- In came an old junkie, to Klara police station
- his shoes were wet and his eyes cold
- When he tried to speak he couldn’t get out a note
- so he could neither sing not snitch
- We put him in a lonely cell: his bed was wet of blood
- Eventually he ran in and out as a child in the house
- One day he appeared with a letter and on that letter it said:
- ”I sacrificed my shoes for the green light”
- I opened the letter and read as thus:
- ”Hi brothers listen now to my story
- Once I was a beautiful prince and happy as few
- my fathers pride! and my mothers glory!
- One day however, I got my taste of needle
- my eyes opened and I bore witness:
- Among all the poor fuckers who drive around their car
- and live and die and eat inside a box
- So I gave away my inheritance to the first best swine I saw
- who ran away and bought himself a drunkenness
- And I traded away my castle for amphetamine
- which I stored in little capsules on my table
- My father died of wrath, my mother died of sorrow
- and I was hated by my own brothers!
- but I didn’t give a fuck and I hummed a happy tune
- where I lived in a shitty flat in Söder
- The last thing I traded away was my beautiful voice
- for Adam’s apple and for fair Eve
- I laid to rest between two breasts
- for I was tired, and I didn’t want to live”
- Here the letter ended and no eyes were dry
- and the chief roared ”Well for fucks sake!
- Let out that fucker and see it well that he disappears!”
- So there laid our junkie on the streets
- A voice was heard from heaven then, so clear and so pure:
- ”Let all your fake emotions flee you!
- For this beautiful prince gave away his pretty shine
- For this he shall forever live in heaven!”
- You’d think God father here in our town
- wouldn’t feel welcome. That’s what you think!
- But fifty old junkies like him stood in rows
- and stomped and roared: ”Hallelujah!”
- And four delightful angels took the heart from his chest
- and laid it in a plastic bag with his needle
- And then they slowly raised themselves to Heaven so far
- and now it’s getting late, time to end this song
