  1. CURRENT PLAN:
  2. -MAKE THE SERVER CRASH A LOT LESS
  3. Reasoning;
  4. Do I really need to explain why a stable server in a Persistence setting is important. Do I *really*.
  5. *problems;
  6. The people who have the capability don't always have the time or energy. It's going to take a bit.
  7. *solutions;
  8. Go in git yourself if you're reading this and fix things. We only have so many coders and they have limited time with either real life stuff or other issues. Coding isn't actually that difficult. Don't be intimidated and ask questions even if you break stuff. Get a step-by-step instruction online how to start your own test server.
  9. If you see an issue or bug, make the issue on git from the various pins in #bug-report and otherwise and go to our git.
  10. Start looking at code and googling guides to ss13 code and figuring stuff out.
  11. Ask people who are experienced and talk with them.
  12.
  13. -MAKE A SWEET BUT TOO SMALL AND INCOMPLETE STARTER FACTION WITH SOME UNSIUMLATED WALLS AND EASY ACCESS TO GENERIC EQUIPMENT FOR SPECIFIC LOW-DANGER JOBS, BUT NOT TO IMPORTANT EQUIPMENT. INCLUDE NEWSPAPER ARTICLES AND LIBRARY STUFF SO THEY CAN READ ABOUT THE STATION AND HOW IT RUNS, WHO RUNS IT, AND PERSONAL STORIES.
  14. Reasoning;
  15. Gives people things to do right out the gate and have an impact.
  16. A way to get into the "feel" of persistence.
  17. Prevents atmospherics and deconstruction dickery.
  18. A permanently small station will eventually lead to player overflow and the option of player factions allowing people to fall into that when the time is appropriate and having the flow be organic and feel "right."
  19. Specifics should be discussed with the MAN OF THE HOUR, KURGIS who is/did the work with mapping at this time. Don't private message him for or offering favors.
  20. *problems;
  21. Newspaper articles don't properly save. The library does, but it has an issue.
  22. Economy (basically imports/exports) is a bit odd and doesn't support this. [Brawler's working on this(?)]
  23. So does the production of goods (I'M LOOKING AT YOU BOTANY)
  24. *solutions;
  25. more coding basically. some of it is just modifying variables
  26.
  27. -ELECT A CERTAIN GROUP OF PEOPLE TO BE COMMANDERS, BUT MAKE CHANGES AND DECISIONS A MATTER OF PUBLIC DISCOURSE
  28. Reasoning;
  29. Gets things done in a focused manner.
  30. Allows people to have their input despite this.
  31. *problems;
  32. Just a popularity contest! Eh. Most of us are old enough that isn't an issue and have already gone through the gauntlet.
  33. *solutions;
  34. Critical thinking.
  35.
  36. -PLAYER FACTIONS REQUIRE PEOPLE
  37. Reasoning;
  38. Won't spread out playerbase because working with the point of having a small station, people will feel cramped and naturally want this to express themselves.
  39. Will naturally not spread players out because it requires a certain number of buddies to do it.
  40. *problem;
  41. coding
  42. *solution;
  43. coding
