Defensive Incineroar provides a short lived counter to a wide array of pokemon in Vanilluxe, Decidueye, Psychic-types like Sigilyph and Delphox just to name a few. Incineroar has the unique quality to take on all of these. On top of this, Incineroar can pivot around with U-turn, provide Knock Off support and spread the Burn status with Will-O-Wisp, even limiting traditional answerers like Rhydon and Passimian's usefulness when switched in to wall the expected Swords Dance set. Lastly Fire Blast or Flare Blitz is chosen as the preferred STAB, one coming with the ability to 2HKO Steelix and preserve as much as possible HP by preventing recoil damage where as the other does more damage overall, misses out on the 2HKO on Steelix and gives notable recoil damage limiting your durability. With a Figy Berry it increases it's durability and allowing it to come into attacks from Vanilluxe repeatedly and even being able to mitigate your weakness to Stealth Rock. This being said however, the set comes with the glaring weakness to Stealth Rock and heavily relies on the berry to remain active, meaning it can't afford to switch into Sneasel or common Knock Off users. Furthermore it also tends to lack damage output despite the respectable 115 base attack and powerful stabs, it often falls short on picking up the KO's against Physical walls like Vileplume.
