January 21, 2020: DuskGolem (popular Resident Evil rumormonger) reports that “Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games, one a soft-reboot of the franchise, the other an episodic TellTale/Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot”

February 10, 2020: Bloober Team designer Artur Łączkowski halts production on his personal project “Death of Rose” due to a “very big situation I can’t talk about yet”.
February 28, 2020: Masahiro Ito tweets “Pyramid Head, R.I.P.” - notable considering Ito previously tweeted “If I should make a new Silent Hill, I would not use Pyramid Head or kill him in its opening.” back in August 2017
March 12, 2020: Rely On Horror reports on a rumor that Sony is working with Konami and Kojima Productions to patch up their relationship and revive the cancelled ‘Silent Hills’ project along with a brand new game helmed by Keiichiro Toyama and SIE Japan Studio.
March 24, 2020: Konami confirms that Rely On Horror’s reporting was false, while adding “It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported”.
April 7, 2020: Poland Stock Exchange posts the following: “The Management Board of Bloober Team S.A. based in Krakow (hereinafter referred to as the "Issuer") informs that yesterday it concluded a significant agreement with a global publisher, one of the world leaders in the gaming industry, regarding game production, based on one of the brands owned by the publisher. Pursuant to the agreement, the Issuer will receive, among others "advance" remuneration after meeting agreed milestones, and the value of the entire development budget exceeds the equity of the Issuer. The Issuer's Management Board submits this information due to the fact that the conclusion of the contract will have a significant impact on the Issuer's financial results for 2020 and subsequent years.”
April 11, 2020: Manga artist Suehiro Maruo posts an image of a sign that reads “Silent Hills” on his Instagram, as well as a picture of Konami’s Midtown East location.
May 7, 2020: Bloober Team concept artist Aneta Bielas announces the project they’ve been working on for the past 3 years: “The Medium”. Masahiro Ito congratulates them on the release.
May 8, 2020: Bloober Team’s lead designer Wojciech Piejko is interviewed for GameSpot about how they were able to get Akira Yamaoka for their game “The Medium”: “Akira-san put the headphones down and said something like, 'You guys mentioned that you're making two games. I want to make both of them.' I was like, 'Yes, yes, yes!'” Yamaoka has only worked on one game with Bloober Team so far, which is “The Medium”.
May 26, 2020: Silent Hill crossover with Dead By Daylight announced.
May 27, 2020: Suehiro Maruo links to the Dead By Daylight Silent Hill crossover announcement video on Instagram and adds text that reads “We just started”.
July 31, 2020: Silent Hill Twitter account created and Konami’s Twitter account posts the Silent Hill air raid siren sound effect from SH2.
January 27, 2021: Bloober Team’s game “The Medium” is reviewed by IGN, and Artur is asked about their next project. Artur replies: “There is something in the works right now, something big.”
January 28, 2021: “The Medium” is released.
January 31, 2021: Bloober Team says that “The Medium” has already turned a profit.
February 3, 2021: Artur Łączkowski says Bloober Team “are working on a new big project” and are hiring for many new positions including a combat programmer.
February 4, 2021: Gaming site Al Hub posts a YouTube interview with Akira Yamaoka where he’s asked what next project he’s working on. His response: “I think it’s the one you’re hoping to hear about.”
February 5, 2021: The YouTube interview with Yamaoka is privated and Al Hub posts the following statement on Twitter: “We were asked to remove the clip, and it has been removed.”
February 18, 2021: gamesindustry.biz interviews Peter Babieno who says: "In fact, we've been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we're doing this with a very famous gaming publisher. I can't tell you who. I can't tell you what the project is, but I'm pretty sure when people realize we're working on it, they will be very excited."
February 18, 2021: VGC confirms Konami is outsourcing Silent Hill to a "prominent Japanese developer, with a reveal due this summer." VGC went on to speculate that Konami may be working on two new Silent Hill games, which is what DuskGolem reported back in early 2020.
