  1. In came an old junkie, to Klara police station
  2. his shoes were wet and his eyes cold
  3. When he tried to speak he couldn’t get out a note
  4. so he could neither sing not snitch
  5.
  6. We put him in a lonely cell: his bed was wet of blood
  7. Eventually he ran in and out as a child in the house
  8. One day he appeared with a letter and on that letter it said:
  9. ”I sacrificed my shoes for the green light”
  10.
  11. I opened the letter and read as thus:
  12. ”Hi brothers listen now to my story
  13. Once I was a beautiful prince and happy as few
  14. my fathers pride! and my mothers glory!
  15.
  16. One day however, I got my taste of needle
  17. my eyes opened and I bore witness:
  18. Among all the poor fuckers who drive around their car
  19. and live and die and eat inside a box
  20.
  21. So I gave away my inheritance to the first best swine I saw
  22. who ran away and bought himself a drunkenness
  23. And I traded away my castle for amphetamine
  24. which I stored in little capsules on my table
  25.
  26. My father died of wrath, my mother died of sorrow
  27. and I was hated by my own brothers!
  28. but I didn’t give a fuck and I hummed a happy tune
  29. where I lived in a shitty flat in Söder
  30.
  31. The last thing I traded away was my beautiful voice
  32. for Adam’s apple and for fair Eve
  33. I laid to rest between two breasts
  34. for I was tired, and I didn’t want to live”
  35.
  36. Here the letter ended and no eyes were dry
  37. and the chief roared ”Well for fucks sake!
  38. Let out that fucker and see it well that he disappears!”
  39. So there laid our junkie on the streets
  40.
  41. A voice was heard from heaven then, so clear and so pure:
  42. ”Let all your fake emotions flee you!
  43. For this beautiful prince gave away his pretty shine
  44. For this he shall forever live in heaven!”
  45.
  46. You’d think God father here in our town
  47. wouldn’t feel welcome. That’s what you think!
  48. But fifty old junkies like him stood in rows
  49. and stomped and roared: ”Hallelujah!”
  50.
  51. And four delightful angels took the heart from his chest
  52. and laid it in a plastic bag with his needle
  53. And then they slowly raised themselves to Heaven so far
  54. and now it’s getting late, time to end this song
