  1. Expired Domains - Backlinks Query
  2. Hi, I was wondering when you purchase expired domains do you see the backlink quality or the backlink quantity matters more?

  14. For example let's say you see an expired domain with 5,00,000 backlinks. The domain might have been like a forum of some sort. So naturally the backlink quality isn't that great.. So will you go ahead and purchase such a domain just because Moz says it's DA is 50?
  15. Am I missing something?
  16. I think you should also check TF/CF , whois domain for drops if there is any or not. How many back-links from relevant niche. If there is any high authority back-links or not. If DA would be 50 then there should be high quality back-links associated with that.
  17. But it dont stop there ,
  18. you have to make sure that the backlinks have no bad backlinks, and if there are some bad backlinks ,then you ned to use google tool kit to desolve them.
  19. It like this , if you got a bad apple in a bunch of apples, the bad apple will turn the rest bad , it needs to be removed.....
  20. A Heigh pbn domain name must be diffrent name to the main keyword.
  21. The hosting has to be diffrent ,from any part of the main website.
  22. Even the domain register ,needs to be diffrent from the main website.
  23. Hope that helps .
  24. Dont forget that exspired domains once had it own website, you can check that out at wayback online , you might want to even use the old materiel, if it all fit into your project.
  25. Dont forget to always cheek articles from old websites, with copyscape ,but can use other checkers.
  26. So let's say the domain name is -> redapples.com which has backlinks regarding apples so can I use it for a site on "Japanese apples" ? On the contrary, what if the redapples.com had backlinks from technology sites would this be useful for "Japanese apples" ??
  27. The higher the da ,the more authorty the domain will have .
  28. But it dont stop there ,

  37. Quality is the most important in my opinion, I would rather prefer a domain with 3 backlinks from high authority sites than one with thousands of forum links and never trust only on moz and majestic data as they can't see 100% of links the site has.
  38. I have few domains that are considered very low TF,DA etc, but the problem is that these tools didn't saw the links I found out about and these links are indexed in google etc. I bet other people has checked this domain and just by checking metrics on moz etc. decided to ignore and move on, I took it, it's a strong domain I'm enjoying link juice now.
  39. ya i wouldnt even waste much time on DA
  40. another interesting route could be to check the site in semrush and see if it had traffic when it was live
  41. this would show that the site wasnt penalized (if traffic looked healthy)
  42. Metrics are there only for bulk filtering in my opinion.
  43. When I check the domains manually one by one I don't even look on metrics, they are useless.
  44. You should check the backlink profile with Ahrefs/Majestic (Ahrefs database is bigger so I tend to use ahrefs more).
  45. But, this is a game of experience, you will learn how to determine a HQ domain only after checking hundreds of domains.
  46. I may pick domain with TF 3 and not pick domain with TF 20 just because metrics can be manipulated easily but my experience can't lie.
  47. The bottom line - check backlink profile, look for HQ domains and "whitehat" backlinks and not just spammy forum/blog comments links.
  48. Check anchors, this is the fastest way to see if the domain got his power (aka metrics) due to real HQ backlinks or just some GSA spam.
  49. Just my 2 cents, good luck~
  50. Quality and quantity. The more quality links from quality sources the better.
  51. As above ^^^^^^^ metrics are just a number I wouldn't rely on. The recent changes to majestic's algorithm and sudden drop in TF reflects this.
  52. So many people rely on Moz DA and in my opinion it's just a junk metric. I've seen sites with huge DA and they are just completely spammed with junk.
  53. "Quality is better than an quantity".If i were you I would go for quality links than quantity links. As said above metrics are just the numbers which can be easily manipulated by spammers. So always beware of source where the links comes.Check the backlinks profile with Ahrefs before buying.Hopes good.
  54. Metric are great for determining minimum metrics you want to go for. You always have to draw a line somewhere. If you have few hundred thousand domains to go through, you have to set some minimum metrics to make the work load bearable.
  55. Metric are an automated tool basically. They are not precise all the time. Hard to say how often really, but as a rule of thumb, TF15 RD30 domain will in 95% of the cases will be better than TF5 RD30. But as I said, it's just the metrics and the determination of which domain is or isn't worthy comes down to you. Some people want 1 authority link (whatever that is these days), some want at least 5 URLs with TF, some want just TF of the domain and don't want anything else. But yes, some backlinks will always be more welcome than the others. Contextuals are the top, you want these. Then there are various directories, links from link sections, blog comments etc. It's not hard to determine a quality by just havign a click look at where the anchor text is placed.
  56. All of this will come naturally after you will go through a few hundred or thousand domains manually, don't worry. :)
  57. ya i wouldnt even waste much time on DA
  58. another interesting route could be to check the site in semrush and see if it had traffic when it was live
  59. this would show that the site wasnt penalized (if traffic looked healthy)
  60. Check CF, TF, Moz, spam score too
  61. You should use multiple backlink checkers, to create a list of all the backlinks. Also check how many backlinks those backlinks have. The more tier 2 backlinks, the better.
  62. And make sure to check semrush or some other tool, to see if the site was penalized.
  63. It's the quality that matters more. A few quality backlinks can outrank a thousand low quality backlink. A high DA is good, but you have to consider the backlinks and other metrics such as the TF, CF, PA, RD etc.
  64. You can check the backlink potential influnce with a tool like linkquidator.com and get sure you are buying something worthy.
