BACKGROUND | to many others Augusts situation seems sad and hard to understand but he himself never really thought of it that way. He simply has a big family in his eyes. When he was nine his father and mother divorced because they simply knew they wouldn't work out in a relationship. There wasn't a big fight and August never felt any negative emotions against both. A year after his father got badly sick and had to stay home with his new wife. In the same year his mother got fired and needed to find a new job. His father couldn't raise him because of his health and his mother couldn't earn enough money to raise him properly so both him and his brother were sent to a foster family. Pieter, his brother, had most trouble with leaving his family especially because he was going to live with friends of his steph father in France and his little brother in South Korea with friends of their father. August himself also cried a lot however got over it in about a year. The family meets up every Christmas in Belgium at the father's home. Growing up in Korea August never really had much friends but kept smiling, always staying positive. He called his brother a lot and relied on his former moms when he felt home sick.
Now that he is sixteen he has no problems with his situation at all. He loves his family and is happy in Korea, despite being rather bad at speaking and writing the language. Reading is no problem but communicating is harder. With his Korean parents he speaks English most of the time and with his Belgian family Dutch and sometimes French with his brother.
