  1. Sep 17 22:28:01 --- Wildbow has changed the topic to: "Worm RP Campaign: Lausanne || IGN time is est. December 15th, 2001 || Lausanne Doc: http://goo.gl/8Khb84 || Currently Playing: Teruzi, Pink, Gundor || Room Status: IC"
  2. Sep 17 22:28:24 --- Teruzi|Matador is now known as Teruzi
  3. Sep 17 22:29:04 --- Teruzi is now known as Teruzi|Matador
  4. Sep 17 22:44:43 <Wildbow> The plaza is dusted lightly with snow, surrounded by tall buildings. In the daytime of the summer, it's the sort of place that businessmen and office workers might spend their time off, enjoying the sunlight, with very little wind due to the surrounding buildings. Now, in the dead of winter, it's vacant and empty. One by one, individuals gather.
  5. Sep 17 22:44:52 --- Pink is now known as Pink|Sigrdrífa
  6. Sep 17 22:44:59 --- Gundor is now known as Gundor|Prête
  7. Sep 17 22:47:24 <Wildbow> "Let's greet the locals," Beowulf suggests. All local members of the Suits are gathered. Beowulf, Durandal, Coup De Grace, Prince Lutin, Printaniere, Prête, Sigrdrífa, Muete, Brillante and Matador.||
  8. Sep 17 22:51:54 <Pink|Sigrdrífa> Sigrdrífa stands up smoothly from her seat at the nadir of one of her rings, floating in midair at chair height. She is looking somewhat more relaxed than the ladt public outing, probably the result of a good night of sleep. "No blitzing?" she asks with a chuckle.
  9. Sep 17 22:56:12 <Teruzi|Matador> "Later for sure." Matador kicks the snow around him "You must be freezing in that costume"||
  10. Sep 17 22:59:40 <Gundor|Prête> Prête smiles and waves in her somewhat bulkier looking costume and approaches the others, looking at them one by one as she greets them formally in french. ||
  11. Sep 17 23:00:43 <Wildbow> "I take point in the discussion?" Muete murmurs, "If there's something I couldn't possibly know, one of you step in."
  12. Sep 17 23:00:53 <Wildbow> "Agreed," Beowulf says.
  13. Sep 17 23:01:14 <Gundor|Prête> <assuming she's close enough> Prête nods silently.
  14. Sep 17 23:02:07 <Wildbow> Usually, in these sorts of meetings, there's a crowd. Here, it's a small army. Thirty capes in total, spread out in a way that suggest that none of them have a large team. Solos, duos, trios.
  15. Sep 17 23:03:33 <Wildbow> Their attitudes and costumes both come together to suggest that few are major players. The quality isn't all there, or it's piecemeal, or it's obvious the gear is in dire need of repair. In attitude, they're like the kids who haven't done their homework, hoping to avoid the teacher's attention. A crowd all trying to hide behind themselves.
  16. Sep 17 23:05:17 <Gundor|Prête> ((Does the count of 30 include our party?))
  17. Sep 17 23:05:33 <Wildbow> ((Yes - in total))
  18. Sep 17 23:05:56 <Wildbow> One woman in gold feathered armor sits on her own, a spear at her side. Another woman, her blond hair cut short, wears flowing black clothes, with the largest group that isn't the Suits present - four young men and women, teenagers, flanking her. Opposite is a bulky man, fat, with tatoos crawling all over him, no shirt or coverings, his eyes pale.
  19. Sep 17 23:07:14 <Wildbow> "One hundred and forty capes in town right now, and the guys here are the only ones standing between the rest and utter ruin," Durandal comments, his voice low, but carrying in the cool winter air.||
  20. Sep 17 23:11:34 <Gundor|Prête> Prête resists the urge to put down a sphere and get a feel for all the present powers. A surprise sphere of solid light would _not_ be helpful here.
  21. Sep 17 23:12:54 <Gundor|Prête> "Heroes face worse odds twice a year." Prête whispers, her face pensive. ||
  22. Sep 17 23:18:31 <Pink|Sigrdrífa> Sig resists the urge to elbow Prête. Not funny. Not cool. She raises her brows at Matador, barely visible behind her mask. "Swedes are used to the cold." Actually, she is fucking freezing, but she hides it pretty well, and her boots at least are practical for the snow.||
  23. Sep 17 23:18:51 <Teruzi|Matador> Matador puts a hand on Prête's shoulder. "Yes. We can't let the odds stop us from doing the right thing.". He glances at Meute and waits for her to go on.||
  24. Sep 17 23:20:12 <Gundor|Prete> Prête doesn't flinch in response to Matador's hand. No, she does not react at all, except that a close observer could spot her mouth shifting from pensive to expressionless. ||
  25. Sep 17 23:20:51 <Wildbow> "If there's no objections, I'll chair this meeting. Is French acceptable?"
  26. Sep 17 23:21:28 <Wildbow> There's murmurs, and everyone signals assent. The blonde woman in black raises her hand, "My student will translate for me, if that will not distract?"
  27. Sep 17 23:22:22 <Wildbow> "That's fine," Muete says. "I've recently arrived, and I've yet to be filled in on what's going on, but I suspect there are many locals who are in the same boat. I'd like to give Beowulf, my fellow in the Suits, an opportunity to illuminate what's been going on. He and the other early arrivals have been active these past two weeks, and they have some basic information to share."
  28. Sep 17 23:24:27 <Wildbow> Beowulf clears his throat. "What we know is this. There are presently twenty four individuals in power armor in Lausanne right now. The armor appears to augment and complement their existing powers. The graffiti we have all seen around Lausanne suggests the number of occupied 'seats'. If one is vacant, the local guests know they can visit one of a number of landmarks to find out which."
  29. Sep 17 23:26:57 <Wildbow> "As we understand it, the vast numbers of individuals to come to Lausanne are doing so because of an ongoing rumor or offer circulating in villain communities. If one proves their worth and removes another from an appropriate seat, they can take the spot for themselves. If they do, to put it simply, they'll be able to become something far, far stronger. No obligations to join a team, they can be hero, villain, or mercenary, but they'll have to pay a fee and return with regularity to have their armor maintained."||
  30. Sep 17 23:29:29 <Gundor|Prête> Prête listens and closely watches the crowd's reactions. Her face shifts to a neutral half-smile as her curiosity is at work: what do the local heroes think of this? ||
  31. Sep 17 23:33:45 <Pink|Sigrdrífa> Sigdrifa obviously isn't in much position to comment on people doing ridiculous things for powers. She watches for reactions, though, specific ones from any particular individuals. Crosses her arms, vaguely thinking about the bull-bitch they'd fought.||
  32. Sep 17 23:33:59 <Wildbow> The other major figures, the golden armored woman, the blond, and the fat man, all seem to be unsurprised.
  33. Sep 17 23:37:50 <Wildbow> "Capes from halfway around the world are coming here in hopes of becoming great," Beowulf says. "With the pressure the Endbringers pose, many see this kind of augmentation as a route to survival. The true concern lies with what happens when we're not simply dealing with the bit-rate villains, but greater villains seeking more power. This may be the ultimate goal of whoever or whatever is managing this system. Given the number of suits, probably a pair or trio of tinkers, maybe with one trump."||
  34. Sep 17 23:38:27 <Gundor|Prête> Prête raises her hand to speak. ||
  35. Sep 17 23:38:41 <Wildbow> "Go ahead, Prête," Muete says.
  36. Sep 17 23:38:43 <Wildbow> ||
  37. Sep 17 23:38:53 <Gundor|Prête> ...
  38. Sep 17 23:41:42 <Gundor|Prête> Prête takes a step forward, solemnly. "Something I'd like to state: this cannot continue if Lausanne is to. Many residents are moving out, buildings and infrastructure are being torn apart, would-be heroes are dying, and people are coming to fear and loathe pretty much anyone with powers by association. You're here because this is your home. We need to work together to save it." A pause. "We've not been here long, and we're not native to this city. I imagine some of you have better sources of information than us. If anybody has any information the group could use beyond what we know, we all need it." ||
  39. Sep 17 23:46:17 <Teruzi|Matador> Matador crosses his arms and looks at Prête. He decides to not say anything and instead look at the people in the crowd. Surely someone else rolled their eyes.||
  40. Sep 17 23:46:34 <Pink|Sigrdrífa> ||
  41. Sep 17 23:48:06 <Wildbow> "The death count is rising," the woman in gold armor says. "The fight grows more vicious. The public is getting more uneasy. People are carrying guns. If someone has an idea to suggest, I will be happy to hear it."
  42. Sep 17 23:48:55 <Wildbow> "There's a theme to the identification of the twenty four," the fat man says, surprisingly articulate given his somewhat unkempt, barbaric appearance. "If we unravel it, we can make sense of the code."
  43. Sep 17 23:49:31 <Wildbow> "Or," someone says from the sidelines, "We could put a mole in the ranks of the candidates, and feed information to everyone here."||
  44. Sep 17 23:53:09 <Pink|Sigrdrífa> "If we can contact them, we can surely do better than JOINING them," Sig suggests. "Especially if one could be taken alive."||
  45. Sep 17 23:53:30 <Gundor|Prête> ...
  46. Sep 17 23:53:47 <Gundor|Prête> Prête winces at the reminder of how close they got to capturing The Bull on the first day. ||
  47. Sep 17 23:54:03 <Teruzi|Matador> ||
  48. Sep 17 23:54:09 * Pink|Sigrdrífa carefully avoids looking at Prête as she says it.||
  49. Sep 17 23:57:36 <Wildbow> "We can begin," Muete says, "By dividing territories among ourselves, so there is less overlap. We can exchange contact information, so that everyone nearby can converge on a threat location. If anyone needs resources to better accomplish this, we may be able to tap the Suits for assistance or funding. The real question is what our end goal is going to be."
  50. Sep 17 23:58:02 <Wildbow> "Killing the tinkers in charge of the group, clearly," the blonde woman says, in English.||
  51. Sep 17 23:59:05 <Pink|Sigrdrífa> "Given their recruitment tactics," Sig comments back at her, "Who is to say that the tinkers ARE in charge?"||
  52. Sep 17 23:59:09 <Gundor|Prête> ...
  53. Sep 17 23:59:19 <Teruzi|Matador> "Are you out of your mind? Imagine the good even one suit would do next time an Endbringer attacks. Killing the tinkers should be a last resort."||
  54. Sep 18 00:01:09 <Gundor|Prête> "I'd settle for putting them away." Prête pauses. "I should say that I have a trump ability that could help them... be of use to society, instead of merely dying. I can, when prepared, copy powers," she grins, and continues, "I would be better able to work with anyone who stops by our base of operations later and lets me explore how to use their power." Turning serious, she concluded, "Obviously, if I recognize your power and you advise me not to use it in certain ways, I will respect that." ||
  55. Sep 18 00:03:20 * Pink|Sigrdrífa managed to keep straight faced all this time... but she can't quite avoid wincing now. Next she'll reveal the family baked beans recipe.||
  56. Sep 18 00:05:34 <Wildbow> "Do what you will," the blonde woman says, still in English. Her underling translates, echoing her but rephrasing in French. "I'll do what I will. They've been handing out my name, tarnishing it, and I'm here to stop it. I won't be insulted. If any of you would like to take the more direct route to solving this problem, my students will make themselves available. I can make you stronger, just as these scientist types could. It requires no maintenance."||
  57. Sep 18 00:08:13 <Gundor|Prête> ...
  58. Sep 18 00:12:25 * Pink|Sigrdrífa takes a long look at the blonde woman. After a moment, she chimes in. "I am willing to assist with transportation, within certain guidelines." She keeps it simple, though the presence of the circle hovering behind her, the center full of stars, probably gives SOME hint as to what she can do. She chose the view to not give away much more than was already publically known.||
  59. Sep 18 00:13:06 <Teruzi|Matador> ||
  60. Sep 18 00:17:00 <Gundor|Prête> ||
  61. Sep 18 00:20:41 <Wildbow> "It seems we have a divide then," Muete says. "The Suits are not against killing when the situation calls for it, and this is a grim situation with the potential for grave implications."
  62. Sep 18 00:20:49 <Wildbow> She pauses, and glances at Beowulf, who nods.
  63. Sep 18 00:23:16 <Wildbow> "Consider us a middle ground, whatever your approach to these individuals. We would very much like to capture them, but if you insist on being the assassin, we'll work with you too. I don't think any of us want twenty or thirty more enemies in Lausanne. If we find another hero injured, we help them, whatever our ideological differences. If there's a fight, we help each other first, disagree later."
  64. Sep 18 00:23:54 <Wildbow> The blonde woman offers a curt nod. The woman in golden armor and the fat man nod as well.
  65. Sep 18 00:24:48 <Wildbow> "Write down your phone number or email before you leave," she says, pushing a pad of paper forward.||
  66. Sep 18 00:32:17 <Gundor|Prête> Prête clips a wad of her business cards to it and smiled. "If anybody's interested in visiting to experiment with their power with me to prepare for action, please contact me." ||
  67. Sep 18 00:38:23 <Teruzi|Matador> Matador glances at Beowulf before turning to speak to the blond woman. "Of course I will help you do whatever is necessary should the need arise. I just find the waste of tinkertech tragic," he says in his accented English. He bows his head slightly in her direction.||
  68. Sep 18 00:39:25 * Pink|Sigrdrífa remains quiet, having said her piece.||
  69. Sep 18 00:43:24 <Wildbow> "The technology is only a gimmick," the blond woman speaks in English. "The fundamentals, solid training, will make you far stronger in the end, long after the power source dies or the technology is taken from you."
  70. Sep 18 00:43:26 <Wildbow> "She would know," Prince Lutin murmurs, leaning back in his chair. His voice is most likely audible to only the Suits around him. "Word on the street is she and her students have killed five of the armored ones. Refusing the technology."
  71. Sep 18 00:43:28 <Wildbow> "Five?" Durandal says, sounding skeptical.
  72. Sep 18 00:43:29 <Wildbow> The other heroes are starting to pack up, gathering their things. They write their names and contact information, and one picks up Prête's card.
  73. Sep 18 00:43:30 <Wildbow> "But none were the one she wanted to kill," Prince Lutin comments, as he watches the blond woman leaves. "She wanted to kill the armored one who is using her name. Crane."
  74. Sep 18 00:43:35 <Wildbow> ||||
