Reasoning:  After traveling the land for some time, Salt manages to find Mordred, a renown user of utilizing the soul as a weapon., He's driven by his ambition to pursue the path laid out for him, only to have his first and final lesson laid out before him. To strike out at Mordred with every ounce of his being, or risk being killed outright. With his body lacerated and reduced to a bloodied heap, there's little in the way of him being able to accomplish much of anything. His strength is lacking, and even his blade is scoured in cracks as he stands upon the last portions of his willpower.
