  2. [20:25] <Frederick> As the sun begins to set, you begin to see your destination.
  3. [20:32] <Frederick> The picture that lies before you looks almost exactly like it did on the postcard: A large, walled city with a river that runs right through it.
  4. [20:32] <Frederick> There is one difference though; There wasn't a tower on the postcard.
  5. [20:33] <Frederick> At least, there wasn't one so tall that it seemed to almost kiss the sky
  6. [20:34] * ~Kai scratches his chin and furrows his brow
  7. [20:34] <~Kai> "odd..."
  8. [20:36] <Frederick> As you make your way to the city gate, you are greeted by a middle-aged man with a hat that seems to be on just a little too tight.
  9. [20:37] <Frederick> Gatekeeper: "State your name and business, please."
  10. [20:38] <~Kai> "I am Kai Mandan, and I am here to test my strength."
  11. [20:39] <Frederick> the man raises an eyebrow. "Test your...What?"
  12. [20:40] <Frederick> A look of realization suddenly flashes on his face. "Oh! You're here for THAT! Alright, kid. I assume you still got that postcard?"
  13. [20:41] * ~Kai takes it from the waistband of his pants, as he has no pockets, and shows the postcard, which is slightly damp with sweat "I apologize for the condition of it, I had no place else to put it"
  14. [20:44] <Frederick> The man reluctantly grabs the corner of the postcard. "Eugh, well at least it's in one piece." He holds it up against the light. "Well the ink's a bit smudged, but the watermark's still intact."
  15. [20:48] <Frederick> the man bulls a bag from under his desk, and drops it on top with a loud thunk "Okay, so everything you need for that tournament is in this bag. I reccommend putting on that little bracelet in there first thing."
  16. [20:49] * ~Kai picks up the bag and surveys the contents
  17. [20:50] <Frederick> "There's also a tourist's guide with some good fighting locations highlighted, and some cash to pay for room, board, and whatever else you need."
  18. [20:52] <Frederick> "You want my advice though? Spend some of that money on some pants with pockets, or at the very least a backpack."
  19. [20:53] <~Kai> "A man who must rely on tools to survive, is not truly a man"
  20. [20:53] <~Kai> "But i will keep your advice in mind"
  21. [20:58] <Frederick> "Alright, so the guys running the tournament want everyone to meet up in the kane tower in the center of the town about 3 days from now. Be sure to show that bracelet to the guards at the door, or they won't let you in."
  22. [20:58] <~Kai> "I understand" Kai says with a nod
  23. [20:59] <Frederick> "But like I said, that's 3 days from now, so find something to do in the meanwhile. Maybe take a tour of the city, scout out some of the places in the book."
  24. [21:00] <Frederick> "And one last thing, it's pretty much a formality for contestants, but I need to stamp your passport. The cops in this town are real by-the-book about that kind of stuff."
  25. [21:01] <~Kai> "Passport?"
  26. [21:02] <Frederick> "Yeah, I mean, come on. Everyone who travels these days has a passport."
  27. [21:03] <~Kai> "I do not"
  28. [21:04] <~Kai> "I have been in the mountains for 3 years, so forgive me for being ignorant of the new customs"
  29. [21:05] <Frederick> The man sighs and begins looking under his desk once more. "I swear, as if my job wasn't hard enough already."
  30. [21:06] <Frederick> He pulls out a large box with a lens in the center. "Alright, I'll need you to hold still for a second while I take your picture. Give me a nice big smile while you're at it"

  34. [21:09] <Frederick> A bright light fills your eyes and blinds you for a moment.
  35. [21:10] <Frederick> "Well, it's not the most flattering picture, but they won't throw you out of town for it."

  38. [22:45] <Frederick> the tall tower chimes out six times, the gongs are so loud, you can hear it clearly even from the edge of the city.

  40. [22:46] * ~Kai checks out some of the palces int he book, and mainly just gets a eel for the town

  42. [22:48] <Frederick> As you walk through the city, the lamposts begin to light up.
  43. [22:49] <Frederick> Despite how late it's getting, the streets are still crowded, Especially in the market area.

  47. [22:56] <Frederick> You see a young girl walk into an alleyway, unaware of the hooded man holding a knife that's following her.
  48. [22:58] * ~Kai immediatly diverts his course and follows. he doesnt make it obvious but he's not trying to hide it either
  49. [22:59] <Frederick> The hooded man speaks. "Alright, girlie. Turn around slowly, and put your hands up where I can see them."
  50. [23:01] <~Kai> "Actually"
  51. [23:01] <~Kai> "I think you should do that"
  52. [23:03] <Frederick> The man glances in your direction. "Yeah? And just how are you going to make me, pallie?"
  53. [23:08] * ~Kai takes his fist, and cocks it back "Hageshī..."
  54. [23:09] <~Kai> "/me s fist is enveloped in light green swirls of wind and he releases the punch the swirls erupting like a tornado around his fist "Senpūken!"

  68. [23:20] <Frederick> The woman smiles. "I'm fine, but you didn't have to do that."
  69. [23:21] <~Kai> "It would have been wrong of me not to. It is only just to protect a person in danger"
  70. [23:23] <Frederick> You get a better look at the woman for the first time. She's fairly short, and very young. She's probably eighteen at the most. Her long blonde hair twists into drill-like curls dangling on her back and over her shoulders.
  71. [23:24] <Frederick> Her dress, while a little worn for the wear, is still very elegant. You suspect that while she's fairly wealthy, she's seen her fair shair of hardships.
  72. [23:26] * ~Kai gives the girl a slight bow "Now that I know all is well, I will take my leave. I can see with my own eyes that you can take care of yourself from here"
  73. [23:27] <Frederick> "You save a young girl, but you won't even give her your name?"
  74. [23:28] <~Kai> "If you would ask I would say, but i would not want to burden a person with the name of lowly man such as I"
  75. [23:28] <Frederick> "Nonsense."
  76. [23:29] <Frederick> The woman extends her hand towards you. You notice that she has a bracelet on her arm, similar to the one that you obtained from the gatekeeper. "Wild. Lillian wild."
  77. [23:29] * ~Kai takes her hand firmly "You may call me Kai. Kai Mandan"
  78. [23:30] * ~Kai see's the bracelet, but makes no comment on it
  79. [23:32] <Frederick> the
  80. [23:33] <Frederick> Lillian smiles. "I see, well Mister Mandan, I suppose we'll meet eachother aga-"
  81. [23:33] <Frederick> A loud voice booms from behind you. "MISS WILD! How many times must I tell you to not wander off!"
  82. [23:34] <~Kai> "I should take my leave"
  83. [23:34] * ~Kai turns to leave
  84. [23:36] <Frederick> A man not much older than you brushes by you. His red cheeks and forehead betray the otherwise calm look on his face.
  85. [23:37] * ~Kai walks off without another word
  86. [23:38] <Frederick> As you walk off, you hear Lillian say, "Honestly Andrew, you're no fun at all."
  87. [23:38] <Frederick> End.
