  1. Do something, Adrian. Anything. Focus that energy elsewhere. Be productive. Make progress.
  2.
  3. The thought played over in his head on loop. It never seemed to subside. Over and over, it bounced from one side of his cranium to the other.
  4.
  5. Eventually?
  6.
  7. It stuck. Adrian made his way into the living room of his newly constructed vista. He walked over to one of the many bookshelves and removed an unblemished tome. Then he made his way to his study, and removed the circlet from the chest where he stored it.
  8.
  9. He could do it.
  10.
  11. Time, patience. Dedication. Those were the foundations of the organization he had erected so many years ago. And they were the very things that drove him to work so diligently.
  12.
  13. Adrian folded his hands on top of each other. A runic circle appeared beneath the circlet. His peer, Drew Idd, had already imprinted the formulas onto his mind. But were they.. sufficient?
  14.
  15. The former Champion of Focalar hada keen eye. Before he could do anything, he'd have to ensure that there was no problems with the runic theory. Then? Then he could really dig in.
  16.
  17. It wasn't anything as grandeur as the projects being worked on by the collective members of the Galeford Research Association. Dylerun and Drew had already done their parts. The rest was all up to Adrian.
  18.
  19. It seemed simple enough.
  20. (Adrian Montbell)
  21.
  22. There was an error.
  23.
  24. He recalled Drew's words. Adrian remembered what he was proposing. It seemed simple enough. In theory? It was. But there were certain variables he had yet to consider.
  25.
  26. The orchilacum would prove useful. It was the perfect conduit for the kind of runes that would be required to make the circlet function as intended.
  27.
  28. There were three objective truths, two things that Adrian knew for certain: with a proper power source, a proper conduit, and the proper runic theory?
  29.
  30. There was nothing runewriting could not do.
  31.
  32. Dylerun had seen to it that the conduit was properly constructed. All that was left was determining the power source, and perfecting the theory.
  33.
  34. A power source. What could properly adhere to the desired functions of the device?
  35.
  36. The goal was simple: create an illusionary talisman that could mimic the appearance of one's soul in it's prime. If done properly? It could revolutionize the freedoms of the undead in the motherland. Pave the way for new opportunities.
  37.
  38. Alas, Adrian wasn't going to develop it with that in mind. No. His desires were much, much more selfish. All he wanted was to face his children. To interact with them without fearing that the stench of decay encompassing him scared them away. To allow his wife to feel his touch again.
  39.
  40. Illusion magic seemed to be the way to go.
  41. (Adrian Montbell)
  42.
  43. Necromancy. Runewriting.
  44.
  45. It would require both, if it was going to work as intended. The ladder he could do all by his lonesome, but the necromancy? He'd have to refer to Drew for that aspect.
  46.
  47. Adrian examined the runic arrays that were still engrained in his mind. Drew's handiwork seemed functional, practical. A design crafted to serve its purpose and function. It wasn't enough.
  48.
  49. It required more intricacies. More contingences to ensure that said function was met flawlessly.
  50.
  51. Adrian flipped open the tome to his side, quickly procuring a quill from the desk as he began to improve the runes originally issued by the elusive Drew Idd. There was nothing inherently wrong with them.
  52.
  53. Alas, they required some touch ups. One's that Adrian quickly saw to administrating.
  54. (Adrian Montbell)
