51. The year is 2073, where overpopulation, limited fossil fuels and global food shortage have led to the biggest crisis in human history and the enforcement of the strict mandatory one-child-per-family policy, called the "Child Allocation Act". Under those circumstances, the ruthless political activist Nicolette Cayman promises a bright future in a brave new world, while at the same time, Terrence Settman decides to get around the government's decree, in a desperate attempt to hide his septuplet grandchildren. As a result, the siblings named after each day of the week will inevitably take turns impersonating their late mother, Karen Settman, going out in the world only on the corresponding days of the week, sharing information with the rest of the sisterhood every night. And then, one day, something happens to Monday.
 52. In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own.
 53. 'What Happened To Monday' is a remarkable movie. I would almost love it, if it wasn't for a couple of stupid things that damaged it for me. Sorry I can't explain that without SPOILERS.

First, the unnecessary finger cut-off scene. Why unnecessary? Because they are living in a future where medical science has progressed so that for example Tuesday's missing eye can be replaced. But they can't repair a finger with a small artificial limb and prefer to cut off 6 more fingers instead? Second, the logistics behind the freezing operation. We are told siblings all over the world are frozen, so hundred of thousands of them must be stored somewhere. This requires huge facilities with thousands of staff members, doesn't anyone notice they don't exist anywhere? Third, the company in charge wants to pretend everything they do is legal and perfectly okay. And then they shoot passers-by who happen to stand in the way when they are chasing Wednesday? Warfare on their own citizens, does it go unnoticed or what?

Regrettably this movie is far from perfect with quite a lot of holes in it, but still it is very interesting and worth watching for the amazing performance of Noomi Rapace who talks to herself in various roles, from the shy computer nerd to the lazy party girl or the sporty chick. She even has a death scene with herself, how unique is this? I can hardly imagine the workload when you are constantly on the set in one of your 7 roles, shooting and reshooting the same scene from a different perspective. Give it a try - one more reason to watch is that the subject of overpopulation is so serious that you can't think enough about it.
 54. I am giving it 3 stars because the acting is great. Other than that, the story really didn't appeal to me. Being from a large family, I think the story actually sucks. Perhaps it is because I don't have a psychopath for a sibling. I do agree we humans are too many and are destroying the planet. And that will happen until nature wins, because we forget but we do need it to survive. The solution provided in this movie is too horrific (characters don't know what really happens until closer to the end). But basically you have a sweet grandparent that goes beyond efforts to keep his 7 granddaughters safe in a world where one child per couple is allowed. They grow as team, being stronger when working together. In the outside world they share the same persona so they are not discovered.

There is too much fighting and visual, which seems to be in fashion this days.

Now for the MAJOR SPOILER... Don't read ahead if you don't want to:

One of the sisters falls in love and gets pregnant, hiding it from her other sisters. Onde day she disappears. All sisters work together to find and save her, 4 dying along the journey and one being brutally stolen an eye.

What we find out is that the first sister to disappear basically condemned her 6 sisters to being aggressively persecuted, like I said, most die, only she could have her happily ever after with the man she loves and her unborn children.

To me, that woman is a psychopath. Even though the surviving two sisters understand her choice and are set to take care of their nephews (all OK in the taking care of the nephews, but what their sister did has no excuse in my opinion).
 55. Links between climate change, population growth, and a potentially catastrophic worldwide famine are reduced to background plot points. The moral/ethical conundrums of the “solution” are paid lip service but not aggressively integrated into the story.
