- He gave an experimental swipe. Samus leaned back out of range and then used the momentum and shouldered forward. She started swinging even before she’d slammed into him, she needed the time to get this thing going.
- It would be an overstatement to say Bowser took a step back. He moved, to accommodate Samus’s attack, but he was hardly on the backfoot. When Samus managed to swing the massive hunk of iron, Bowser easily stopped its momentum with one arm.
- The sword dropped like a lead weight to the ground. Samus used the impact to see-saw herself up, over Bowser’s head, and come down with a heavy kick square into his forehead.
- He winced, she pushed back. Still clinging to the sword as an anchor to the ground, she swung away from Bowser and landed and used the momentum to start swinging the sword itself again. Bowser blocked again, but when the sword fell, he rubbed his arm. That spot had to be getting sore by now.
- So Samus hit it some more.
- She swung the sword in from the side again, and again, and again. Each hit didn’t so much as nick his scales, but she could feel the bone underneath rattling each time.
