  21. Dear Vicky Vinch,
  22.
  23. Thank you for contacting us. We understand your concern
  24. about your new Chase Debit Card and regret that this has
  25. been escalated. Please allow us to provide more
  26. information on this matter.
  27.
  28. With the new embedded chip card, this replaces your old
  29. card, while still providing all the same features and
  30. benefits you currently receive. The chip stores
  31. information needed to complete your purchase, such as card
  32. number and expiration date.
  33.
  34. The chip alone does not make your card more secure. A chip
  35. transaction adds another layer of security to cards by
  36. requiring the chip to produce a single-use code to
  37. validate the transaction ? further protecting your card
  38. from unauthorized use. This process makes your chip card
  39. information more difficult to steal and therefore prevents
  40. counterfeit fraud, one of the largest and fastest growing
  41. types of fraud here at home and abroad.
  42.
  43. Please know that Chase has the best interest in keeping
  44. your account protected and secure. Regardless of how often
  45. you use the card, the U.S. is shifting to chip-enabled
  46. cards which would require Chase to transition to chip for
  47. both credit and debit cards. We are unable to deactivate
  48. the RFID feature on the card since Chase commits to card
  49. security, and chip technology is an important, proven tool
  50. that helps fight counterfeit fraud.
  51.
  52. We hope that this information has clarified your inquiry
  53. about the new ship card. We value your relationship us.
  54.
  55. Thank you for choosing Chase.
  56.
  57. Sincerely,
  58.

  159.

  163.

  220. -----ORIGINAL MESSAGE-----
  221. Good morning Vicky,
  222.
  223. Thank you for contacting Chase. It will be my pleasure to
  224. address your concern regarding the Chase Debit Card.
  225.
  226. The RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a
  227. magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card;
  228. it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just
  229. as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the
  230. information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve
  231. the identifying information.ÂÂ
  232.
  233. Please contact us anytime with questions or concerns. We
  234. are here to help and are committed to providing you
  235. excellent service.

  268. -----ORIGINAL MESSAGE-----
  269. Dear Vicky Vinch,
  270.
  271. Thank you for contacting Chase. We'd be delighted to
  272. review your request for account information.
  273.
  274. Chip-enabled cards provide an extra layer of security when
  275. used in a chip card reader. A chip transaction requires
  276. the card to produce a single-use code to approve the
  277. transaction.
  278.
  279. To use your card at a chip reader:
  280.
  281. 1. Swipe your card as you do today and follow the prompts
  282. on the screen.
  283.
  284. 2. If prompted, insert your card with the chip side facing
  285. up and leave the card in place until the transaction is
  286. complete.
  287.
  288. 3. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  289.
  290. If the card reader is not chip-enabled, you can use the
  291. magnetic stripe on your card as you do today. You can
  292. still use your card the same way you do today for online
  293. and phone purchases.
  294.
  295. To use your card at an ATM:
  296.
  297. 1. Use your chip card at the ATM as you do today and
  298. follow the prompts on the screen.
  299.
  300. 2. If prompted, re-insert your card and leave it in the
  301. ATM to complete your transaction.
  302.
  303. 3. Always remember to take your card, receipt, and any
  304. cash with you.
  305.
  306. To learn more, visit chase.com/chip.
  307.
  308. We hope that you find the information above helpful for
  309. your banking needs.

  340. Yes, I do hae another question.
  341.
  342. I apparently have received an RFID chip card. I had asked
  343. my branch on numerous occasions what information,
  344. *exactly* was stored on this card and no one at the branch
  345. had an answer to this question.
  346.
  347. What information is stored on this card, please and what
  348. personal identifiers of mine are on this card"? Many
  349. local merchants here are not even set up to use chip
  350. cards. I have read many negative reports on these cards
  351. and would like these questions answered before even
  352. considering using it.

  744. Good morning Vicky,
  745.
  746. Thank you for contacting Chase. It will be my pleasure to
  747. address your concern regarding the Chase Debit Card.
  748.
  749. The RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a
  750. magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card;
  751. it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just
  752. as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the
  753. information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve
  754. the identifying information.ÂÂÂ
  755.
  756. Please contact us anytime with questions or concerns. We
  757. are here to help and are committed to providing you
  758. excellent service.

  863. Yes, I do hae another question.
  864.
  865. I apparently have received an RFID chip card. I had asked
  866. my branch on numerous occasions what information,
  867. *exactly* was stored on this card and no one at the branch
  868. had an answer to this question.
  869.
  870. What information is stored on this card, please and what

  872. local merchants here are not even set up to use chip
  873. cards. I have read many negative reports on these cards

  1949. Good morning Vicky,
  1950.
1951. Thank you for contacting Chase. It will be my pleasure to
1952. address your concern regarding the Chase Debit Card.
  1953.
1954. The RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a
  1955. magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card;
1956. it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just
1957. as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the
1958. information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve
  1959. the identifying information.ÂÂ
  1960.
1961. Please contact us anytime with questions or concerns. We
1962. are here to help and are committed to providing you

  1997. Dear Vicky Vinch,
  1998.
1999. Thank you for contacting Chase. We'd be delighted to
2000. review your request for account information.
  2001.
2002. Chip-enabled cards provide an extra layer of security when
2003. used in a chip card reader. A chip transaction requires
2004. the card to produce a single-use code to approve the
  2005. transaction.
  2006.
2007. To use your card at a chip reader:
  2008.
2009. 1. Swipe your card as you do today and follow the prompts
  2010. on the screen.
  2011.
2012. 2. If prompted, insert your card with the chip side facing
2013. up and leave the card in place until the transaction is
  2014. complete.
  2015.
2016. 3. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  2017.
2018. If the card reader is not chip-enabled, you can use the
2019. magnetic stripe on your card as you do today. You can
2020. still use your card the same way you do today for online
  2021. and phone purchases.
  2022.
2023. To use your card at an ATM:
  2024.
2025. 1. Use your chip card at the ATM as you do today and
2026. follow the prompts on the screen.
  2027.
2028. 2. If prompted, re-insert your card and leave it in the
2029. ATM to complete your transaction.
  2030.
2031. 3. Always remember to take your card, receipt, and any
  2032. cash with you.
  2033.
2034. To learn more, visit chase.com/chip.
  2035.
2036. We hope that you find the information above helpful for
  2037. your banking needs.

2068. Yes, I do hae another question.
  2069.
2070. I apparently have received an RFID chip card. I had asked
2071. my branch on numerous occasions what information,
2072. *exactly* was stored on this card and no one at the branch
2073. had an answer to this question.
  2074.
2075. What information is stored on this card, please and what
2076. personal identifiers of mine are on this card"? Many
2077. local merchants here are not even set up to use chip
2078. cards. I have read many negative reports on these cards
2079. and would like these questions answered before even
