  124. 2-pdr Mark VIII (115rpm) - To be replaced by improved HV mountings when available.
  125.
  126. Notes:
  127. Armour protection is comparable with French Dunkerque-class battleships, and in conjunction with the main armament provides a comfortable margin of superiority over the German Deutschland-class heavy cruisers. The all-forward arrangement of the heavy guns reduces necessary armour weight as well as maximising chase firepower.
  128. At 33 knots, she can easily match our cruisers as well as the Hood, and she should be able to keep up with the Japanese heavy cruisers sufficiently well for practical purposes.
  129.
  130. While inferior to the Scharnhorst-class battleships at closer ranges, she can engage them on equal or superior terms in a band around roughly 20,000 to 34,000 yards.
  131.
  132.
  133. Barbettes are 10" above armoured deck only; average thickness over freeboard height is given due to SS limitations.
  134.
  135. Belt absolute height is 10 feet, 6 feet above water, 4 feet below.
  136. Protected deck over steering gear covers half of quarterdeck length, having 4" deck and 10" slopes.
  137. SPS consists of an extended double hull and one 1/4" bulkhead forming a void-oil-void array backed by a 1" longitudinal bulkhead.
  138.
  139. Misc. equipment:
  140. Below deck: 2 hangars w/ 2 seaplanes (100t)
  141. On deck: Cross-deck cat(50t)
  142. Above deck: Heavy Crane(25t), Flagship Facilities(100t)
  143. Seaplanes are expected to be Fairey Swordfish or Blackburn Shark reconnaissance floatplanes, though other aircraft may be embarked. There is sufficient deck space to carry an additional 3-5 aircraft, if necessary.
