  1. "You believe it?" Idalla looked inquisitive, her stubby Dwarf arms crossed across her body. "In the middle of his grand conquest?"
  2.
  3. "Ay, that's what they're saying. Some elven noble, popped up with som' kinda cult. Maatians went to stomp 'em out, got their arses handed to them and sent packing."
  4.
  5. The dwarvish man had finished unloading his cart at the fortresses front, tossing back in the unraveled rope that had kept it in tow over the long journey. "Lady Idalla, thats about all o' it."
  6.
  7. "Thank you as usual, Mel." She nodded as she quickly took count of the various barrels on the ground. She looked at the two metal men beside her, and they began taking the luggage in.
  8.
  9. "See ya taught the bucket of rust not to yel' 'umans so damn much. Ay, anyway, seems tha' kings got som' business he ain't quite settled on his own turf. Hope it means he won't be stomping his way into ours."
  10.
  11. "Mel, as an advisor in such matters, do not bet on it. He didn't cross the sea to show up here and lose. Especially just because a rumor of a small upset between the church and some cult. Um...you said an Elven noble?"
  12.
  13. Mel nodded. He didn't know the details. Idalla wasn't entirely ignorant though. Not as if most elves hadn't gotten a raw deal after the owl war. She knew that much. So if an elf started getting in the king's hair, she had some ideas what exactly the reason might be. After Mel parted, she went back into the fortress of the Wyrmbreaker's, and called a meeting.
  14.
  15. "We can't spare the officers. Not even the juniors. Especially not with Solomon already gone." Stella shook her head. "Especially not on another trek across the ocean. Denied, Lady Idalla."
  16.
  17. Idalla knew better than to argue with Stella. When she made a decision, that was typically the end of it. So she didn't argue. She simply chose to not obey.
