<Snowshoe> "Depends on how you build it, I'd guess."
<NachtRuine> "Figure more people under a roof'd save wood."
<Snowshoe> Straal nods. "Most likely, and I guess that's our biggest concern at the moment."
<Gara> "Yeah."
<Gara> "I don't know how to build cabins."
<NachtRuine> "Aye, but what I'd give fer a personal cabin. It'd be so nice."
<Gara> "Maybe someday soon."
<Snowshoe> "If we could get those built, maybe. How'd Julien get one?"

<NachtRuine> He thinks. "Hm. Come t' think of it, his was personal. But he was here first, so imagine he'd get that luxury fer that."

<NachtRuine> "Was th' one to point it out. I don't wear magic things. Had a cousin who bought a magic belt once. He wasn't very happy. Well, she now."

<Snowshoe> "If someone else tried it on first, would that make you more willing to wear it?"

<Gara> "Woods."
<NachtRuine> Toki realizes she's not leaving to change and catches up to them.
<Gara> She gets out into the woods, and proves Toki wrong. She pulls out the armor, takes off her top, and puts the armor back on.
<NachtRuine> Toki looks away when she removes her top.
<Snowshoe> Straal waits for Alice to turn into a frog.
<Gara> "How the hell do you wear these things?"
<Gara> Alice is dressed.

<NachtRuine> Toki looks back. "Well, 't's fit fer a dwarf, from what I see."
<Gara> "It's also a million pounds."
<Gara> She starts the laborious process of taking it off.
<NachtRuine> Toki again turns away. "Ya get used to it."
<Gara> She puts her own clothes back on.
<NachtRuine> "When ya ain't got yer armor on, feels like yer missin' something."
<Gara> "Yeah- thirty pounds."
<NachtRuine> He nods, smirking. "Yep."
<Gara> "Now what?"
<NachtRuine> Toki looks back. "Suppose now I put it on."
<Snowshoe> "Might be something to try. Alice doesn't look too dead to me."
<Snowshoe> "Or male."
<Gara> "I certainly don't look male. I mean, hell, look at me."
<NachtRuine> He nods. "True." Toki begins the laborious process of taking his own breastplate off.
<Gara> Alice takes it, hefting it into her bag.
<NachtRuine> Note Toki's muscles as he puts the new breastplate on hesitantly.
<Gara> She certainly does.
<NachtRuine> The breastplate is now on. He adjusts it a bit. "Hm. Bit of a nicer fit, at least. And I ain't got me beard on th' back of me head."
<Gara> "Good!"
<Snowshoe> "Do you feel... womanlike?"
<NachtRuine> "Nae." If Toki were capable of sarcasm, it would be evident here.
<Snowshoe> "Well that's a relief."
<Gara> "Alright.@
<Gara> "Yeah, don't want our mighty dwarven warrior suddenly a woman."
<NachtRuine> He takes a deep breath. "Guess that's that."
<Gara> "That it is."
<Gara> "[Should I tell him?]" Oroo.
<Snowshoe> "[About...?]"
<NachtRuine> "Shall we head back, then?"
<Gara> "[Me and his possible conflicting interests.]"
<Gara> "Sure:"
<Snowshoe> "[You're the two who are conflicting. You can decide. I doubt he'd kill you.]"
<NachtRuine> He begins to head back to the colony.
<Gara> "[And I'm asking for guidance.]"
<Gara> Alice follows.
<Snowshoe> Straal follows Toki. "[I'm not sure whether you'd want to talk it over with Daisy first or not. Guess it can't hurt to make sure he's alright with it.]"
<Gara> "Oy. Toki."
<NachtRuine> "Hm?"
<Snowshoe> Straal prepares for the storm.
<Gara> "What exactly are your feelings for Daisy?"
<NachtRuine> Toki doesn't like where this is going. "Dunno. Think I might fancy 'er, but I ain't sure."
<Gara> "[Damn.]"
<NachtRuine> "Wassat?"
<Gara> "Nothin."
<NachtRuine> "Hm." Toki has learned what Alice's nothings mean.
<Gara> "And what would you be doing if someone else was after her?"
<NachtRuine> "In what manner?"
<Gara> "You're not daft."
<Gara> "You know in what manner."
<Snowshoe> "[Well that's one way to go about it.]"
<NachtRuine> His brow furrows. "Well, back home, two men'd fist fight over a girl. Big spectacle, really a show."
<Gara> "And if it wasn't a man?"
<NachtRuine> The gears in Toki's head turn. He stops and looks at Alice. "Wasn't a matter the gender."
<Gara> "I see."
<NachtRuine> "Really? You 'n Daisy? After you were ready t' tear her throat out last night?" There's a tinge of anger.
<Snowshoe> Straal sighs.
<Gara> Alice's hands travel to her lower arms.
<NachtRuine> "What had that happen?"
<Gara> "I'm not going to defend my self. This isn't a new thing, Toki."
<NachtRuine> A frown forms. "So yer just gonna be with everyone then?"
<Gara> "Actually. No. Fuck this. I don't need to justify or defend myself to you off all people. After you were so ready to take her back to your tent last night. Thank you, /friend/." She turns on her heel to walk away.

<Snowshoe> Straal keeps quiet.
<NachtRuine> "'m actually not. I'd thought about it, and I didn't appreciate it at all. Never got the chance to tell ya."
<Gara> She huffs. "And now I've gone and made a fool of myself."
<NachtRuine> Toki calms a bit. "Yer not the only one."
<Gara> "Honestly, Toki, I don't really know how healthy she is for you. You and her... Stone and fire. She's talked about some things that make me not really know if she knows what she wants."
<NachtRuine> "Stone 'n fire made th' furnace. 'N I think I can decide fer myself what's good fer me. 'm a grown dwarf, fer the sake of the underforge."
<Gara> "Perfectly grown up people fuck up if they don't know what's going on."

<NachtRuine> "'m not just a berserker. 'm a jeweler. 'n 'm a shopkeep."
<Gara> "And when will those be valid things here?"
<Snowshoe> She returns, ready to slosh the first person who tries to stab someone.
<NachtRuine> "When th' colony's grown. But a sneaky, stabby type ain't stable either."
<Gara> "To which I disagree."
<Gara> "I am reliable, and stable."
<NachtRuine> "'n yer not just a rogue, but you've tol' me yer a thief as well. Certainly stable professions if I ever heard 'em."
<Gara> "And a forger."
<NachtRuine> "A rogue thief forger's less reliable than a jeweler shopkeep fighter."
<NachtRuine> "But ya know what? You know everything. Take a second 'n leave me with none."
<Gara> "Ah. That's what this is about."
<NachtRuine> "It's a damn big part of it, aye!"
<Gara> "Toki, okay, I think I need to explain exactly how that works."
<Snowshoe> Straal raises a hand. "If I could have a second?"
<Gara> "Yes, Straal."
<Snowshoe> "Is Daisy interested in you?"
<NachtRuine> Toki tries to cool a bit during this moment. He fails to do so.
<Gara> "..."
<Gara> "Cross that bridge when we get there."
<Snowshoe> Straal stares at Alice, then at Toki, then back at Alice. "Why're we arguing?"
<NachtRuine> He seems quite surprised. "Oh, you'll cross that bridge. Fuck that! Yer tellin' me you're insinuatin' a damn fight 'n you don't even know if she's got her attention on ya?!"

<Gara> "I mostly was trying to make damn sure that I wasn't going to end up destroying our friendship by pursuing someone you are interested in. Or, atleast, giving you fair warning."
<NachtRuine> Toki just shakes his head, as if in disbelief. "Sodding..." He sighs.
<Snowshoe> Straal walks closer to Toki, though she stays out of axing range. "Y'alright?"
<NachtRuine> "No, I'm not bluffing alright. 'm being told she's looking to have you and Alice? Leave me with nothing? Damn right I ain't alright. Not a belly full of fruit beer'd make me happy."
<Gara> "That isn't how it works."
<NachtRuine> "Tell me how it works then. Do we all just pile together and have a lovely happy life? That ain't how things should ever be!"
<Gara> "Why the hell not?" And now Alice is offended again.
<Snowshoe> Straal shoots a glare at Alice. "What do you want, Toki? Preferably without offending anyone while you say it."
<NachtRuine> "That - " He pinches the bridge of his nose. "I want Alice t' stay with you and be happy with that. 'n I want t' be able t' stay with Daisy."
<Snowshoe> Straal turns to Alice. "And you want...?"
<Gara> "I want to be happy with both you and Daisy. If Toki and Daisy are off happy together too, that'd be great."
<Snowshoe> "So, from what I can tell, we know Daisy's interested in you," She looks at Toki, "But I'm not sure you're at the point where you're 'staying together', because I'm not sure you're 'together'. You'd know more about that than I. And none of us know how she feels about you," looking at Alice, "Except as a friend."
<Snowshoe> "Am I right?"
<NachtRuine> Toki nods, hoping this will end well for him.
<Snowshoe> She looks at Alice and waits for a response.
<Gara> "Right."
<Vivax> The wind whistles through the trees in the pause.
<Vivax> Tiny wild flowers lose their pettels and the cloudy sky churns.

<Snowshoe> "So, seeing as Daisy's a person and not property, I think she can make her own decisions. So far, she's seemed far more interested in Toki, and I'm not sure why she'd change that. I don't know why Alice couldn't let Daisy /know/ she's interested, but I think it's ultimately up to Daisy, and so far she's only really shown interest in him."

<Snowshoe> "Unless you want to fight for ownership of her, which seems a little over the line."
<Gara> "... Toki, you mentioned something, back in the temple."
<NachtRuine> "Hm?"
<Gara> "Something about your clan."
<NachtRuine> "Aye?" Toki /really/ hopes she's not about to badmouth his clan.
<Gara> "You mentioned their rules, once."
<NachtRuine> "Mhm?"
<Gara> "On humans."
<NachtRuine> "Right, that recommendation. Well, there's only one other dwarf here, 'n I'm sure as stone not gonna be with him."
<Gara> "Toki, we are first wave. Not last ever no one will ever be here."
<Snowshoe> Straal puts a hand to her face. "Two suggestions. Can I make them?"
<NachtRuine> "'m not worried as much about that, th - Yes?"
<Snowshoe> "One. Daisy's currently interested in Toki, from what we can tell. Let them be, and let Toki worry about himself. Two. Alice, let Daisy know you're interested. Respect what Toki and Daisy want, if they're together, with regards to you. That work?"
<Gara> "At this point, I'm expressing concern. What happens when Toki's clan gets here?"
<Gara> "Why won't they?"
<Snowshoe> "It's his clan. Yes or no to the two points?"
<Gara> "I'm not worried about Toki. I'm worried about Daisy."
<NachtRuine> Toki appears a bit more rational. "How so?"
<Snowshoe> Straal quietly wonders how hard it can be to say yes or no.
<Gara> "Well, it puts you in a tough spot."
<Gara> "Clan or Daisy."

<Gara> "Not if they wanted to keep breathing..." Muttered under breath. Clears throat. "Yes, Straal."
<Snowshoe> "Toki?"
<NachtRuine> In this lapse of super-emotion, Toki says, "'d like t' let Daisy know. She is a person, deserves to know."
<Snowshoe> "Can you agree to go along with what Daisy wants, and letting her know Alice is interested as well?"
<Gara> "I'll handle that next I see her."
<NachtRuine> Toki looks off into the distance. "When two's lookin' at one, one can only look at one." He looks back to Straal. "Fine."
<Snowshoe> Straal exhales, and it looks like a ton of bricks were just lifted off her back. "Praise be. You're both in agreement about how to proceed with Daisy, in the absence of a binding document we have only your word. I expect you both to honor it."
<NachtRuine> "I always do."
<Gara> "Alright." ~I always do, Congradulations.~
<Snowshoe> "Thank you, Toki, for being reasonable about this. Been a pleasure negotiating a contract between the two of you. I'm going to go get drunk now."
<Snowshoe> She walks off to do exactly that.
<NachtRuine> Toki would follow her example, but would rather not walk shoulder to shoulder with Alice at the moment. He takes the long way around to his tent.
<Gara> Alice pretends not to be upset by that and goes to the mess to drink.
<Snowshoe> Straal enters the mess tent, grabs a mug, sits, and drains the thing in under a minute. She drops her head onto the table she's sitting at.
<Vivax> On the way into the camp you catch a glimpse of Urgosh and a company of burly sailors setting up pallisades.
<Vivax> Straal realizes that this is the /same/ spot where Urgosh left his holes.
<Gara> Alice gets a drink and sits with Straal. "[I'm sorry.]
<Snowshoe> Straal hopes the table doesn't collapse beneath her, but hopes that if it held a minotaur all night it'll hold her for an hour.
<Snowshoe> "[I just laid out a contract for Daisy's happiness. And then I asked you both to sign it, as much as such a thing can be signed here.]"
<Vivax> The table fails to collapse.
<NachtRuine> Upon reaching the far side of the camp, Toki grabs his axe and goes to his chopping station, planning to release some anger.
<Snowshoe> Straal is mildly pleased by her continued sitting.

<Vivax> Toki sees a line of ants dragging little fragments of the tree away.

<Snowshoe> "[She wasn't even there for it. We're deciding her future, and she didn't get a say.]" Straal raises her head off the table and looks at Alice, plainly disturbed by this. "[How can I do something like that?]"
<Gara> "[You didn't plan anything.]"

<Snowshoe> "[No, I didn't. In the heat of the moment I decided the best way to solve a problem was by selling a living creature's future.]"
<Vivax> They might be carpenter ants...but they're a bit too orderly.
<Gara> "[You've made me and Toki agree to term. I could break them, if you want.]"
<NachtRuine> "Hm." Toki decides to follow the ants to see where they are taking this wood, axe still in hand.
<Vivax> The ants trail off toward a little ruined pillar in the side of a dune near the colony.
<Snowshoe> "[There'd be no penalty, but I'd rather you not for both Toki's sake and Daisy's.]" She grabs another mug of ale, but she just holds it and kind of stares at a wall of the tent.
<NachtRuine> Toki has a look at the pillar.
<Vivax> The ants are entering the pillar through a tiny hole in an ant-shaped carving.
<Gara> "[You didn't sell anything. You gained nothing.]"
<Vivax> The pillar is obviously of the same make as the pillars of Grippli Island and Water's temple.
<Snowshoe> "[I sold Daisy to you and Toki, and I gained the end of a night's conflict.]"
<NachtRuine> Toki's brow furrows. "Odd." He tugs at the pillar a bit.
<Snowshoe> "[This is the price I sell my friends for.]"
<Vivax> The pillar is loose.
<NachtRuine> He pulls with intent to remove it from the ground.
<Snowshoe> She looks down at her mug, sets it on the table, then lays her head back down.
<Vivax> Give me a strength check.

<Vivax> The pillar is heavier than you thought...
<NachtRuine> Toki better positions himself and tries a pull again.

<Vivax> Ants swarm angrily around, carrying little larvae and morsels of food...
<Vivax> But you also notice that the ants have been building...stairs.

<Vivax> Tiny.
<Vivax> Ant-sized stairs downward below the pillar.
<NachtRuine> "Hm?" Toki has a closer look at these stairs and how carpenters might be making this.
