- What would you like to change in how gamemode currently works?
- - Alteration of team presets: as a simulator mode, with no nametags, nor identification of allies/enemies beyond radar IFF, learning the silhouettes of aircraft becomes essential for combat. Thus, having teams properly divided is also essential. In the jet tiers, it should no longer be possible to create a lobby with the WWII team preset (i.e. Allies vs Axis). It makes no sense for the Americans to be paired up with the Soviets, for US Starfighters to be facing Italian Starfighters, for British Phantoms to be hostile to Japanese Phantoms, for NATO to be fighting against France (regardless of era), etc. Similarly, for lower tiers, restrict them to the Allies vs Axis team presets. Just to provide an example: if there is an EC 6 game with the standard Allies vs Axis preset, there is the possibility for US F-84s to be fighting against Italian F-84s. Neither of these jets have radar IFF, thus one has to waste precious moments first visually identifying a target as an F-84, then extensively cross-checking the list of jets flown by their team (also blocking the entire cockpit view with the scoreboard overlay the whole time), and if there are no other F-84s on your team, then you can confidently assume that the target is an enemy. However, if at least one member of your team is also flying an F-84, you have no other way of determining whether the target is an ally or enemy other than getting in close enough to either obtain the allies' blue nametag, or the lack of nametag (indicating an enemy). This entire process is unrealistic in the jet tiers, and is avoidable by properly grouping nations based on era (WWII, Cold War).
- - Subdivision of certain nations' trees: as it stands, jet pilots in the German tree will *never* be able to fly on the side of the US and other NATO allies. This is despite the German tree, from rank V onwards, having access to *both* Western and Eastern jets (i.e. US-exported fighters and Soviet MiGs). In-line with the above change to team presets, subdivide the German tree such that West Germany can fly with NATO and other Western Allies, and East Germany flies with the Soviet Union and China. Similarly, the Chinese tree also needs to be subdivided, such that Taiwanese jets do not fly with Soviet and PRC jets. The flags for all of these nations are currently displayed when viewing the jets' stat cards (meaning that the delineation between e.g. West/East Germany, and ROC/PRC, is present), so please modify the matchmaker in air sim to accomodate this change. I would love to fly my German fighters with NATO allies, and vice versa for the Warsaw Pact.
- - Allow users to manually create their own team presets when creating a lobby: only if, for whatever reason, the first recommendation cannot be implemented. This would allow the players themselves to create the first recommendation's changes, but ideally it would be best if Gaijin themselves implemented this change into the matchmaker for air sim EC.
- What would you like to be removed from EC mode?
- - Removal of WWII (Axis vs Allies) team presets in the jet tiers (primarily EC 6 - 8) - see above recommendation
- - Removal of Cold War (NATO vs Warsaw Pact) team presets in the prop tiers (primarily EC 2 - 4) - see above recommendation
- What would you like to add to the mode to further improve it?
- - Addition of sub-trees to the German and Chinese trees (adding West Germany, East Germany, Taiwan / Republic of China and People's Republic of China) to allow for more accurate and realistic matchmaking - see above recommendations
- - Addition of a Commonwealth tech tree: perhaps as a sub-tree of the British tech tree, or as its own offering. Primarily including props and jets from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Africa. Most of the models of these planes already exist in game, or would require slight modification. As an Australian, I would absolutely *love* to be able to fly a CAC Sabre, with a Royal Australian Air Force camouflage, or to fly Royal Australian Navy / RNZAF A-4 Skyhawks with their camouflages, Commonwealth Spitfires, Canadair Sabres, etc. A lot of these camouflages can also be sourced from the WT Live community, whom have taken it upon themselves to create many of the above Commonwealth camouflages.
