  14. Proper footwork is required, but allows
  15. for a large number of combos.
  16.
  17. Strongarm Stance
  18. A technique that uses Ironsilk to reinforce
  19. both your arms and weapon temporarily
  20. to fend off attacks.
  21.
  22. If used while charging, you can quickly
  23. parry an attack and then unleash
  24. a fierce onslaught afterwards.
  25.
  26. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  27.
  28. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_exname_GreatSword_05>

  38.
  39. Backslide
  40. A quick evasive move using a Wirebug.

  50. Longsword
  51.
  52. Special Sheathe Combo
  53. A special sheathe that can be performed
  54. after attacking. Both of its follow-up
  55. attacks fill the Spirit Gauge.
  56.
  57. An Iai Slash automatically increases
  58. Spirit Gauge. Successfully countering
  59. a monster attack with an Iai Spirit Slash
  60. unleashes a powerful flash and raises
  61. the Spirit Gauge by one level.
  62.
  63. Sacred Sheathe Combo
  64. A slow methodical movement that can be
  65. executed following an attack. Upon sheathing
  66. your weapon, you can harness the increased
  67. spirit to unleash a follow-up slash. The power
  68. of the slash increases according to the level
  69. of the Spirit Gauge. If you are attacked before
  70. you have finished with the sheathe, it will
  71. consume one level of Spirit Gauge and
  72. the move will be cancelled.
  73.
  74. Tempered Spirit Blade
  75. A decisive Silkbind maneuver that
  76. parries any incoming monster attack
  77. with a Spirit Blade.
  78.
  79. Timing is key if you want to successfully
  80. parry an attack, but doing so will fill your
  81. Spirit Gauge and raise it one level.
  82.
  83. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  84.
  85. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_exname_LongSword_07>
  86. A move that casts out Ironsilk, and auto-
  87. matically counters any incoming attack.
  88. Like a reflection of the moon, it's visible,
  89. but untouchable.
  90.
  91. If a hit is countered, one level of Spirit
  92. Gauge will be consumed.
  93.
  94. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  95.
  96. Harvest Moon
  97. A move that casts out an Ironsilk ring that
  98. narrows your range of attack, but boosts
  99. spirit so you can go on the offensive.
  100.
  101. Within the ring, your Spirit Gauge won't
  102. deplete, and if you perform any counter
  103. attacks, it will add additional hits.
  104.

  106.
  107. =========================================
  108. Sword and Shield
  109.
  110. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_ShortSword_13>
  111. A two-hit attack that uses both the sword

  123. and status properties.
  124.
  125. Destroyer Oil
  126. Uses a Wirebug to cover your blade with
  127. a special ointment whose effects trigger
  128. if ignited by friction with your shield.
  129.
  130. While active, monsters flinch more easily,
  131. creating more openings for attack.
  132.
  133. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  134.
  135. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_ShortSword_28>
  136. A technique that uses a Wirebug to leap
  137. forward and attack. If the attack lands,
  138. you will perform a Scaling Slash which
  139. can be chained into various finishing
  140. attacks.
  141.
  142. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  143.
  144. Shield Bash
  145. A combined offensive and defensive
  146. move using a Wirebug to dash forward
  147. with your shield raised. If the attack
  148. connects with a monster, you can
  149. instantly follow up with a variety of
  150. attacks. If timed right, you can even
  151. parry an incoming attack and then
  152. continue your assault.
  153. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  154.
  155. =========================================
  156. Dual Blades
  157.
  158. Roundslash Combo
  159. A slashing attack that allows you
  160. to reposition.
  161.

  163. or change direction giving you the
  164. ability to keep up the pressure on
  165. a targeted spot.
  166.
  167. Slide Slash Combo
  168. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
  169.
  170. This technique allows you to attack
  171. while evading, and if you work it
  172. into your combos, you can unleash
  173. a relentless attack that's difficult to
  174. defend against.
  175.
  176. Spiral Slash
  177. A Silkbind attack that launches you
  178. spiraling forwards. Once your attack
  179. connects, your body acts as a drill as
  180. your blades bore into your target's flesh.
  181.
  182. Note: You can also perform a Spiral Slash
  183. midair.
  184.
  185. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  186.
  187. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_DualBlades_27>

  191.
  192. Perfect for a good start in battle, as
  193. you can jump straight to the heart of
  194. the action without fear of taking a hit.
  195.
  196. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  197.
  198. Ironshine Silk
  199. An ingenious Silkbind technique that
  200. uses turbulence from evading to sharpen
  201. your blades.
  202.
  203. Even with Shrouded Vault, and other
  204. evades, sharpness recovers if you
  205. time it right.
  206.
  207. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  208.
  209. =========================================

  211.
  212. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_Hammer_18>
  213. Charge as you advance to unleash
  214. a devastating spinning attack.
  215.
  216. The attack hits with each rotation
  217. allowing you to land multiple
  218. successive blows. In addition, the
  219. number of rotations determines
  220. which attack can be performed next.
  221.
  222. Spinning Bludgeon: Charge
  223. A technique that stores released power and
  224. funnels it into the next Charge Switch attack.
  225.
  226. Power is built up when performing a Spinning
  227. Bludgeon. The charge level is then maintained
  228. when executing a Charge Switch.
  229.
  230. Make good use of this to unleash a series
  231. of level 3 charged attacks.
  232.
  233. Keeping Sway
  234. A maneuver that uses a Wirebug to
  235. quickly evade an attack at high speed.
  236.
  237. By using a Wirebug, you're able to
  238. maintain your charge during the evade.
  239.
  240. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  241.
  242. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_Hammer_46>
  243. A Silkbind attack that makes you leap
  244. in the air and come down with multiple
  245. earth-shattering strikes.
  246.
  247. The power of the attack and number
  248. of hits you'll land are determined by
  249. your charge level at the start of the
  250. attack.
  251. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  252.
  253. Impact Burst
  254. A Silkbind attack that wraps your weapon
  255. in Ironsilk. For a short period of time, any
  256. charged attack performed causes the silk
  257. to vibrate, creating a shockwave that
  258. makes it easier to flinch monsters.
  259.
  260. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  261.
  262. =========================================
  263. Hunting Horn
  264.
  265. Crush Attack Combo
  266. A combo that uses Swing and Crush
  267. attacks.
  268.
  269. Useful from a fixed position and from
  270. close range. The combo loop varies
  271. depending on button input.
  272.
  273. Swing Combo
  274. A two-hit attack that can be delivered
  275. from either the left or right. This allows
  276. you to quickly shift directions, making
  277. it useful for repositioning.
  278.
  279. Sonic Bloom
  280. Places a Wirebug cocoon on the ground
  281. that's tethered to you with Ironsilk. When
  282. attacking, vibrations are sent to the silk
  283. and stored in the cocoon, which gradually
  284. swells. After a certain number of Perform-
  285. ances, the energy stored detonates,
  286. dealing stun and exhaust damage.
  287.
  288. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  289.
  290. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_Horn_17>
  291. A technique that uses a Wirebug to push
  292. ahead with repeated attacks, punctuated
  293. by a performance that buffs strength.
  294.
  295. It serves the dual purpose of closing in
  296. on your enemy and boosting your power.
  297.
  298. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  299.
  300. Silkbind Shockwave
  301. A Silkbind attack that wraps your weapon
  302. in Ironsilk. For a short period of time, any
  303. attack performed causes the silk to vibrate,
  304. creating a time-delayed shockwave that
  305. triggers additional hits. These additional
  306. hits do major stun, exhaust, and part
  307. damage.
  308.
  309. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  310.

  320. and right.
  321.
  322. Shield Tackle
  323. A technique where you charge forward
  324. with your shield raised. As your shield
  325. is raised, you're able to guard against
  326. incoming attacks. You can also follow
  327. up with a variety of thrusting attacks.
  328.
  329. Watch for an opening and then unleash
  330. an unrelenting series of attacks.
  331.
  332. Skyward Thrust
  333. A technique where a Wirebug launches
  334. you high into the air. Thrust your lance
  335. towards the heavens and then pierce
  336. the earth.
  337.
  338. Note: The falling portion of the attack
  339. inflicts multiple hits.
  340.
  341. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  342.
  343. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_Lance_37>
  344. A technique that draws a monster's
  345. attention by thrusting a kunai tethered
  346. with Ironsilk into it.
  347.
  348. While the kunai is lodged, the hunter can
  349. leap in close to the target with a Closed
  350. Jump. In addition, stamina consumption
  351. while guarding is reduced.
  352. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  353.
  354. Sheathing Retreat
  355. A technique that automatically sheathes
  356. your weapon while using a Wirebug to
  357. pull you backwards out of harm's way.
  358.
  359. No matter how effective your shield is,
  360. if you sense life-threatening danger,
  361. retreat is the wisest choice.
  362.
  363. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Slow)
  364.
  365. =========================================
  366. Gunlance
  367.
  368. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_GunLance_07>
  369. An attack that impales a monster
  370. with a stake from your gunlance.
  371.
  372. The effects of each stake differs
  373. depending on the gunlance's shelling
  374. type. Normal and long shelling types
  375. detonate after multiple hits, while
  376. the wide shelling type only detonates
  377. a single blast, but can stun monsters.
  378.
  379. Erupting Cannon
  380. This technique involves firing an exploding
  381. stake into your target.
  382.
  383. When using the Eruption Cannon, the tip

  385. attacks are enhanced for a certain period
  386. of time.
  387.
  388. Bullet Barrage
  389. Uses a Wirebug to Blast Dash toward
  390. your target, unleashing everything with
  391. abandon.
  392.
  393. Be careful: Shells, Wyrmstake Cannon,
  394. and Wyvern's Fire will automatically be
  395. reloaded first before performing the attack.
  396.
  397. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  398.
  399. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_GunLance_30>
  400. A strong blocking stance utilizing
  401. Wirebug silk.
  402.
  403. You also enjoy bonus sharpness recovery
  404. if you get the timing right. After a
  405. successful guard, you can combo
  406. into a variety of different attacks.
  407.
  408. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  409.
  410. Reverse Blast
  411. A rapid, backward evasive maneuver
  412. using a Wirebug to stop.
  413.
  414. If no shells are loaded, you'll do a quick
  415. reload, so act with caution.
  416.
  417. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  418.
  419. =========================================
  420. Switch Axe
  421.
  422. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_SlashAxe_11>
  423. A technique that closes the distance
  424. to your target by using the centrifugal
  425. force of swinging with an Axe: Wild
  426. Swing.
  427.
  428. Useful for when the target is out of
  429. swinging range, or when you want to
  430. get in close for Sword Mode attacks.
  431.
  432. 2-Staged Morph Slash Combo
  433. A two-staged Morph Slash attack that
  434. follows an Axe: Wild Swing.
  435.
  436. 1st Stage: Morphs into Sword Mode.
  437. 2nd Stage: Morphs into Axe Mode.
  438.
  439. During this combo, the power of Sword
  440. Mode attacks increase and Axe Mode
  441. attacks fill the Switch Gauge faster.
  442.
  443. Elemental Burst Counter
  444. Compresses Switch Gauge energy,
  445. that can be released as an Elemental
  446. Burst. If the burst is released right
  447. as a monster attacks, you'll perform
  448. a Power Finisher and your switch
  449. axe will go into an Amped State.
  450.
  451. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  452.
  453. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_SlashAxe_36>
  454. A technique that uses a Wirebug to
  455. restore your Switch Gauge as you move.
  456.
  457. Once active, your Switch Gauge won't
  458. deplete for a while, so use this technique
  459. to gain the advantage at the start of battle.
  460.
  461. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  462.
  463. Wire Step
  464. A Wirebug-based evasion technique that
  465. allows you to morph into Axe Mode while
  466. flanking the enemy.
  467.
  468. Highly effective for maneuvering while
  469. in Axe Mode.
  470.
  471. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  472.
  473. =========================================
  474. Charge Blade
  475.
  476. Phial Follow-up
  477. A mechanism in which a small explosion is
  478. triggered by Shield Thrust during Elemental
  479. Boost or by sword attacks while in Sword
  480. Boost Mode.
  481.
  482. Functions as support when attacking in
  483. Sword Mode.
  484.
  485. Phial Follow-up: Firing Pin
  486. A mechanism that lowers the pressure
  487. of elemental energy generated through
  488. Shield Thrust during Elemental Boost,
  489. or by sword attacks while in Sword Boost
  490. Mode. The elemental energy generated
  491. builds up on your target, but disappears
  492. over time. It can be detonated by any
  493. attack in Axe Mode, and extending the
  494. time limit of the Elemental Boost.
  495.
  496. Ready Stance
  497. A Silkbind maneuver that binds sword
  498. and axe together with Ironsilk.
  499.
  500. After guarding, a heavy knockback leaves
  501. you in Sword Mode, and lowers your guard
  502. reaction so you're able to chain sword/axe
  503. attacks.
  504.
  505. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  506.
  507. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_ChargeAxe_33>
  508. A Silkbind technique for quickly closing
  509. the distance to your target while morphing
  510. into Axe Mode.
  511.
  512. While advancing, you're immune to knock-
  513. backs and attacks that send you flying.
  514. You can also follow up by morphing back
  515. into Sword Mode.
  516. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  517.
  518. Air Dash
  519. A Wirebug-based technique where you
  520. rise up while whirling an axe, then propel
  521. yourself away with a Phial Explosion.
  522.
  523. Damage often leaves monsters mountable,
  524. and you can control your fall direction
  525. to some degree. If no Phial Explosion is
  526. detonated, you'll fall straight down.
  527. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  528.
  529. =========================================
  530. Insect Glaive
  531.
  532. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_InsectGlaive_08>
  533. A technique that consumes stamina
  534. to perform a midair slash.
  535.
  536. If you have red extract absorbed,
  537. you'll perform a multi-hit Strong
  538. Jumping Advancing Slash instead.
  539. Landing either Slash will follow up
  540. with a Vaulting Dance.
  541.
  542. Kinsect Slash
  543. A mid-air technique where you thrust
  544. forward with your glaive and Kinsect.
  545. If the slash connects, you'll perform
  546. a Vaulting Dance, absorbing extract.
  547. However, once you've absorbed red
  548. extract with Kinsect Slash, you won't
  549. be able to absorb any other extract
  550. with it, but you'll be able to perform an
  551. Enhanced Insect Spiker as a trade-off.
  552.
  553. Awakened Kinsect Attack
  554. A technique where you hurl a Kinsect
  555. to inflict massive damage. All extracts
  556. are consumed and the more extract you
  557. have, the more potent this attack will be.
  558. After launching the Kinsect, you'll close
  559. in using a Wirebug; simultaneously
  560. absorbing extract, marking the target,
  561. and then chaining into a Vaulting Dance.
  562. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Medium)
  563.
  564. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_skill_InsectGlaive_29>
  565. A Silkbind attack in which you perform
  566. a forward-leaping attack.
  567.
  568. Also useable midair, you can close
  569. in on a target quickly by following up
  570. with either a Midair Evade or Jumping
  571. Advancing Slash.
  572.
  573. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  574.
  575. Kinsect Glide
  576. A technique that sends your Kinsect
  577. out and uses a Wirebug to quickly
  578. jump to it. The Kinsect normally aims
  579. for a marker, but in the absence of
  580. a marker, it will fly forward or follow
  581. the reticle. When your Kinsect comes
  582. in contact with a monster, it'll absorb
  583. extract.
  584. (Wirebug Gauge recovery speed: Fast)
  585.
  586. =========================================
  587. Light Bowgun
  588.
  589. Marksman
  590. A style of shooting that draws out the true
  591. potential of ammo.
  592.
  593. Critical Firepower
  594. A special shooting style that further raises
  595. damage output but narrows critical
  596. distance and increases recoil. Because
  597. the distance at which the power of ammo
  598. is most effective has been reduced, you
  599. will need to be aware and adjust your
  600. firing position.
  601.
  602. Note: Does not apply to certain ammo types.
  603.
  604. Wyvern Counter
  605. An urgent retreat that fires a shot with
  606. massive recoil, using a Wirebug to stop.
  607.
  608. While not a powerful attack, its true
  609. value comes when it's used to evade
  610. incoming attacks. If timed right, you'll

  616. A technique that uses a Wirebug to pull
  617. you forward. If can be followed up with
  618. a powerful close-range attack that blasts
  619. Ironsilk into the target dealing severing
  620. damage. After the attack, whatever
  621. ammo was previously loaded will be
  622. automatically reloaded.

  625.
  626. Mech Silkbind Shot
  627. Purified ammo is loaded with Ironsilk,
  628. allowing you to unleash an onslaught
  629. of shots. Each shot laced with Ironsilk
  630. lodges into the monster, and if any
  631. follow-up attacks hit the lodged ammo,
  632. the silk reacts, increasing the chance
  633. of leaving the part broken or the monster
  634. mountable.

  638. Heavy Bowgun
  639.
  640. <REF HN_WeaponControlsMsg_exname_HeavyBowgun_03>
  641. A style of shooting that accumulates power
  642. by charging a shot.
  643.
  644. The amount of power a shot is increased
  645. by is determined by how long the shot
  646. was charged.
  647.
  648. Crouching Shot
  649. A style of shooting that utilizes a special
  650. stance to reduce recoil. In exchange for
  651. not being able to move, you're able to fire
  652. in rapid succession. The longer you fire,
  653. the shorter the firing interval becomes,
  654. but at the risk of overheating your bowgun.
  655. If your bowgun overheats, it can't be fired
  656. until it has cooled down.
  657. Note: Certain ammo types cannot be used.
  658.
  659. Rising Moon
  660. A Silkbind technique in which a Wirebug
  661. generates a ring of Ironsilk. Special
  662. powder accumulates within the ring,
  663. and when ammo passes through it,
  664. the velocity of the ammo increases,
  665. and in turn, extends the ammo's range.
  666. This can make certain ammo types
  667. viable from farther away.

  679. Setting Sun
  680. A Silkbind technique in which a Wirebug
  681. generates a ring of Ironsilk. Special
  682. powder accumulates within the ring,
  683. and when ammo passes through it,
  684. the velocity of the ammo is decreased.
  685. Firing piercing ammo/multi-hit ammo
  686. through the ring will boost the total
  687. number of hits upon impact.

  694. A basic melee attack.
  695.
  696. If you perform a Charging Sidestep
  697. after a Melee Attack, you can follow-up
  698. with a Lunging Melee Attack.
  699.
  700. Both melee attacks will have the same

  711. determined by type of arrow loosed.
  712.
  713. Butcher's Bind
  714. Fires an arrow loaded with Ironsilk.
  715.
  716. If the follow-up arrow lands in the same
  717. spot as the first, Ironsilk winds around
  718. both arrows, inflicting severing damage.
  719. If the second arrow is off target, the
  720. lodged arrow disappears.
