  1. Counts in Long Live the Queen
  2. -----------------------------
  3.
  4. The game tracks several things:
  5. > How many troops you have.
  6. > How much cash (lassi and tilassi) you have.
  7. > How many ships you have.
  8.
  9. Here we address these concerns.
  10.
  11. Starting Figures
  12. ----------------
  13.
  14. * It's difficult to say precisely how many troops Nova starts with; Google says a battalion is "500 to 800" soldiers, and Nova starts off with "approximately 10 battalions" (info gleaned from checking ASAP in-game). The wiki says nothing about Nova's starting soldier count.
  15.
  16. * Nova appears to start with 9,998 gold lassi and 19 silver tilassi in the treasury. (Checked in-game ASAP.)
  17.
  18. * I have no information regarding Nova's starting ship count.
  19.
  20. Week 8
  21. ------
  22. [Can Spend Money]
  23.
  24. The guy who wants to build the printing press will arrive, and if Elodie's Production + Trade = 50+, then she can fund his project for 875 lassi. This can be important, since it enables you to hire troops in Week 15.
  25.
  26. Week 10
  27. -------
  28. [Can Lose Troops]
  29.
  30. If Elodie is somehow already a Lumen by this point, and uses magic to deal with Ixion, there's a Wield Magic 40+ check, and if you pass it, you don't lose any troops.
  31. -> If it's a Partial Success (30-39), you lose a "moderate" amount of troops:
  32. 637 - (Strategy x 2)
  33. -> If it's a Failure (under 30), you lose "a lot" of troops:
  34. 1,750 - ([Logistics + Strategy] x 2)
  35.
  36. If you deal with the matter without magic, you are inevitably going to lose a "moderate" amount of troops:
  37. (Integer (1,032 - 43.2 x (Strategy + 0.2 x Logistics))) + 1
  38.
  39. [Can Spend Money]
  40.
  41. Choosing to pay off Ixion to withdraw is an expensive option even if you pass checks:
  42. -> Accounting + Trade = 50+ = Total Success; you can offer 4,000 lassi for their withdrawal.
  43. -> Logistics 50+ = Partial Success; you can offer 5,000 lassi for their withdrawal.
  44. -> Flunk Both: Elodie will know nothing and won't know any better than to take their request of 8,000 lassi for their withdrawal.
  45.
  46. Week 12
  47. -------
  48. [Can Spend Money]
  49.
  50. If you are NOT wearing Talarist's necklace, a woman comes seeking funding to build a hospital this week. (If you are, this event still happens eventually, just not this week.) If Elodie has Herbs + Battlefield Medicine = 50+, she can choose to spend 1,200 lassi to fund the project. (This has the benefit of lowering the death toll during Week 30.)
  51.
  52. Week 15
  53. -------
  54. [Can Hire Troops]
  55.
  56. If you funded the printing press in Week 8, you can choose to have the guy print army recruitment posters. The wiki states this will specifically add 1 company and 2 platoons to Nova's army.
  57.
  58. Week 19
  59. -------
  60. [Can Gain or Spend Money]
  61.
  62. This is the week Elodie can adjust the royal budget. Accounting 50+ and she'll be able to tell the player how much money is in the treasury during the event; otherwise, you will have to track or guess. Depending on current funds, Elodie might not be capable of lowering taxes, in which case it won't be an option. Here's what your options will actually do:
  63.
  64. > Raise Taxes: You GAIN +3,000 lassi; however, you LOSE -10 Noble Approval regardless, and if your Accounting + Trade total is less than 100, your Commoner Approval will *also* drop -10.
  65. > Keep Them The Same: Nothing whatsoever happens; neither your money nor your approval ratings change.
  66. > Lower Taxes: You LOSE -3,000 lassi; however, you GAIN +10 Noble Approval AND +10 Commoner Approval for your sacrifice.
  67.
  68. Week 23
  69. -------
  70. [Can Spend Money]
  71.
  72. Sabine arrives, and can be hired as Court Musician. This costs 300 lassi. If Elodie passes a few checks (Foreign Intelligence 100, Sense Magic 80+, and Intrigue 20+), you can also test her for being a Lumen, upon which she also becomes a spy for you.
  73.
  74. Week 25
  75. -------
  76. [Can Get More Ships] OR [Can Hire More Troops]
  77. This will likely [Cost Money]
  78.
  79. The wiki is not specific about ship or troop gain numbers in this case.
  80.
  81. If Elodie knows what's going on in Shanjia some way by now, she will be able to get more ships. If not, she can hire more troops.
  82. > Her agents can follow Foreign Threats to learn this.
  83. > If not, Elodie can figure it out herself if Logistics is 70+ AND Trade is 40+.
  84.
  85. If she somehow KNOWS what's up:
  86. > World History 100 OR Foreign Affairs 20+, and she'll assess the situation.
  87. > Trade 40+ (Partial Success): If you get even Partial Success, she can spend 4,000 lassi to add more ships to her fleet.
  88.
  89. If Elodie DOESN'T KNOW of the situation in Shanjia:
  90. > Divination 90+: Elodie will divine a possible future scenario, enabling her to spend 1,000 lassi to expand her army. If she doesn't have the cash, she'll get less troops.
  91.
  92. Week 26
  93. -------
  94. [Can Spend Money]
  95.
  96. If you send aid, it costs 900 lassi, but you gain +10 Commoner Approval.
  97.
  98. Week 27
  99. -------
  100. [Can Spend Money]
  101.
  102. If you named a Novan heir in Week 26, foreign soldiers will invade. This will cost you 500 lassi.
  103.
  104. Week 30
  105. -------
  106. [Can Lose Soldiers]
  107.
  108. If you're NOT in a state of civil war, witness the freak wind, and can divine it (Divination 40+), you can dispatch 1,200 soldiers to take care of the situation, but this means they won't be available to you during the naval battle.
  109.
  110. [Can Gain Money]
  111.
  112. If you ARE in a state of civil war, AND are holding Briony as a hostage, you can demand a ransom; this will get you 2,000 lassi. (It will also put an end to the civil war.)
  113.
  114. If you ARE in a state of civil war, AND decide to actually fight, and win, you'll get a +1,000 lassi tribute.
  115.
  116. Week 32
  117. -------
  118. [Can Hire Soldiers]
  119.
  120. If you choose "Employment" as the tournament prize, it will increase your soldier count. (The Wiki is inspecific as to the size of this change.)
  121.
  122. [Can Spend Money]
  123.
  124. If you choose "Gold" as the tournament prize, Elodie sets aside 100 lassi to give to the winners.
  125.
  126. Week 34
  127. -------
  128. [Can Hire Soldiers]; this will [Cost Money]
  129.
  130. You will always be given a choice if you'd like to increase your army size as long as you can afford it. This will cost 2,000 lassi.
  131.
  132. Week 35
  133. -------
  134. [Can Gain More Ships]
  135.
  136. If you ceded control of your territory to Ixion in Week 10, then Court Manners 60+ will get you a flotilla from Ixion. (This won't cost you any money.)
  137.
  138. Week 36
  139. -------
  140. [Can Gain Money]
  141.
  142. If you won the naval battle without attempting a magic strike (Team Might), then you WILL be holding prisoners at this point.
  143. > Ransom Them All (Requires World History 80+): +1,000 lassi.
  144. > Ransom the Rich, Conscript the Poor: +700 lassi.
  145. > Ransom the Rich, Execute the Poor: +700 lassi, +3 Cruelty.
  146.
  147. Week 37
  148. -------
  149. [Can Lose Money]
  150.
  151. If you killed the enemy commander in a duel after the naval battle, his soldiers will loot your lands, costing 1,000 lassi. (Losses will be mitigated some by directing your agents to watch for commoner uprisings in Week 18, and/or if Elodie is betrothed to Talarisse.)
  152.
  153. If you started an earthquake during Week 36, there will be havoc in Caloris, and the treasury will pay for repairs up to 4,000 lassi.
