  2. <Dol|GM> Redline felt bad. Not so much emotionally, even if he had killed someone in cold blood for the first time the other day, but physically. Ever since he went to the Mouse Trap for his rendezvous with- You know, he never actually got her name. Not very considerate of her, baiting him like that without even sharing her name. Anyways, he mostly just remembers pain after that. Every time he felt like he could handle the pain well enough to be
  3. <Dol|GM> conscious, more of it was tacked on.
  4. <Dol|GM> He doesn't know how long that happened, but he was regaining his wits again. It was a slow process, as ever, but he was gaining some awareness of the room and his situation. He couldn't move, though it felt like his costume was still on, including the helmet. His ribs hurt, but at least he was awake.

  7. <CG|Redline> All Andrew can do is sit and wait and he's not taking it well. Every small movement seems like a knife in his side. He hasn't been behind the wheel of a car, and his total lack of control over the situation disturbs him.
  8. <CG|Redline> As his awareness slowly spreads over the moon he pushes to stretch it, take in as many details as he can with his power. Maybe there's something he's missing that he can use.
  9. <CG|Redline> He likes to think he's doing his best equivalent of glaring at the whole room.
  10. <CG|Redline> Andrew, once a calm and collected piece of shit let's out an unintelligible shriek of frustration at the room.
  11. <CG|Redline> If he could lash out he would.

  36. <Dol|GM> His awareness starts to expand, going back out to its normal glory. He can now clearly make out the tatty brown fabric covering the visor of his helmet, and nothing but small patches of light can be seen through it. In addition, his entire body is strapped to some manner of thing. He can't tell how they did it, but they've stopped him from everything but fidgeting.
  37. <Dol|GM> "Hey, he's awake!" an unfamiliar voice calls out.
  38. <Dol|GM> "No shit," a second voice responds.
  39. <Dol|GM> "Hey," a third voice, this one familiar, much closer, and directed at him says. "How you doing there, Redline?" It was the woman from the phone.
  40. <Dol|GM> ||
  41. <CG|Redline> He tries to turn his head towards her, directly towards where he /knows/ she is. He knows it's futile, but he wants to test his bonds. What kind of contraption is he stuck in?

  57. <Dol|GM> His voice comes out raw, dry. Apparently no one had been giving him water. He doesn't falter, though, and he manages to at least sound casual about how dry he is. His body follows suit, as the full body bindings refuse to give way. At least he knows that it's over all of him now.
  58. <Dol|GM> His remark is met with mixed laughter, including the woman's. She sounds like she's smiling when she says, "That's funny, Redline. You were this close to being on the nose!" She puts a lot of emphasis on the word 'this', like she was holding up her fingers near each other.
  59. <Dol|GM> ||
  60. <CG|Redline> Redline just groans in response. The air catches in his throat and he begins to cough, causing pain in his ribs. He curses under his breath.
  61. <CG|Redline> After he regains his composure he takes a deep breath.
  62. <CG|Redline> "What is that even supposed to mean..."
  63. <CG|Redline> There are apparently people here, but it's bothering him that as aware as he is he can barely tell what's going on.
  64. <CG|Redline> He stills himself and taps into his unnatural awareness. How many people are there?
  65. <CG|Redline> ((Pip 5 awareness))

  68. <Dol|GM> There's about seven people wandering around, many of them doing busy work. He can hear other people in the distance, setting something up. Work is being done, and he's at the center of it all. A lot of it is happening from somewhat beneath him. He must be on a platform, since the woman is at his same level.
  69. <Dol|GM> "See, you said you're 'hanging', which is a means of execution. Would've been a double entendre, which means 'two meanings'. It's a kind of joke," the woman patiently explains. She sounds more than a little condescending.
  70. <Dol|GM> ||
  71. <-> FossGroggy is now known as FossilLord
  72. <CG|Redline> "I know what a double entendre is you dummy." He says, attempting to be even more condescending than she is.
  73. <CG|Redline> "That's why I said it..." He continues, digging for more info with his ears his nose.
  74. <CG|Redline> "So what are you guys gonna do, set me on fire or something? From the feel of things it seems like you're gonna get creative with it."
  75. <CG|Redline> He should be scared. But he has some irrational belief inside of him that he's going to pull through somehow.
  76. <CG|Redline> That confidence in himself shines through. He talks to her like she's a child. A peasant.
  77. <CG|Redline> ||
  78. <Dol|GM> "Oh, wow," she says, sounding hurt in the most melodramatic fashion. "Dummy! I, I feel so wounded. After everything we've been through, Redline? That's how you treat me? I thought we could have had something."
  79. <Dol|GM> Around Redline he can hear people doing construction, setting things up. A few people are snickering. Nothing too terribly exciting.
  80. <Dol|GM> "Don't worry about what we're going to do," the woman continues. "It'll be more fun as a surprise."
  81. <Dol|GM> ||
  82. <CG|Redline> "You know I take it back. I'm really feeling the love in the air right now. It just took me a while to realize. You're really hardcore into bondage and I'm fine with that. We just need to communicate better babe." He says, disdainfully.
  83. <CG|Redline> He's had enough of this place. Now to make his daring escape.
  84. <CG|Redline> He pushes his arm THROUGH whatever is holding him to rip off whats on his head.
  85. <CG|Redline> ||
  86. <-> soulpelt| is now known as soulpelt|GK
  87. <Dol|GM> Redline's awareness of his surroundings fade as he reaches his forarms through his bonds, escaping whatever they are with ease. Only his forearms, though. The rest of him remains thoroughly bound, though he now has a bit more wiggle room, and he can't reach high enough as to remove whatever is over his helmet. It's definitely over his helmet, though, as he can't pull it off by pulling.
  88. <Dol|GM> "Nah," the woman says with a cruel sounding laugh. "Marchesa's the sadist, but she's staying out of this. It's just us useless fuckheads tonight. I knew you had to have some kind of power, though!" She giggles, a completely inappropriate sound for a grown woman.
  89. <Dol|GM> "Looks like the ropes worked," she says, sounding utterly delighted with herself.
  90. <Dol|GM> ||
  91. <CG|Redline> "Yeah looks like they worked pretty well. Are you sure you're not into that? Your rope work is pretty good." He says casually, as if he didn't just make himself look like an idiot.
  92. <CG|Redline> A well of fear is starting to come up in his gut, but he continues to lie to himself expertly. It's not a lie to him, he's going to get out of this alive no problem.
  93. <CG|Redline> He doesn't need help he's Redline.
  94. <CG|Redline> He's not sure if it'll help, he's never used it this way but he tries anyway. He attempts to FLICKER out of existence of a moments and reappear outside of his bonds.

  98. <Dol|GM> He vanishes for a brief moment, then almost immediately reappears in the same spot, and in the same condition. No luck.
  99. <Dol|GM> "I didn't do the ropes," the woman answers, though she sounds briefly less mirthful and more concerned. "The hell is your power, anyways?"
  100. <Dol|GM> "Being a jackass?"
  101. <Dol|GM> ||
  102. <CG|Redline> That's when Redline begins to panic. It's the moment he realizes it's not actually in his ability to escape this. He's not actually invincible.
  103. <CG|Redline> He starts to shake. All his power can do for him here is make him more aware of how fucked he is. For fucks sake he's only 16, he has so much more life left to live.
  104. <CG|Redline> He drops the macho man act, and when he speaks next it accurately reflects what he is.

  115. <Dol|GM> From the tone of her voice, that was supposed to mean something.
  116. <Dol|GM> ||
  117. <CG|Redline> "Oh that was his name, huh? Charlie? Charlie had balls, big ones. Those gigantic things are what got his ass killed." He screams suddenly, lashing out at the fucking cunt.
  118. <CG|Redline> "Keep threatening me, and watch what will rain down on your heads. You have no idea who I am, and who I know." He says threateningly. He's bluffing but in his rage he almost believes it. How dare they.
  119. <CG|Redline> ||
  120. <Dol|GM> "Oh no!" the woman replies, her voice filled with mock horror. "Are you going to call the cops on us? Oh jeeze. I don't know if we can handle that. I mean, we've been holding most of the city for years, but who knows what would happen if the /cops/ got involved!"
  121. <Dol|GM> ||
  122. <CG|Redline> "No..." He says cruelly. "My employer will find out about this, and he won't be happy. There's a reason you all have me tied up right now. Imagine what will happen to you with more capes on your ass. You're expendable. You'll end up like Charlie. Let me go, and I'll let you off easy. Maybe you'll even make a lot of money. 124. <CG|Redline> He's lying through his teeth, of course.
  125. <CG|Redline> But his parents are rich. Maybe he can use their money and connections to his advantage here.
  126. <CG|Redline> ||
  127. <Dol|GM> "Yeah, see, that's actually the whole point here," she says, her voice cold, stern. "You killed someone. If we let you walk away from that, then what's to stop the next person from killing more people?"
  128. <Dol|GM> "Actions have consequences. That's life."

He says, lowering
  132. <CG|Redline> his voice so only she can hear him.
  133. <CG|Redline> ||
  134. <Dol|GM> "Oh," she says, sounding surprised. "Huh."
  135. <Dol|GM> Her next statement takes ahile to come out, and she sounds thoughtful about it. "Well, I always wanted to be someone important in something big. I wanted to drink when I wanted, smoke when I wanted, and have people respect me for being smart instead of some other nonsense."
  136. <Dol|GM> "It's what a lot of us want," she adds, tone still thoughtful. "So, think you can do that?"
  137. <Dol|GM> ||
  138. <CG|Redline> "I can." He says greedily. Jumping on the perceived weakness like vermin to crumbs on the ground.
  139. <CG|Redline> "A high paying job off the streets where you'll be respected." His fathers businesses. "Enough money to not have to work again for a while." His parents money. "A favor from a Parahuman who can take care of anyone that disrespects you. You don't even have to do much, just help me get down and if I get out... I promise I'll make whatever you want possible.
  140. <CG|Redline> I'll even tell you my identity as insurance." He purrs at her in the same voice he'd use to convince someone to let him sleep with them.
  141. <CG|Redline> ||
  142. <Dol|GM> "Kid," the woman says, her voice back to being condescending. "That was a joke. I was telling you what I like about my current job, and why I wouldn't give it up for some random murderer of a cape. I already have capes backing me up. It's how we caught you, if you'll think back on it."
  143. <Dol|GM> ||
  144. <CG|Redline> "Would they do /anything/ for you?" He says, giving it one last try.
  145. <CG|Redline> ||
  146. <Dol|GM> "Because I can smooth talk murderers into coming to bars with the word 'trap' in their fucking name," she answers.
  147. <Dol|GM> ||
  148. <CG|Redline> "Yeah." He says simply.
  149. <CG|Redline> He just hangs there for a few moments. Tears come to his eyes. Sure he'd killed someone but he wasn't /that/ bad was he?
  150. <CG|Redline> Yeah he was.
  151. <CG|Redline> "Well. This is awkward..." he says after a few moments.
  152. <CG|Redline> "But I guess I deserve it, so... do your worst." He clenches his eyes shut hard behind his red visor. How would his parents feel if they saw him here.
  153. <CG|Redline> How would his uncle feel?
  154. <CG|Redline> What a bad way to go.
  155. <CG|Redline> All he can do is sigh and wait.
  156. <CG|Redline> ||
  157. <Dol|GM> "Nah," she says. He can hear footsteps, probably hers, as she walks away down some nearby stairs. "We're just going to kill you. You don't deserve our worst."
  158. <Dol|GM> Then nothing. Just him, the brown fabric, and the sound of people bustling about around him.
  159. <Dol|GM> All of the focus apparently on him, but nobody wanted to actually engage.
  160. <Dol|GM> Time passes.
  161. <Dol|GM> ||
  162. <CG|Redline> As time passes he goes through several phases.
  163. <CG|Redline> At first he sits there quietly, he's ready fuck it.
  164. <CG|Redline> But then he /thinks/. He's going to DIE. Over! Dead! Gone! No more weed, no more driving, no more fucking, no more friends. No more Mom and Dad...
  165. <CG|Redline> His uncle had gone and that had been it.
  166. <CG|Redline> He was about to suffer the same fate. He squirms, screams, does every possible thing he can think of with his power and is thwarted every time. He goes still again.
  167. <CG|Redline> All he feels is a dreadful anticipation.
  168. <CG|Redline> ||
  169. <Dol|GM> More time passes. Eventually the light passing through the fabric dims, the sound of work fades, and new noises replace them. Shuffling, pleasant chatter, all the sounds of a crowd start to arise. Evidently Redline was in a building, and it was starting to fill with people.
  170. <Dol|GM> The sound starts to increase, more footsteps as people navigate. A few catcalls can be heard from time to time. More and more people, all gathering to watch Redline.
  171. <Dol|GM> ||
  172. <CG|Redline> He screams back at them. A scream of defiance. He sounds like he's lost it.
  173. <CG|Redline> "Suck my dick, you fuckers. Eat my ass!" He screams at them.
  174. <CG|Redline> Fuck them for trying to take his life for him.
  175. <CG|Redline> From*
  176. <CG|Redline> ||
  177. <Dol|GM> (("Eat my ass"? That's a bit crude, don't you think?))
  178. <Dol|GM> The crowd /roars/ at him in response, the individual cries impossible to make out from the sea of anger.
  179. <Dol|GM> Then the sounds quiet down, and the lights dim even further, vanishing almost entirely.
  180. <Dol|GM> A voice starts to talk over a speaker system, the sound reverberating through the warehouse.
  181. <Dol|GM> It's a man's voice, and it's discussing the greatness of the Court, their refusal to back down from challenges, how much nicer their gang colors look than everybody else's, the usual (presumably) nonsense.
  182. <CG|Redline> ((That was the point :P))
  183. <Dol|GM> Then the speech stops.
  184. <Dol|GM> And nothing else happens to take its place.
  185. <Dol|GM> After a little while, a small murmur starts to come from the audience. People talking, quietly questioning why this is happening.
  186. <Dol|GM> Still, nothing happens.
  187. <Dol|GM> ||
  188. <CG|Redline> He goes quiet again after a little bit, the need to be vulgar and challenge them gone for the moment. What is this? A trick? Hope?!?
  189. <CG|Redline> He reaches with his senses. Are people coming towards him? What's going on!
  190. <CG|Redline> ||
  191. <Dol|GM> It turns out he picked the worst possible moment to attempt to apply his senses. A blinding- no, several blinding flashes of light rapidly burst through the room, each seemingly brighter than the last. Even what little Redline can see through the holes is practically blinding.
  192. <Dol|GM> The whole of the audience cries out in pain as they, too, bear witness to the horribly bright whatever the hell that was.
  193. <Dol|GM> Then the pain turns to rage, and a room full of people angrily try to figure out who had just attacked them.
  194. <Dol|GM> ||
  195. <Dol|GM> ((Alright folks, joining the things now. Order will be me, CG|Redline, then Snow_White. So, CG is up next. Start with the ..., end with ||, etc.))
  196. <Snow_White> ((Got it.))
  197. <CG|Redline> ...
  198. <CG|Redline> What the fuck? He screams along with the crowd, at first in fear.
  199. <CG|Redline> Is this how everything is going to end? Bright painful lights and then he's done?
  200. <CG|Redline> But then he realizes the crowd is angry too. Help?
  201. <CG|Redline> His angry energy is renewed. He's saved! All the remorse and character he'd gained from 'accepting' his death is swiftly tossed out the window. He throws the metaphorical bird to the grim reaper as he chooses that moment to jerk against his bonds hard.
  202. <CG|Redline> He uses THROUGH as he flails hoping it'll maybe help slip the ropes off.
  203. <CG|Redline> "Let me go!"
  204. <CG|Redline> ||
  205. <Snow_White> "Put your blindfold on," Snow White hisses belatedly. Stupid, she should've paid attention to that. "Then get to me."
  206. <Snow_White> She rushes through the snapshot she had gotten of the crowd, up to the stage where they were keeping the intended victim, throwing another orb at the ground on the way there, adjusting her course based on that second snapshot.||.||

  209. <Dol|GM> "Stop shooting the damned things and I will!" Leads cries out in response. Redline struggles on the dais, strapped by ropes to a table, his forearms flailing in and out of the ropes. He was still tied down, though, and Snow White couldn't spot any easily accessible knots.
  210. <Dol|GM> ||
  211. <CG|Redline> ...
  212. <CG|Redline> ((Sorry))
  213. <CG|Redline> He's so frustrated. If he could just SEE he could do /something/ the fucking bastards.

  218. <Dol|GM> The contraption, as it turns out, is just tightly bound ropes. It's almost comical, but that's what it is.

  224. <Snow_White> "It is in your best interest to shut up," Snow White responds. "We are working on it." She checks for knots again, trying to find something she can untie. In the meantime, she keeps an ear out for anyone approaching her.

  253. <Snow_White> Oh god. She's rescuing a complete idiot. She is going to demand such a favour from the Sun King after this. She tosses another orb into the crowd, hopefully keeping them away for a moment longer as she pulls on the ropes yet again.||
  254. <Dol|GM> The ropes budge, and Redline is able to pull the thing (a burlap sack) off of his head. He can see his savior! The savior who is now managing to get the ropes even looser, if not quite there yet.
  255. <Dol|GM> The fighting from beneath is getting louder.
  256. <Dol|GM> ||
  257. <CG|Redline> ...
  258. <CG|Redline> Once he feels like they're /really/ loose enough, he struggles against his bonds once again. He's almost out!
  259. <CG|Redline> He doesn't care that she hasn't responded, he's too excited to be getting out of there alive.
  260. <CG|Redline> ||
  261. <Snow_White> ...
  262. <CG|Redline> -||
  263. <CG|Redline> Once his power senses come back again he aims to take in the /whole/ room.
  264. <CG|Redline> ||
  265. <Snow_White> She continues pulling on the ropes. She really hopes this won't take much longer. The sooner she's out of here, the better. "What do you do?" she asks the person she's rescuing.||
  266. <Snow_White> ((Would you like me to describe her, actually?))
  267. <Dol|GM> ((Yes.))
  268. <Snow_White> -||
  269. <-> FaustAndAbout is now known as Faustus
  270. <Snow_White> The woman crouching and pulling at the ropes is a tall one, with long black hair, a white mask covering her entire face, making her expression impossible to read. Her mask and the rest of her costume all sharp angles.||
  271. <CG|Redline> ...
  272. <CG|Redline> He's overjoyed to see a cape standing over him. Especially an intimidating one like this one. Real big guns to save his life. As he deserves. He knew he wasn't going to die here.
  273. <Dol|GM> ((This'll be the last post, CG. Make it count.))
  274. <CG|Redline> "Super senses, and a few extra tricks. I walk to my own tune basically." He says, mostly still excited that he's going to leave. That he'll be able to drive in the circuit. Hell maybe he'll even be a better person...
  275. <CG|Redline> Maybe.
  276. <CG|Redline> But first he needed to escape. And maybe do one more bad thing before he "reforms" ha.
  277. <CG|Redline> For now he'll have to play it by ear.
  278. <CG|Redline> ||
  279. <Dol|GM> ((PAUSE))
