  12. This document provides guidelines on using AVerTV Volar HX/AX/MAX driver
  13. installer. The main purpose of the installer is to help user install
  14. driver for the running kernel. If you reboot to another kernel or upgrade
  15. your kernel, the installer should be executed again to install
  16. driver for the new kernel.
  17.  
  18. The following products are supported by the installer:

  20. 1. AVerTV Hybrid Volar HX/AX/Lite (A827)
  21. 2. AVerTV Hybrid Volar MAX (H826)
  22. 3. DVD EZMaker USB Gold (C038)
  23.  
  24. 1.1 Supported Distributions
  25.  
  26. This version of driver installer supports kernel 2.6.17~2.6.31.
  27. Most distributions with these kernel versions are supported.
  28. If you kernel falls outside this range, the installer will still
  29. try to install the most suitable version.

  31. The following distributions, with their stock kernel, are officially
  32. tested and supported:

  34. 1. Open SuSE Linux 10.3
  35. 2. Mandriva Linux 2008
  36. 3. Fedora Core Release 6
  37. 4. Fedora Core Release 7
  38. 5. Ubuntu 7.10
  39. 6. Ubuntu 8.10
  40. 7. Ubuntu 9.04
  41. 8. Ubuntu 9.10
  42. 9. Mandriva Linux 2009

  44. Currently, only X86 and X86_64 architectures are supported. Other architectures
  45. such as ARM, MIPS, PPC and etc. are not yet supported.

  49. If you customize your own kernel, make sure to enable support for DVB, Video
  50. For Linux, and USB in the kernel configuration. General users can safely skip
  51. this section.

  56. Suggestions and bug reports are very welcome. If you have any question
  57. not answered by this document or have any suggestions regarding our product

  62. It would help if you can provide /tmp/H826D-install.log, which is generated by
  63. the installer. It contains much detailed information regarding your system and
  64. how installer operates.

  67. 4. Known Issues
  68.  
  69. I. Unable to support Ubuntu 8.04 kernels. Users of Ubuntu 8.04 are
  70. recommended to upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 or build their own kernel.

  72. II. Driver fails to install or load, if user upgraded ALSA drivers
  73. from alsa-driver source packages.
  74.  
  75. III. Only V4L2 applications are supported. V4L applications such as XawTV
  76. are not supported and can not work with our driver.
