  1. **Grand Melee VIII: Miror's Mansion**
  2.
  3. Welcome back again to these shenanigans, figured it was about time to distract from the election aftermath and have a slightly delayed spookfest! Here's the rules this time:
  4. -Everyone will be able to sign up who wants to and participate with no limits to participants! Yes, I am still a madman.
  5. -Weather moves will be usable, but will have no effect inside the mansion itself. Each Pokemon will only get to use a single Room or Terrain attack, and a single use of Gravity. Gravity, Room, and Terrain moves will be most potent within a 20 foot radius around the player and a weakened effect out an additional 10 feet, so 30 feet of coverage in total.
  6. -Magic Room can be easily seen into and have attacks fired into and out of, with the room immediately tapering off into the regular terrain at its edge.
  7. -Getting the most damage on a Pokemon that ends up KO'd will cause your Pokemon to become refreshed, recovering a Heavy amount of energy. Landing the final blow on a Pokemon will restore Good energy in this manner if the trainer did not deal the most damage to the fainting Pokemon.
  8. -Additionally, to encourage other types of play, the player that lands the final blow on a Pokemon will additionally be rewarded half a KO if they were not the one to deal the most damage, with the trainer who did the most damage still receiving the full KO credit. At the end of the Melee, if a trainer has only a fraction of a KO in this manner, it will be rounded upwards (i.e. 1.5 -> 2) for consistency.
  9.
  10. **Grand Melee Info:**
  11. **Rules**
  12. You may use your own Pokemon, however no signatures will be allowed, though Hidden Powers and non-Mega Stone held items are permitted. You may also use a Rental Pokemon from the list below, who have a special twist this time around.
  13. I will be acting as the referee for the GM, and a strict 24 hour deadline for submission of orders will be enforced, and not sending movement or attacks will have the Pokemon play passively and attempt to dodge as necessary. Missing 3 deadlines will have you disqualified.
  14. Due to the potential number of participants, the GM will be done in a 4/6 Health/Energy scale, so be cautious. This may be changed if participant count is lower than otherwise expected.
  15. **Info on Rental Pokemon**
  16. As most everybody is still at low TLs, rentals will be done similarly to the last GM. If you choose to use a rental instead of a Pokemon from your own party, you will be entered into the pool of people picking from the list of rentals. Any Pokemon on the list of any AP rating may be selected by any trainer, in an RNG'd version of first-come, first-served. Once entrants are finalized and before the start of the GM, the order in which rental Pokemon are picked will be rolled and the selection process will go from there. If you are up next to pick and you don't respond within 12 hours, you will be passed up for the next player on the list and inserted randomly into the remainder of the list. Please nickname them and give them a gender. The rentals will also be working through the newly introduced Battle Factory system, and as such will have signatures, items and Hidden Powers already attached to them. To view the sets chosen, the Google Document containing all the Factory information is in the announcements channel.

  76. **Basic Info**
  77. Trainers will see/hear whatever your Pokemon sees/hears via a super dooper indestructible headset. This will allow you to see/hear what it sees/hears, as well as issue orders. Trainers will be provided with information in their personal reffings indicating what their Pokemon knows to be directly around them, while overall maps will be publicly available.
  78. The casters of the event will be casting from a platform above the arena. Their casters booth is a large room floating in the air, inaccessible to participants but you can trade rude gestures with them if you wish. They will provide reffing coverage based on what they can see down below, as well as a few hidden cameras around the arena. This is what everyone will see each round and will be referred to as the "general reffing". Each trainer will also receive a personalized reffing (with much less detail if there is not much happening) to say what they see and hear, etc.
  79. Our "at the scene" correspondents this time will be returning commentators Zarbi the Xatu and Vin the Lunatone. Both will simply observe and use defensive techniques to prevent being hit. Zarbi will typically stick to larger fights in tight corridors, while Vin's camera is a bit stronger but it will be following different Pokemon every now and again so everyone can see a bit of the little things people are doing and their surroundings.
  80. **Signing Up**
  81. As mentioned earlier, any number of people may sign up to participate. Signups will close on Saturday, November 21st, and because streams are a GM tradition, I will do an RNG stream Thursday afternoon (assuming I don't get scheduled for work hahaha 40 hour weeks are killing me) which will give the ability to pick your rentals after being RNG'd into the list, as well as to RNG those who get to select their starting positions. After the stream is done, there will be a 12 hour window MAXIMUM for the player at the top of the list to make their rental choice, being bypassed and thrown randomly further down the list in the event they do not choose in time, going through all the players who have chosen to use rentals. The players who get to choose their starting position can DM/PM me anytime prior to the start of the GM, at which point if they haven't chosen a position will be RNG'd anyways. The rentals window may get curtailed towards the end depending on if people have been taking too long and we're getting too close to the start time. Please be as expeditious as possible with your choices, it'll make everything easier.
  82. After you signup in the thread, please send me either a PM or DM sometime in before the 21st telling me of either the Pokemon you have selected from your own party or informing me that you would like to select a rental Pokemon. As mentioned prior, the order in which you will be able to choose rentals will be RNG'd live and as such you will not choose the Pokemon you want in this DM, but instead just inform me that you would like to go with a rental.
  83.
  84. So now, let's get into the actual distinguishing factors of this GM:
  85. **The Arena**
  86.
  87. Welcome to the Bristol Estate!
  88.
  89. Like a normal, sane GM, overall maps will be provided in the general reffings. Personal maps of surroundings will be provided in each reffing as well. The mansion itself is made of a hardened material that is not able to be passed through by any means. Each dot on the map indicates about a 3 foot space, and the ceiling of most rooms is around 10 feet high, though a few rooms open up to be slightly more spacious spaces. The climate of the mansion is a little on the cooler side, with the dampness of an older home. The event also takes place at night, and there may not be many light sources throughout either the manor or the estate at large, so choose wisely. If you have any questions about symbols used on the map, I will provide a key at some point.
  90.
  91. This GM will be a return to form, and the event will go until there's only one player remaining. Starting position will primarily be randomized by floor or other parts of the estate, though a lucky 25% of the players will get to choose their starting position, which will be RNG'd during the livestream for rentals as well. Movement in the mansion will be about 60 feet per round, if dedicated solely to movement, and around 30 feet if not. Movement will also be scaled for the outdoors to move at a faster pace, outdoor spaces being easier to move through than a cramped mansion and such.
  92.
  93. Throughout the mansion, there will a currency known as Treats scattered, primarily found throughout the rooms of the manor. Treats are found by searching rooms, so while it may take a little of your time to accumulate some proper coinage, it may be worth your while! The amount of Treats found will be a random amount within a certain range, and can be used to purchase Tricks from some of the local residents. These favors will be called in through the indestructible headset, and you can only purchase an effect for a Pokemon you have seen during the GM. The status effects inflicted in this manner can also be blocked in the normal ways status can be blocked in ordinary battles. Have to balance things somehow, amirite? Below are the purchasable effects that will be in the game:
  94. **Treats for Tricks**
  95.
  96. Theft - $10 - Steals a random amount of Treats from another player of your choosing.
  97. Freeze - $20 - Inflicts a localized freeze on a random part of the player of your choosing's body.
  98. Burn - $30 - Inflicts a burn on a random part of the player of your choosing's body.
  99. Speed Debuff - $40 - Lowers the Speed of the player of your choosing, hindering their movement and reactions.
  100. Poison - $50 - Inflicts the player of your choosing with the Poisoned status.
  101. Paralyze - $60 - Inflicts moderate paralysis onto the player of your choosing.
  102. Foresight - $70 - Subjects the player of your choosing to the effects of Foresight.
  103. Sleep - $80 - Puts the player of your choosing to Sleep.
  104. Toxic - $90 - Inflicts the player of your choosing with the Toxic Poisoned status.
  105. Teleport - $100 - The player of your choosing (including the purchasing player, if selected) is teleported to a random position on the map.
  106. The Schedule
  107. Thursday the 19th - Livestream Lottery (probably around 2-3 PM PST)
  108. Saturday the 21st - Deadline for Entries
  109. Thursday the 19th - Sunday the 22nd @ 9 PM PST - Rentals List picks combatants, luck few pick starting locations, everyone else sends normal submissions, DM me on Discord.
  110. Sunday the 22nd - Introductory reffing, locations given with surrounding detail, etc. All private reffings after this will be lacking in detail if there is nothing happening.
  111. Monday the 23rd and onwards - All orders must be sent to me by 9 PM PST. That will be the deadline every day. I will try my absolute best to have the reffing that night before I go to sleep. If something goes wrong and/or I get preoccupied, I will post and say there's a delay and ref ASAP. That will be the only time there isn't a deadline the next day. Otherwise, every 9 PM PST will be the deadline, regardless of when at night the round was reffed. If you cannot do this, then please do not sign up.
  112. To continue to quote Sniz, due to the nature of this massive undertaking, I will not be able to re-ref anything. I'm sorry if this is going to screw someone over, as mistakes do happen but...barring HP/energy mistakes or huuuuge errors, changing how a round was reffed will take as long as doing an entire round. It's not just a matter of editing my general round reffing, but I'd have to look up who was involved and send changed DMs and PMs to people. It wont be easy so I want to avoid it. If small mistakes were made then I apologize.
  113.
  114. Please take any questions to the GM Time Out channel. For the time being this channel will just be for posting that you want to join. That is it for now.
  115.
  116. Remember for your signups that you post in channel that you want to sign up, and then that you either DM or PM me with your Pokemon choice and Hidden Power/item or the fact that you want to use a rental. After the stream, rentals and lucky location-pickers send me your choices as well.
  117.
  118. Have fun and good luck!
