We have temporarily disabled /home1/daga2009 because it was causing performance issues on the server. Generally, we attempt to resolve these issues without disabling sites; however, this site began to affect the performance for all users on the system. In this case, we acted to preserve the overall server stability. The report at the end of this ticket provides additional information about the site activity during this period.

There are several factors that can contribute to poor WordPress performance. In general, most issues are the result of plugins consuming excessive resources, extremely large databases, or extreme bot traffic. In our experience, the following tips can help lower resource usage and improve the page speed giving an all around better visitor experience.

- Install a caching plugin. In general we recommend WP Super Cache, and our suggested settings can be found here: http://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/wordpress/wp-super-cache-plugin
- Reduce the size of your databases by removing old content, clearing out post revisions and spam comments, or simply archiving old table data
- Reduce the item count in pagination. Instead of 30 items per page, try 10 or 20
- Add captchas to the login and comment areas to prevent bot abuse
- Replace the WordPress cron with a cPanel cron by following this link https://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/wordpress/how-to-replace-wordpress-cron-with-a-real-cron-job
- Prevent security plugins from scanning incoming web requests or large directories
- Reduce the overall plugin count. Any plugins that are not vital should be removed
- Throttle or limit resource heavy plugins like:
- Related posts plugins (WordPress Related Posts, YARPP)
- WP Robot and other AutoBlogging plugins
- WP Post Views, StatPress, and other wordpress statistics software
- Link Checkers or aggressive Sitemap generators

There are several ways to test whether these changes have had a positive effect on the page load. You can use a service like GTMetrix.com or WebPageTest.org to analyze the site and determine if additional improvements can be made.

For analyzing plugins, you should try the P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) which will monitor your plugins and help you identify problem areas. Make sure to disable it after you have finished your review.
