Obruo - First meeting. // Updated

Moving through the harsh climate of the glacier proves to be as difficult as each time you’ve tried before. This fact doesn’t stop you as you march on, hoping to find something worthwhile.

However, nothing new appears on the horizon. There’s just ice, snow and… more ice. A little more than usual, actually. The area in front of you is flat, deserted of any life, and you are almost sure you can see some shapes moving under the ice.

Perhaps it’s not the best idea to continue moving over a potential body of water.

You turn around and head back into the direction of your camp. There’s nothing in view so risking falling under thin the ice is pointless. Maybe next time you’ll have more luck.

The ice doesn’t look too thin to walk on, and the small chance of finding something is enough to make you continue going.

The unknown dark shapes underneath you become more visible. You are able to make out some minor details, but they don’t tell you much about the creatures besides the fact that they are some kind of fish.

Before you can finish that thought, your next step passes through the ice and pulls your whole body into the freezing waters. The wave of cold would be unbearable if it wasn’t for all the adrenaline starting to run throughout your body. You try to grab the ice you fell through to no avail – it’s completely solid, locking you with no way of escaping.

You try using [Magic spell] as your last resort, but it doesn’t do much – it barely melts any ice, the cold waters weakening its effects to almost nothing.

The air in your lungs is dangerously close to running out, and so is your strength. Before passing out, you notice a big shape at the edge of your sight moving close.

You gasp for air, confusion filling your mind as you take in your surroundings. You’re in a rather dark cave, the only light source being some luminescent plants you don’t recognize. By instinct, you move your hand to the spot your [Weapon] usually is and find nothing. That fact does not calm your nerves one bit.

As your eyes adjust to the dark, you make out more details of the location – besides it being a small cave, there’s a pool of water which seems to be the only way in. How you got here is a mystery.

There also appear to be some sort of… trophies? They are in a corner, neatly put next to a wall. You can see various kinds of bones, small, big and a few very strange looking. It makes you wonder what kind of creatures they came from.  However, the biggest surprise is the fact that your is equipment lying there. You quickly get up and get it, checking if anything is missing. Besides the fact everything is soaking wet, nothing is lost.

There’s a loud splash behind you, which you respond to with by turning around with your weapon drawn, only to see… a woman leaning against the floor of the cave? You can’t say for sure. What you are sure of is that she at least looks feminine and closely resembles a human – at least the upper body shape does, you can’t see the rest of her. If it wasn't for the fact that her skin is mostly pale blue, in some areas gradually shading to purple and that there are some strange… horns adoring her hair, she could be easily mistaken for a girl from your village. If you also ignored her long, spiked ears, that is. Her hair is a deep shade of purple, long enough to still be in the water behind her and to cover her C cup breasts in front. The last part of her that stands out is orange eyes – which are starting at you with great curiosity – with their slitted irises.

After a while of mutual starting, she drops a fish she had in her mouth onto the floor, oblivious to the fact that you have a weapon drawn, and climbs into the cave, now sitting in front of you and again starting at you with a tilted head.

Only now can you see her long, sleek tail that ends with four lilac fins and as well as her lack of feet – instead of them, she has two fins on each leg, similar to the ones on her tail but smaller.

After another moment of nothing, you lower your weapon, seeing no immediate danger and suspecting that she might be the reason why you are here.

You start with a simple hello, but the woman simply smiles in response. You wait a minute for her to talk, but nothing comes out of her lips. You start to wonder if she can talk or if she even understood what you said.

Still, without saying a word, she gently pushes the fish in your direction until it’s right in front of you, seemingly wanting you to take it. A friendly gesture, for sure.

You kick it into the water, not about to accept nor eat food from a complete stranger, especially in these lands.

She gasps when the fish lands in the water with a plop and narrows her eyes at you. After that, she quickly dives into the water, making your grip on the [Weapon] tighter. After a short moment, she returns with the fish you kicked before.

Not wanting to appear rude to your potential savior, you take it and place it next to you, not about to eat one raw.

You could try to cook it with [Spell], but it doesn’t sound like the best idea in a small room with a creature that might have never even seen fire.

She suddenly dives into the water, making your grip on the [Weapon] a little tighter. After a short moment, she returns with another fish, about the size of the one given to you.

Without any kind of preparation. she starts eating it, paying no mind to whatever you do.

You try communicating with her again by asking what her name is. That makes her pause her meal momentarily and look at you, blinking a few times and curious about what you just said. But again, that’s as far as you get with getting anything out of her.

After that you say nothing else, waiting for her to finish. Once she does, her attention is entirely focused on you again. The woman starts moving closer to you, making sure to do it slowly, her whole body out of the water now. It’s not clear to you what’s happening, but you decide to wait and see – as long as it doesn’t put you in any danger.

When finally met face to face with her, she moves her arms around you with caution, while never breaking the eye contact or her smile. Only then you feel it – her body is incredibly hot. She slowly embraces you and all of the cold leaves your body shortly after. Her breasts press against your torso, her hands moving across your back as her head lays on your shoulder.

Her gentle hands start to roam over your body, deliberately exploring you and warming up in the progress. Her eyes are no longer on yours, they are in deep focus instead as they follow her curious hands. You can’t help but to feel your body react once they start moving downwards, but before anything happens she breaks the skin contact, the process of warming you up done.

With a silly grin on her face, she backs away to give you space, with the slightest trace of a different color on her cheeks.

Since words didn’t work you try a different approach – you point at yourself and say your name. The woman’s head tilts again, but this time she seems to vaguely… understand? It’s not the same confusion as before. You move your hand away and simply say your name once more. She practically jumps in excitement and points her finger at you.

Progress.

You then do the same at her, hoping that it wasn’t just some accident. The look of her face changes as she tries to make a similar sound to you, ending up with squeals. You can only guess whether it was her name in her language or if she lacks the ability to verbally communicate.

Since pointing at things seem to work, you do it again at yourself and then at the ceiling and move your hand up. Her eyes follow it and lit up when you are done. She points at you, at the pool in the cave and then at the ceiling.

You slowly nod your head to which she claps her hands in excitement. The girl backs slowly backs away, the cave not being the biggest, and enters the water, leaving only her upper body above it.  You follow her and have seconds thoughts if the girl understood what you meant. She opens her arms, similar to the way she did before and motions you to come closer. The idea of returning to cold waters isn’t exactly pleasant but so is staying in the cave forever.

You drop into the water in front of her, immediately grabbed by the woman so you don’t sink. She slowly starts lowering herself into it, giving you a chance to adjust, holding onto her hot body for dear life. Surprisingly, it doesn’t feel that cold, but you know it’s only because she’s warming you up. You hold onto your breath when your head has to go underwater and hope for the best.

Once you’re done, she proceeds to make sure she has a firm hold of you and swims through the cave system. Soon enough, she exists the underwater cave and heads above. You start to notice some light coming from above you and you soon approach the ice barrier. Normally you’d worry about how fast both of you are going, but all you can think of now is how you’ll get past it.

The woman gets closer to the ice, the only thing denying you your freedom, and touches it with her hand. It melts from her touch, way too quickly for some magic not to be involved. Soon enough the hole is big enough and she goes through it.

You gasp for air finally back to the outer layer of the glacier. She raises you up and puts you on the ice and just like in the cave, leans against it.

Even after she’s no longer around you still feel quite warm. You get up, your every move followed by her eyes. It’s the best she can do, as she’s unable to follow you. Well, maybe under the ice, but only for a while.

You find yourself unsure what to do now – the girl just saved your life, can’t really speak nor understand you that well…But there’s still one question unanswered, that being how did you end up there in the first place.

Everything that happened so far leads you to only one explanation – the monster made some kind of trap, didn’t kill you for some reason and let you go. But who is to say that the same will happen to the next unlucky traveler?

You point your finger at the ice surface, your [Weapon] ready in your hand. The girl tilts her head at first but soon enough exits the water, awkwardly moving on the surface. You get into a fighting stance, making your intent clear, but it looks like it isn’t for her.

After a short wait, you simply start moving in her direction.

You stop in front of her, your [Weapon] aimed at her, as a final chance to fight back. Her hand slowly moves over your [Weapon], her eyes full of curiosity, but once it makes contact with the sharp edge she flinches and gasps in pain.

She covers the wound with her other hand, the drops of blood painting the snow red. The happy and curious attitude changing to fear in a matter of seconds. Her eyes meet yours again and all you can see is fear. The girl quickly turns around and tries to get into the water, whimpering during it.

However, she is nowhere fast enough with her hand hurt. Just before she can jump back into the water, you grasp her tail and pull her back, her legs trying to kick you off her. She ends up on her back, looking at you once more, tears flowing from her eyes. The last thing the woman does before you finish her is to point her trembling finger at you.

The life slowly leaves her body, the snow around it quickly changing the color to one of blood. You kick her body into the water with a loud splash.

Another threat in the glacier gone.

You stop in front of her, giving her last chance to fight back. She simply stares at you, unsure why you need her on the surface for. Without giving her a chance to run, you strike her head with your [Weapon] making her fall back onto the ice on her side.

It all happens too quickly for her, as she slowly tries to get up, failing once before giving up. You hear her crying and whimpering as you move in front of her, the [Weapon] ready for another strike. The girl looks up at your face, tears flowing from her eyes. The last thing she manages to do is to point at your with her trembling hand.

After you’re done, you kick her lifeless body back into the water she came from.

Another threat in the glacier gone.

After a moment of thought, you decide to simply thank her and say goodbye, even though she might not understand it. She most likely didn’t, but it still makes her smile as she must have liked the tone of your voice. You wave at her for goodbye, an action she mimics. As you start moving away you glance behind, to make sure the poor thing isn’t trying to follow you by going under the water or out in the surface. All you managed to see is her tail as she jumps back into the dark icy water.

You head back to your camp, the near-death experience leaving you exhausted.
