A police dog?

Alexithymiaa: -Steph was in the process of tossing the pasta, chicken and sauce together in a big bowl now that all the parts of dinner had been finished. She was doing a pretty decent job of cleaning as she went, so most of what was left would be the dishes from the table, and the bowl the food was actually being served in. She was looking a little worse for wear right now because she hadn't been sleeping the last few days, but make up is good. "Dinners ready!"-
Covet: Cadence had been Sitting at the Dining table, having helped out a little bit to at least set the table, becauese she felt bad about Steph doing all the work. She was getting Trick set up in his highchair, handing his bottle over to him, smiling softly as she watched him. // Felix heard food and got up off the couch, shoving Titus along with him because Titus felt the need to share his couch. Nugget was on his back in the giant dog bed that Titus never used, fully enjoying the fuck out of it. " I'm starving and smelling you cook is always torture."
Alexithymiaa: "Well you know how much I love to torture you." She said with a smile, picking up the bowl and walking it over to set down on the dining room table. "You can get that dished up while I get the salad." She told no one inparticular, turning to walk back into the kitchen to grab the tossed salad she made and some tongs for it.-
Covet: Cadence looked at the pasta and went about dishing herself up, because Felix still had a bumm arm, "Can you grab the shreded chicken for Trick? And di you want to give it to him?" She asked, Dishing up some pasta for Felix, knowing not to put any on Steph's plate. // "I am a masochist though, and absolutely love it." He said with a smirk, then sat down, "Thanks Cadence."
Alexithymiaa: "Got it." She said to her as she grabbed the plate of just the plain baked chicken she'd shredded for Trick, walking back into the dining room and setting his plate in front of him in the tray of the high chair, setting the salad down in the middle of the table before taking her seat next to Felix. "Everyone wants salad right?" She asked, not waiting for answers before she started to dish that out.-
Covet: "Yes, please." Cadence said, as she looked over at Trick who was now playing in the chicken because it was stringy, "Look, Watch mom." She said to him and picked it up, putting it in her mouth. "Mmmmm" The kid just watched her then looked at the chicken and went back to playing. // Felix nodded, "Extra for me please." He told Steph then watched Trick, "Why does he get to play with his food?"
Alexithymiaa: -She deposited salad on everyone's plates before setting the bowl down, picking up her fork to stab at some lettuce. "Because he still uses a diaper. And no, you're not allowed to use a diaper again until you're much older." She told him before looking over at Trick. "Maybe playing hard will mean he'll sleep well."-
Covet: "She's got a point, it's either that or eating foods that are allowed to be played with." She said digging into her food. " This is probably the best meal I've had in a while. Thank you, again." // Felix furrowed his brow. "I'm playing with my dino nuggets next time." He mumbled digging into his food with one arm, doing his best not to jerk around at all.
Alexithymiaa: "You're welcome. I wanted to do something nice for you, and dinner needed to be made anyway. Plus everything took me a while, so it kept me busy." She said, forcing her smile onto her face because she did still feel like an asshole. She poked at a tomato with her fork, bringing it up to her mouth. "I cannot control how you eat your dino nuggets."-
Covet: "It's appreciated. You say I need to relax, but I think that you do. You look like you're trying really hard to not look... well.. like shit, and I mean that in the nicest way possible." Cadence said to her. "I pretty much relax all the time... You don't even know. But you'll have Trick tomorrow, for a bit for me right? I have an.. appointment... tomorrow."
Alexithymiaa: "Wow Cadence, tell me how you really feel." She said with an awkward laugh, looking down at her plate. "Yeah, I'll have him tomorrow. I have a few errands to run so I was going to take him shopping with me. We're going to go to the pharmacy and to get some groceries and to see Gabby. He likes riding in the shopping cart." She stuck a piece of lettuce in her mouth, looking at Felix. "Do I really look like shit?"-
Alexithymiaa: (This is the "Do I look fat" question)
Covet: "No I mean that out of concern, I swear." Cadence said. "Sounds good. I'll only be a couple hours, then I'll be home again, so if he's too much, just let me know. I can cut it short and come take him if you need." She said. // Felix looked up from his food, lost in shoving it into his face. "What? No, You look tired, but You've been busy fussing over me and here."
Alexithymiaa: "No, we'll be fine. Gabby loves him almost as much as her cat does and he seems to like them both too so we might spend a little extra time there." She set her fork down, picking up her napkin to wipe her mouth. "Well I mean I am tired, but I really haven't been sleeping the last few days. Obviously I haven't been putting enough concealer on, too." She started to laugh, trying to play it off like this wasnt awkward.-
Covet: "Okay, He does love his kitties." She said looking at him, watching him finally dig into the chicken still not sure how to feel about it. "What's got you not sleeping?" She asked starting to slow down on the eating. // Felix looked at her and smiled. "You've got nothing to worry about. Everything is going to be okay, My surgery went good, The window will be finished this weekend for us too."
Alexithymiaa: -She gave a jerky shrug, toying with the salad on her plate. "It's not even that. I just feel like... it was so easy for them to break in. And realistically there was nothing to stop from them taking anything, or hurting anyone once they were inside, before the cops actually showed up. I had nothing to defend myself, and I was essentially by myself since all the animals went and hid. I'm just uncomfortable."-
Covet: "I'm sorry... I know the feeling especially without having Titus here. He's gotten pretty protective of Trick so I know we'd be safe if anything happened." Cadence said. // Felix frowned, "What can we do to make you feel safer? Cause, there's only so much we can do, we've got the alarm system, we can get you a taser?" He suggested.
Alexithymiaa: -She frowned as she listened, her facade of everything being fine becoming harder to keep up now that they were actually talking about it. "I want that." She said in a small voice. "I want a Titus to be protective over us and our children. I don't want to have to be close enough to someone trying to hurt me in order to tase them."-
Covet: "So, then why don't you get a bigger dog then? But to have them properly trained to your needs, you might have to go the puppy route." She said always pro animals. // "If you get a new dog, I want to get a hedgehog." Felix said because fair is fair.
Alexithymiaa: "I really didn't want to adopt a puppy..." She started, thinking about how hypocritical she would be if after all her advertising of older dogs, she got a puppy. "I want a dog that's like... twice my size and anyone would think twice messing with." She said before looking at Felix. "What are you even talking about?"-
Covet: "You're still going to therapy right?" She asked pushing her plate away, "Maybe you could get a trained service dog? I'm sure the ones trained to deal with the blind have to have some sort of protection training too." Cadence said though she had no idea. // " You're talking about getting a new dog, If you get a new dog, then I want to get a living prickly cactus rat." He said. "What about adopting a retiring Police dog?"
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah, I'm still going. I haven't been since the break in though. I usually go on Sundays." She set her fork down, her appetite escaping her as she settled her hands into her lap. "I guess if you really want a hedgehog, we can get a hedgehod. But Im telling you right now, you're the one cleaning that tank. I hate having to clean up after animals in cages and tanks." She paused to think for a moment. "I guess a retired police dog wouldn't be a bad idea. Im just a little concerned that if they're retired, they might not be in the best shape to be considered a guard dog."-
Covet: "They tend to retire them out after six or eight years, I think. So they're not all that old, they can becom accustomed to the smells they're supposed to search for, and then they aren't as benefitial for the force. But that would be a dog that would have the protection skills you're looking for." Cadence said with a nod. "Though I might look outside of Portland for such things, cause I'm not sure you can trust the Portland cop dogs, any more than the cops." // Felix grinned, "I'll totally clean it out, I had a lizard when I was a kid, Seb and I found him when we were dicking around in the back yard once. He lived a long happy life and was well fed and taken care of."
Alexithymiaa: "Hey, if there's any part of the Portland PD I trust, it's the K9 unit. And even that's stretching it." She started to laughm, tucking her hair back behind her ear. "I guess I can look into it. I just don't know how long that's going to take, and I don't know how many more days I can go not sleeping. The last time I wasn't sleeping like this was..." She paused, her words getting stuck in her throat. "It wasn't good."-
Covet: "I know you aren't big on pills and shit, but maybe some meletonin or just an over the counter sleep aid might be a good idea, that way you know you're not getting to that point?" Cadence suggested getting up to get plates cleared up. // "We can go check it out this weekend. Maybe if we kiss their ass a bit they'll move on this shit." He said pointing to his shoulder indicating the initial accident.
Alexithymiaa: "I don't know..." She started, glancing at Felix. "They should be moving on that regardless. Did you talk to anyone at the school about getting some legal help?"-
Covet: "First of all, Melatonin is all natural, I've got some if you want to see how it works for you. Some of the sleep aid ones are also all natural too." She told her, "Are you fucking kidding me? They haven't done ANYTHING with that yet?" Cadence said annoyed from the other room. // "Not yet, I figured I'd get on that once I'm in a bit of a better shape and back at school next week." He said to her.
Alexithymiaa: "I guess I can try it, but not being tired really isn't the issue." She told Cadence. "Please talk to someone. This is getting ridiculous. It's already ridiculous." She corrected, standing up and beginning to help clear the table. "I dont understand why everything has to be so difficult all the time. When are we going to catch a break?"-
Covet: "I've been asking myself that same question for months." Cadence said working on getting Trick out of his high chair to get him cleaned up. // Felix tipped his head back, "I don't know. But things will always come back up. It's just going to take time. I'll make sure to talk to someone on Monday for sure."
Alexithymiaa: "Thank you." She said to him, leaning down to kiss his lips. Heading off into the kitchen, she left the plates in the sink to rinse off before the dishwasher stage, walking back into the dining room to get the food to transfer into containers. "I just dont know how much more of this I can continue to do. We're only human."-
Covet: "We've got eachother, between all of us we can keep eachother at least mostly sane." Cadence said. "I'm going to get him ready for bed and probably head there myself. Thank you for cleaning up and dinner." // Felix pointed at Cadence, "Yeah, that. Humans who have other humans." He got up and went into the kitchen to help Steph, which translated to him being a pain in the ass the entire time. "Goodnight Cadence"
Alexithymiaa: -She started to nod, but she wasnt exactly convinced on that sanity thing. "Goodnight Bruce." She said before looking at Felix. "Why don't you go upstairs and get ready for bed and I'll finish down here?" SHe asked, but that was more about keeping him out of her hair.-
Covet: "No, I don't want to go up without you." He said with a frown and pouted at her, chosing to stay anyways, chosing to find ways to distract her and make her laugh while she was busy doing the cleaning things.
