- Cucali knocked at Paloma's door. "Hey, mossblood! I know you're in there! Quit ignorin' my messages!"
- There was no answer.
- "Ugh! Look! Just stop being mad, okay?!" Cucali hammered against the door with her fist. BANG, BANG, BANG. "I'm sorry or whatever, okay?! So just get your ass over here!"
- Silence greeted her. She paused, and called out, tenatively: "... please?"
- The seatroll lowered her hand as she heard the sound of locks being undone. Paloma opened the door, keeping the chain on so it only came open a crack - and she looked a mess, her hair tangled, deep bags under her eyes. She glared at Cucali, tiredly.
- "What do you want."
- "I want you to talk to me! What the fuck's your deal?!"
- "You know what my deal is. You killed my friend. I won't... I can't forgive you." Paloma began to close the door, but Cucali grabbed it, holding it open.
- "Look, that was business!"
- "I don't care."
- "I'm kinda sorry about that, okay?! Just stop being mad already!"
- "Kinda sorry? KINDA SORRY!?" Paloma roared as she slipped off the chain and opened the door proper. "He was my FRIEND, Cucali!! We had FUN together! We ENJOYED EACH OTHER'S COMPANY! We SHARED SECRETS and HAD HEARTFELT TALKS! And now he's DEAD!!"
- Cucali felt the urge to take a step back, shocked by Paloma's anger, and a conflicting urge to take this lowblood by the throat for daring to shout at her. She did neither.
- "I'm tryin' to apologise for that, okay? What the fuck do you want? Flowers? 'Cause I can do fuckin' flowers."
- "You--!" Paloma slapped Cucali, there, as hard as she could. "You think this can be fixed with flowers?! Damn your flowers!"
- Cucali felt rage welling up in her, and it showed in her face and her forward movement before she managed to get it under control. Paloma didn't flinch, even as Cucali stood right on her doorstep staring down at her.
- "Shut up. You just... you just shut up," Paloma hissed, glaring up at her. "I shouldn't care about you, not after this. I shouldn't. But I do. So I'll consider forgiving you, but... I really have to think about this."
- Cucali was silent. Paloma closed her eyes and breathed out, after a moment.
- "... but if you ever - if you EVER - lay a hand on my friends again, I'll make you pay."
- "Ha! How the fuck would you do that when you can't lay a scratch on me?!"
- "Easy. I ignore you."
- "Don't you fuckin' dare!"
- "Oh, look. This is me, daring." Paloma stepped back and slammed the door in Cucali's face, hard.
- Cucali staggered backwards, shocked into silence by the sound... for all of a few seconds. "Come back here! Don't you DARE walk away from me!"
- She only heard silence. Cucali banged on the door again. "HEY!"
- Silence.
- Cucali felt her throat tightening, her face heating up. What the fuck was wrong with her? This was just some... stupid mossblood...
- "Hey... Mossyblood! Just, get back here! Just LISTEN!"
- Her voice cracked as she screamed. And after the moment hung in the air, Paloma opened the door up a crack. She gave Cucali a deadpan glare.
- "Listening."
- "Just... fine, okay, maybe I am sorry. There! I said it!" Cucali's voice was strained. Paloma looked away, and frowned.
- "I..."
- "Yeah?"
- "... I can't just kick you out of my life. So... look. You keep my friends off your hitlist, and we'll be okay... I guess."
- Cucali paused, and looked away from Paloma. "... fine."
- There was an awkward moment of silence between them. Then, Paloma stepped out and wrapped Cucali in a hug.
- "Don't ever do that again."
- "Yeah, yeah..."
