. Fia subtly aided the pair in their investigation, pointing them towards the Black Knifeprint, and granted her services to the Tarnished champion, taking their warmth and vigor in exchange for her blessings.
- Eventually, Fia asked the Tarnished champion to deliver a certain dagger to its rightful owner. D, Hunter of the Dead, a fellow resident of Roundtable Hold and sworn hunter of Those Who Live in Death, recognized the dagger and took it off the Tarnished champion's hands. Soon thereafter, Fia broke the serenity of the Hold and murdered D, retrieving the stolen hallowbrand of Godwyn in his possession. Before departing, she asked the Tarnished champion to deliver a warning to the Roundtable Hold not to disturb the death of Godwyn, warning that he would inevitably rise.
- Fia travelled to the very roots of the Erdtree, where Godwyn's mutated corpse lay dormant. Here, she was confronted by the Tarnished champion once again. If the Tarnished has come to deny them of their ways, Fia warns them that they must kill her, for as the companion of Godwyn, she would rather die than abandon her charges. If the Tarnished champion has come in peace, Fia will embrace them and tell them of the hallowbrands; when Godwyn was murdered, his flesh was marked with the half-wheel wound of the centipede, with another half emerging elsewhere. With Godwyn's half retrieved, Fia now seeks the other half.
- If the Tarnished champion followed Rogier's investigation to its conclusion, they may enter into the service of Lunar Princess Ranni, Godwyn's step-sister and the person responsible for his death. As a reward for their serivce, Ranni will grant the champion the other half of the hallowbrand, imbued into her own discarded body. With both halves, Fia may now lie with Godwyn, and bear a new rune. Fia begs the Tarnished champion to become their Elden Lord, by imbuing the Elden Ring with her rune, imbuing the principle of Life Within Death into the Golden Order, thus ending the persecution of Those Who Live in Death.
- Fia bids the champion goodbye, choosing to fulfill her duty as a Deathbed Companion of her own free will, now that she may at last choose the one she lies with. Fia produces the rune, and falls into a deep slumber. She is found by Devin, D's twin-brother, who avenges his brother by murdering Fia.
- Description
- The first time she can be encountered is at the Roundtable Hold, where she will offer to embrace the Tarnished. If the player accepts, they will be given Baldachin's Blessing, which secretly lowers the Tarnished's HP by 5% while in their inventory, but can be used at any time to remove the debuff without consequence.
- Once reaching the Altus Plateau, there will be a new dialogue option ("Talk in Secret") when accepting her offer to be held again. This is when her questline begins.
- Regardless of whether or not the player has already completed Rogier's quest by now, she will offer information on the location of a Black Knifeprint that Rogier would be interested in.
- She also gives the Tarnished the Weathered Dagger key item and requests that they return it to its owner. The Dagger can be given to D.
- Shortly thereafter, D will be found dead at the Roundtable Hold and Fia will announce that she is leaving, while also revealing her connection to Godwyn the Golden and Those Who Live in Death.
- Her final encounter is in the Deeproot Depths at the Prince of Death's Throne. To meet her, you first have to defeat Fia's Champions.
- You have two options when talking to her, but to continue her quest you will need to choose "I want to be held". Then she will tell you that she is searching for the second "hallowbrand", which is the Cursemark of Death that you get from Lunar Princess Ranni's questline. If you have it, you can give it to Fia here so Godwyn can "claim a second, illustrious life". She will award you the Radiant Baldachin's Blessing consumable for doing so.
- Reload the area to get more dialogue, then reload the area again to find Fia having fallen asleep. You can touch her to enter the "Deathbed Dream", where you will fight Lichdragon Fortissax. Defeat the dragon and you will find the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince on Fia's body. It is needed for one of the game's endings.
- You can not talk to Fia again and also can't attack her. If you have given D's twin brother his armor set, he will show up and kill Fia (although it is questionable if she wasn't already dead), claiming revenge for his brother Darian. You can pick up Fia's Hood and Fia's Robe where she was lying. Rest or reload again and Darian's brother will be gone, having left behind the Twinned armor set and the Inseparable Sword.
