  1. So you've seen/played in an Alpha c0.30_01c World and want to upgrade it to the Anvil format for Minecraft Java Edition?? Don't worry I'v got you covered! :)
  2.
  3. [ ---
  4.
  5. **Quick backstory:**
  6.
  7. So I'm part of the Complete The Monument Community (CTMC) and we do this jam thing every so oftern and i needed a Minecraft Alpha c0.30_01c world for the latest jam which is called nostalgia so yeah!
  8. ](#spoiler)
  9. ---
  10.
  11. **You will need:**
  12. * MCEdit Legacy V0.1.5.
  13. * MCR Minecraft Mod.
  14. * Minecraft Java Edition.
  15. * Minecraft Legacy Launcher. (IDK if you can do what I need it to do with the 'New' launcher. If you can do it then please correct me in the comments.)(Launcher looks like (this)[https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/339564532072448004/386994659911794698/mincraftLauncher_1.6.70.png]^1.)
  16. * 100MB (MegaBytes) of storage space.
  17. * A basic knowledge of Windows file/directory (folder) manipulation and navigation.
  18.
  19. ---
  20.
  21. I'll start by assuming that you have Minecraft installed (this is /r/minecraft after all) and that you have the legacy launcher. (If you don't have it i cant really help you (soz).) I'm also assuming that you have 100MB of storage space and that you have a basic knowledge of how to manipulate/navigate files and directories in Windows. If you do have this knowledge ignore the bullet points below.
  22. More info on basic Windows file/directory manipulation:
  23. * (Windows 7)[http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1393064]^2.
  24. * (Windows 8 & 8.1)[https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh825481.aspx]^3.
  25. * (Windows 10)[https://www.groovypost.com/howto/windows-10-files-folders-file-explorer/]^4.
  26.
  27. ---
  28.
  29. So the best place to start is to go to (Here)[http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/2686543-minecraft-classic-revived-0-30_08a-mod-version]^5 and download the newest version of the MCR mod. (I don't know what it stands for so don't ask me.) Then download vertion 0.1.6 of MCEdit from (Here)[https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tl1024mx9dnect8/AACE9Y6FPIVE4fQAxH06Rvjva?dl=0]^6. (To be precise the one you want to download is called 'MCEdit_dev-0.1.6build327.win-amd64.zip'. ((Help)[https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/339564532072448004/386992277337407490/Desktop_Screenshot_2017.12.03_-_21.26.43.21.png]^7) Then go into Minecraft 1.12.X and generate a superflat world with the Void preset enabled and call it '112X_gen'. (It's the preset with (this)[https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/339564532072448004/387010401642217482/Minecraft_Screenshot_2017.12.03_-_22.38.35.27.png]^8 symbol.)
  30.
  31. Next create a directory called 'Alpha Conversion'. I'm asking you to do this in order to store all the files in one place for simplicity sake. Next, create 3 directory's. One called 'MCEDIT_OLD_V_0.1.6', one called 'MCR Mod' and one called 'AlphaWorld'. Now move the MCEdit 0.1.6 zip to 'MCEDIT_OLD_V_0.1.6' and extract the files into that directory . Then move the 0.30_08a.zip file to the directory called 'MCR Mod' and extract it here.
  32.
  33. In the 'MCR Mod' directory, you should now see a text file called 'Instuctions.txt' open this and follow its instructions on how to install the mod. (If you need help leave a short message in the comments detailing what step you are at, what has gone wrong and what you have tried in order to fix the problem. I will try and help but cant make any guarantees.)
  34.
  35. Then load up the MCR modded version of Minecraft and let it generate a new world. (+) Have a quick explore and decide if this is a world you like to convert. If it isn't press `esc`and click the 'Generate new level..' button. (Go back to the plus sign in brackets if you don't like this world ether.) If you do like this world then click the 'Save level..' button and then click the 'Save file...'. This will give you the option to save in a particular directory. Save the file in the directory you created earlier called 'AlphaWorld'. (\Alpha Conversion\AlphaWorld)(For me this is `C:\Users\T54\Documents\Alpha Conversion\AlphaWorld`.) Call the world/level 'alpha_world'.
  36.
  37. Now go to the directory called 'MCEDIT_OLD_V_0.1.6' and click 'mcedit.exe'. (__***WARNING!***__ Make sure you have all other versions of MCEdit closed before you do this. If you leave other versions open bad things will happen to any newer versions of MCEdit that you have open.) It some times takes a minute to load so give it some time to think. :)
  38.
  39. If this is the first time you have opened this version of MCEdit it will show you a load of popups. For each of these popups, click the 'No'/'Decline' option. Then click the 'Open a level...' option. You need to navigate to the 'saves' directory within the .minecraft directory. If you don't know how to access the .minecraft folder please see (here)[https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/.minecraft]^9. Then find the directory called '112X_gen' which is the name of the Minecraft 1.12.X world we created earlier.
  40.
  41. Next we need to import the alpha world. To do this click the 'Chunk View' button and then the 'Import' button (it looks like (this)[https://github.com/Khroki/MCEdit-Unified/blob/master/toolicons/crane.png]^10). Now navigate to the directory 'AlphaWorld'. (\Alpha Conversion\AlphaWorld)(For me this is `C:\Users\T54\Documents\Alpha Conversion\AlphaWorld`.) Once you are in that directory click the drop down menu in the lower right hand corner of the dialog box. Now you should see two menu items:
  42. * Levels and Schimatics
  43. * \*.\*
  44.
  45. Now you should see a file called 'alpha_world'. Double-click on this file and center the green box on your screen and left-click. On the menu to your right you will see three different check boxes. Make sure that they are all checked and then click the button that says 'Import'. A pop-up will appear to tell you that it is performing the operation. Once this has disappeared and the area that you just imported is red (if the area stops being red, it just means that the MCEdit has finished visually updating the chunks). Now press `ctrl+s` to save the world.
  46.
  47. ---
  48.
  49. Now your done! That's it! now you can do what you like with your Minecraft Alpha c0.30_01c world. Edit it in the current version of MCEdit or open it in Minecraft 1.12.X [(or not IDK its your Minecraft Alpha c0.30_01c world)](#spoiler).
  50.

  52.
  53. Anyways have fun and I hope this helps someone at least. (It certainly helped me!)
