Tales from Ealdwic: The Rats in the walls part 4
A full moon shines overhead in Wales as Phil, George, and Natasha perch upon the stones at Bryn Gwyn. Janis stands next to them, adjusting the pressure on her flame thrower, watching the surrounding fields for signs of trouble. The cats are each fitted with vest called blinker's that act as a short range teleportation device and a set of anima infused carbon steel claws fastened to their front paws. In the distance on the hill where the Browni swarm took the sheep, Jack and the Luminatti Rats stand outside a freshly dug burrow entrance. Clutched in Jac’s mouth is the holographic lure from the hospital, while the Luminatti Rats have each been outfitted with a harness that acts as an elemental focus. Yuuko, who has been directing events via a com link has yet to be seen by anyone though she somehow knows what everyone is doing.)
Yuuko: (the sound of a large machine being assembled can be heard over the com) I am just about ready on my end. Does anyone have any questions before we start?
(The rest of the Anima Cats are patrolling the perimeter of the stones where their comrades, Phil, George and Natasha are in a trance as they focus their anima through the stones.)
 Min-ji: It has begun. May Bastet and Anubis be with us all. It won't be long now.
(Figaro, the fastest Luminatti of the rats, chatters his teeth nervously as the hum of anima streams through the stones in the distance, and his elemental harness.)
Figaro: Hey, does this thing look safe? What if this catches on fire or something? My brothers and I would become bbq'd.
Big Paulie: Shaddap, Figgy and let the pussycats do their thing, and be ready when the mostro pack get here. (Big Paulie looks up as his nose points to the top of the perches of the stones and watches the streams of anima penetrating the stones.) I hope this works. (mutters Big Paulie)
(While Jac and the Luminatti rats stand outside the den, they notice something larger than normal moving around inside, though it seems reluctant to leave the safety of the den)
Shortie : You think he knows something's up, Boss? (Shortie asks Jimmy the Don as he watches the movement inside the burrow.) Browni could be rallying his gang. It will be any moment now. We can't let our guard down for a second. This chump is unpredictable. Very unpredictable. He's like a Don planning his next move in a turf war. Blink of an eye, and next thing you know, you're whacked.
Jac: (biting down on the metal disc, a red mist drifts into the den)
(the mist causes the creature inside to come to the entrance, a pair of spider like legs emerge from the hole pulling the rest of its body behind it, revealing itself to be a severed human head atop 8 legs)
Head:(making a screeching sound, the hill begins to rumble)
Jimmy the Don: Dolce madre di Gaia! What the hell is that? (Jimmy the Don exclaims while he jumps off  of Jac’s back).Contact! CONTACT!
(At the stones, Malcolm and Bunky, deploy two anima energy turrets just outside the perimeter. They both paw on the red buttons and anima hums from both of them,)
Malcolm: Shields up, weapons online, sir. (Malcolm says to Ziggy who was patrolling the perimeter.)
(The swarm emerges from the top of the hill, among them are several dog sized Brownis as well as several Shetland ponies that had been eaten and then reanimated, at the center of the swarm is what looks like a human body walking on its hands and feet, its head and neck twisted so that it faces forward. Atop this creature is a single Browni that seems to be leading the swarm.)
Browni: (causing the creature to rear, he directs the swarm to charge Jac and the rats before leading them in a chant) Baby! Baby! Baby!
(Malcolm and Bunky race from their patrolling stations, to the turrets in ready stance. They peer through their target screens and look for the trouble near the den.)
Jac: (seeing the oncoming swarm he turns towards the stones and begins to run, the disc firmly clutched in his jaws. The Luminatti clinging to his back.)
(A blue light appears on one of the larger Browni’s before it pops in a shower of blood)
Yuuko: (over the com) The longer it takes them to reach the stones the more of them I can pick off.
Bunky: Targets are hot at 500 metres from our position, sir! Awaiting the order. (Bunky says perched on his turret.)
Jac: (Only meters away from the stone circle with the Brownis chanting growing louder as they approach. The chanting is periodically broken by gunfire as yuuko shoots the larger ones.)
Yuuko:get ready they are almost there.
Jimmy the Don: AHHHHH!!! Faster, dog! Faster! Mush!Mush! (Jimmy the Don screams as he and his brothers ride on Jac's back and look behind them at the pursuing swarm hot on Jac's paws.)
Ziggy:Bunky. Malcolm. Provide cover fire. (Ziggy commands as he hears the gunfire from Yuuko's rifle.)
(Bunky and Malcolm fire up the turrets and a hail of rapid fire bullets shoot out from the barrels behind Jac and the rats.)
(As Jac and the rats enter the circle, the swarm suddenly splits in two one half heads north into the woods the other floods into the circle descending on the animals with in. The rats in the second half of the swarm seem to be drawing most of Yuuko’s fire, while the half in the circle attempt to stop the summoning)
Alexei:(pacing relentlessly underneath his mate Natasha's perch, fiercely hisses as he sees the incoming swarm. He claws the ground with his carbon steel claws and rallies Ziggy, Trixie, Min-ji, Prince Bigglesworth and his twin brother Prince Albert, with Oksana and Dr. Lox behind them. He swipes the ground with his claw,  the scream of claws sound like clashing swords.)
Bigglesworth: Chaaaarge!
Janis: (powers the flamethrower and shotgun and picks off the rats attempting to climb the perches of the three cats with full barrel rounds.)
 Alexei: (leads the charge by tackling the bigger rats with a flurry of claws while taking bites from the smaller rats on his back. He paws the ground and it shakes the rats off balance and rams the bigger rat onto the smaller rats.)
(As cats, dogs and rats clash with the swarm, more of the human monstrosities begin to emerge from the hill, severed hands and legs with insect like appendages, more severed heads atop their spider like legs, and another twisted human mount. The swarm in the woods seems to be growing as Yuuko's shots become less frequent.)
Ziggy: (has problems of his own, while protecting George's perch, he's getting chewed on by a swarm of rats. Defending himself with his claws and teeth.)
Min-ji: (Using her short range teleport, she appears behind the swarm climbing George's perch and digs her claws into the rats clinging to Ziggy.)
(Bigglesworth and Albert notice another swarm ready to descend upon them.)
Bigglesworth: Incoming from the woods. Bunky. Malcolm. Fire at will!
(Bunky and Malcolm turn their turrets to the north to meet the emerging swarm descending from the woods. They fire at the swarm relentlessly with burst rounds and then rapid fire, as the rats continue to swarm out of the hill as the cats kill more and more of them. In the distance they see Yuuko leaving the forest, her rifle slung over her shoulder and something clutched in her hands. Behind her is swarm of Browni’s that is easily twice the size of the one in the circle. As the swarm in the circle turns its attention to Yuuko they abandon the fight with the cats to chase her. The stones are at 75%capacity. The cats, and the rats and Jac the dog, are shaking themselves in disbelief as they take notice of the human.)
Janis: (takes off running to Yuuko's position with her flamethrower. Burning down all the rats in her way to get to her.)
Ziggy: (turns to Bigglesworth and asks) Do we pursue them, Your Highness?
Bigglesworth: No, stay in position. All of you. In case the swarm does decide to turn to us once more. Maintain high priority alert.
(The swarm catches fire behind Yuuko as she turns towards the stone circle and begins running towards it (the stones are now at about 90%). The now flaming swarm seeming to increase in speed.)
Malcolm: They are making a turnaround, Admiral! Full speed, sir! Orders? (Malcolm screeches out to Bigglesworth as he picks up the incoming swarm behind Yuuko.)
(The cats take their positions underneath the three stones perched by their comrades and readies their focuses to full power. The rats and Jac (with the disc still in his mouth) standing by with harnesses at the ready to wreak elemental and chaos to the rats incoming.)
Bigglesworth: (The munchkin Prince looks up and notices the Anima surrounding the stones getting brighter and brighter.)
Prince Albert: Maintain position. It's almost over. But be ready for anything.
Bigglesworth: Soon... Very soon.
(As Yuuko runs into the circle and attempts to climb a stone, the flaming swarm enters the circle as the stone reaches 100% . As they enter the circle, the flaming rats are extinguished as the moon overhead is blacked out and the swarm turns its attention towards the sky. Next to George appears a black cat with yellow eyes looking down at the swarm, growling at Browni on the human mount.)
Browni: (Visibly shaken by the cat, he begins muttering to himself) Browni no go!, Browni no go! (Outside the circle more cats begin to appear. Every size, breed, and color, seems to be outside the circle, circling the stones counter clockwise, their eyes fixed on the swarm.)
Figaro: (Figaro and the other five rats gaze upon the big black cat with yellow eyes so bright it's almost like the burning sun, figaro turns to Jimmy.) Should we start running, Boss?
(Suddenly, one of the cats outside the circle leaps into the air turning a transparent blue in the process. The others soon join him circling in the sky over head, forming a swirling cloud of cats around the now visible moon. The Luminattis climb on the back of Jac cowering in fear as more and more cats from all of the breeds of the world, both ancient and regal, appear before the swarm.)
Oksana: Beautiful. (She whispers as she bears witness to the events unfolding, looking up to the sky.)
Browni: Browni no go! Browni no go!
Bigglesworth: Fall back, cats. Fall back. (Bigglesworth and Albert whisper as the cats fall back to the glowing stones and wait.)
(As the swarm tries to run, an unseen force begins sucking the Browni’s and their creations up into the sky drawing them up towards the moon. Browni clings to ground screaming in terror as his skin is pulled from his body followed by his flesh and bones leaving behind only a rats tail wrapped in gray hair. As the last of the swarm is pulled into the sky, the cats overhead begin to disappear. Bunky and Malcolm dismount from their turrets to join the rest of the cats as the painful terror of Browni's demise unfolds from the wrath of the ancient feline army. Ignoring the screams of Browni as he is being lifted and torn apart limb from limb, the cats extend their paws to their heads, as their version of salute and respect to their ancient and unknown ally.)
(Outside the stone circle appears a massive white tiger, who approaches the Rat tail wrapped in hair and sniffs it cautiously. The cats still in salute, the rats and Jac stand in total awe and silence as the white tiger approaches the circle. The tiger watches the animals carefully before swallowing the rat tail leaving the circle and then vanishing into the night. There is no sign that the swarm ever existed or that a battle had ever taken place except for the agents and their equipment. Phil, Natasha, and George come down from their perches, out of trance and join the cats in celebrating their victory with Jac and the rats.)
Jimmy the Don: Haha! Take that you mostro rats! (Exclaims a jubilant Jimmy the Don along with his brothers.)
(The cats nuzzle up against each other's heads and faces as they celebrate in their own way. Dr. Lox and Oksana attend to each one involved today, checking and healing injuries on the spot.)
Bunky: It could have been worse, man! (Bunky says while dismantling the turrets into a box size object.) That was the coolest sight I had ever seen!
Natasha: (nuzzles up with Alexei as she looks up and paws lightly at the stones,) It's unfortunate that these stones are no longer together. I should return one day and study them. When Alexei and I have a free day.
Yuuko:(stuffing whatever was in her hand back in her pocket, she takes out her phone to snaps a photo of the stones before dismantling her sniper rifle and then turning to bow to the cats,) Thank you everyone for all your hard work.
Ziggy: I can't wait to get home and tell Mira about what happened tonight. She would not believe what we had just seen. (Ziggy says as he celebrates.)
Janis: (packing her flamethrower and shotgun, as she pats Yuuko on the shoulder.) So it is done. You had me friggin worried there when you had the swarm at your back.
Yuuko: We should probably still search Dr. West's home, but we don't have to worry about Browni any more and everyone made it out in one piece. So over all i'd say to night has gone very well.
Janis: Lalina won't have to worry anymore, that is for damn sure. You have my number, just give me a call and I'm there. (Looks at the animals sharing in the celebration.) Think we'll stick around here for the rest of the weekend. This place is peaceful and quiet. Great place for a picnic. Care to join us?
Yuuko: I have to return to London and give my report to the council envoy there. But I think I can stick around for a picnic before I leave to catch my train.
Janis: This should be fun. I'll return to the house and pack up some baskets. May have to go into town and pick up a few things. (yawn) But first, time for some sleep. And I don't think these guys are gonna sleep either, they are too riled up about today.
