In which Minali comes in peace

  1. <yzabtech[DM]> --START--
  2. <Minali_Pranta> In our last episode, Minali has gotten the jump on an ogre soaked on poison water and is trying to hit him with a receptacle.
  3. <Minali_Pranta> She would much rather reason her way out, but since the goal was to die, this seemed like the easier option.
  4. <yzabtech[DM]> ((i'm asking a question to the DM chat, sorry))
  5. <yzabtech[DM]> ((i'm new to the DMing thing and i don't know how surprise attacks work))
  6. <yzabtech[DM]> ((ok i got it))
  7. <yzabtech[DM]> You throw the poison water at the ogre, who is very surprised by the sudden attack, and recoils for a bit. You also throw the receptacle at him, and he gets hit by it. He appears mostly undamaged, yet very, very angry.
  8. <Minali_Pranta> Minali runs past the ogre and upwards!
  9. <yzabtech[DM]> The ogre runs after you. You spot many other enemies ahead, such as more ogres, and basilisks.
  10. <yzabtech[DM]> Your sprite, floating after you, advises that maybe this wasn't the best idea.
  11. <Minali_Pranta> Minali asks the sprite "welll what then? Not like I can fly!"
  12. <yzabtech[DM]> The sprite says that there's only one thing that's possible now. "Remember the golden cave entrance ahead on this spiral path?"
  13. <Minali_Pranta> "The one with the light????? Go through it?????"
  14. <yzabtech[DM]> "Correct. It will give enough experience to deal with the gauntlet ahead of you."
  15. <yzabtech[DM]> There is another ogre along the spiral pathway, and you see a basilisk climbing down from the top.
  16. <Minali_Pranta> "OK!!!!!" Minali runs up and tries to dodge the ogre and the basilisk. PARKOURRRRR
  17. <yzabtech[DM]> Roll dexterity.
  18. <yzabtech[DM]> ((wait hold on i'm oging to get the dicebot in here))

  27. <yzabtech[DM]> You don't manage to dodge the second ogre and the basilisk. The basilisk blocks your way, and the ogre hops on the basilisk like a knight riding a horse except it's some weird monster thing riding a snake, and the snake has a cocktail sausage for a head.

  30. <yzabtech[DM]> You don't manage to dodge the second ogre and the basilisk. The basilisk blocks your way, and the ogre hops on the basilisk like a knight riding a horse except it's some weird monster thing riding a snake, and the snake has platypus feet.
  31. <yzabtech[DM]> The first ogre stands behind you, weakened but still capable of fighting.
  32. <Minali_Pranta> Minali tries the I COME IN PEACE manouver ((says here: When rolling Initiative, make a Persuasion versus Insight check against every enemy.))
  33. <Minali_Pranta> ((or is it too late to roll initiative coz I'm already in it?))

  35. <yzabtech[DM]> ((for the 2nd ogre and the basilisk it's not too late but for the first ogre it is))

  48. <yzabtech[DM]> ((3 skill points in persuasion? i checked your character sheet and you don't have any technically, it's sort of confusing because base modifier and skill points are grouped together instead of being noted separately))
  49. <yzabtech[DM]> ((i'm going to fix it))
  50. <Minali_Pranta> ((I know i'd added some to it over time))
  51. <Minali_Pranta> ((but I tended to just add them together))
  52. <yzabtech[DM]> ((just noted them separately, you have one extra unused skill point))
  53. <yzabtech[DM]> ((reddeming this skill point would be useful))
  54. <Minali_Pranta> ((plus one persuasion, so now I have 4!))
  55. <Minali_Pranta> ((well, 3+1))
  56. <yzabtech[DM]> ((alright, since your persuasion roll gets a bonus because of your level and a bonus because of that extra persuasion point, your new roll is 16))
  57. <yzabtech[DM]> The 2nd ogre believes your maneuver, and just wanders off elsewhere. Probably to get some popcorn. The basilisk, however, is having none of it, and gets ready to attack.

  70. <yzabtech[DM]> The basilisk thinks that maybe it's not worth it. Some other guys will handle the pest. The basilisk wanders off to get some popcorn.

  72. <Minali_Pranta> you head on up to the golden room, hoping the first ogre gets the hint and leaves you alone
  73. <yzabtech[DM]> The first ogre does not get the hint, and keeps pathetically stumbling after you.
  74. <Minali_Pranta> Oh well. Time's awasting. You speed on up, maybe you can outrun him
  75. <yzabtech[DM]> ((using a dash action gets rid of your major action (attacking and stuff) to double your movement pool (go twice as fast in one turn).))
  76. <Minali_Pranta> ((how do I do that?))
  77. <yzabtech[DM]> ((just say you use it. You said that Minali will "speed on up" so I assume you're using a dash action))
  78. <yzabtech[DM]> ((Just want to make sure))
  79. <Minali_Pranta> ((yup!))
  80. <yzabtech[DM]> You dash ahead, and you're met with another basilisk. The ogre and the basilisk from before are sitting on a ledge above you, eating popcorn.

  83. <Tyche[Dice]> (1d20+2) = [10+2] ==> {12}.
  84. <Minali_Pranta> Minali yells to the popcorn-munching monsters. "Hey, wanna fill them in?"
  85. <yzabtech[DM]> The basilisk looks at you, and then at the basilisk you're about to fight. It shrugs, and continues eating popcorn. The ogre conveys to the basilisk you're about to fight what just happened by a series of grunts.
  86. <yzabtech[DM]> The basilisk you're about to fight laughs, and looks at you with a look of determination. He's not having none of it.

  97. <Minali_Pranta> You are reminded of the imps over at the art gallery. "Look, I don't want to hurt you. Just let me pass and you can go eat all the popcorn you like. OK?"
  98. <yzabtech[DM]> The basilisk runs towards you, and tries to attack. It goes for your head and misses.
  99. <yzabtech[DM]> ((wait darn forgot to roll for actual attack))
  100. <yzabtech[DM]> ((was reading another roll))
  101. <yzabtech[DM]> ((ignore my previous line sorry))

  106. <yzabtech[DM]> The basilisk tries to bite your head, and misses. It hisses at you in response to your request to pass. Looks like this guy doesn't want popcorn.
  107. <yzabtech[DM]> The second ogre watching the fight turns his head and looks at that first ogre, whose footsteps are starting to sound weaker, even as they get closer.
  108. <Minali_Pranta> Uh, drats. You used up all your paperkind back at the art gallery and didn't really bring any with you. Basilisk in front, ogre at the back. Is there a place to hide?
  109. <yzabtech[DM]> Roll perception.
  110. <Minali_Pranta> !roll 1d20+2 perception
  111. <Tyche[Dice]> (1d20+2) = [16+2] ==> {18}.
  112. <yzabtech[DM]> There's a small crack in the stone you can fit in.
  113. <yzabtech[DM]> It's just enough room to hide from the basilisk, and for you to fit.
  114. <Minali_Pranta> You clamber into the room. The basilisk and the first ogre can "work things out".
  115. <Minali_Pranta> ((err, replace room with crack))
  116. <yzabtech[DM]> The first ogre stumbles towards the basilisk, and gasps for breath.
  117. <yzabtech[DM]> The ogre collapses, on it's deathbed. The basilisk runs towards the ogre with a worried look. The ogre grunts something, probably saying something about how he's not going to make it. The basilisk starts to cry.

  119. <Minali_Pranta> You try to say "sorry" from the crack but you're not sure you're going to be heard.
  120. <yzabtech[DM]> The ogre says some last words that you can't understand, because they're grunts. It poofs into a pile of grist, and the basilisk breaks down into tears.
  121. <yzabtech[DM]> The second ogre and basilisk on the ledge put down their popcorn.
  122. <yzabtech[DM]> But hey, at least you gained a level. Welcome to Exceladder Rank 9, "Heartless Bastard".

  128. <yzabtech[DM]> ((add 1d6+con to total HP, heal your HP to maximum, and add 1 skill point and 1 stat point))
