1) Sargon, the Alt-Right and the Normalization of Hatred

This is a collection of information regarding Carl Benjamin a.k.a. Sargon of Akkad and his connection to alt-right wing movements like Kekistan and the Proud Boys.
A Florida teen, Gregory Ramos strangled his mother for 30mins and lied to the police in an attempt to frame the murder as a burglary. Gregory describes himself as a "raging conservative" and his social media is plastered with Kekistan symbology. He was devoted Sargon of Akkad's fan, having a playlist consisting of hundreds of videos.
Here, I intend to show how Sargon of Akkad acts as an introduction to alt-right talking points and groups. This primes young men to be susceptible to the extremism that leads to incidents such as Charlottesville, Berkley and the Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting. The media has covered the end result of this indoctrination into the alt-right, but little has been said about the important formative time where a young man is gradually exposed this dangerous ideology.

Sargon, by his admission and claims by other alt-right youtubers, was instrumental in the popularization of Kekistan. He also engaged with the movement for years after its inception, encouraging his audience to commit acts of graffiti with intention to cause a panic.

9) Sargon's Targeted Harassment

Tim Squirrel
On 14/12/2018, Sargon uploaded a video titled 'Then They Came For SubscribeStar' in retaliation to comments made by Tim Squirrel regarding the patreon alternative site Sargon migrated to. In the video, Sargon shows Tim's twitter and angrily rants about Tim's tweets condemning Subscribestar for becoming a platform for the altright.
Upon being exposed to Sargon's audience, Tim received a deluge of hate.

This was triggered directly by Sargon' video. Few would have known about Tim Squirrel if it weren't for Sargon's video. Sargon did not specifically say "go and raid this" but intention is irrelevant. His actions caused the raiding and stalking of Tim. He was clearly angry at Tim for asking reasonable questions about Subscribestar. He is not naive and knew exactly what would happen by displaying Tim's twitter.



Kristi Winters

Sadly, Sargon's campaign against Tim was not an isolated case. Sargon has a long history of abusing Kristi Winters online. She has debated him twice on the topic of feminism; both ended poorly for Sargon. After their first debate in April 2016, he stalked and harassed her.

I hope this helps demonstrate how Sargon of Akkad serves as an introduction to altright ideology. Although he prefers to chuckle at everything he does, there's a more sinister appeal to it all. By wrapping extremist rhetoric in a jovial wrapper, young men are being fed a dangerous narrative. It's akin to adopting a lion cub because it's cute and not acknowledging that it will grow into a deadly animal. There's nothing funny about racism, extremism and misogyny. Do not be a platform for hate.
