  1. Abe R1

  3. First off, your intro is way too long. It shouldn't be a respect thread, just put the key feats you're going to argue in each category to summarize your characters' stats. And there are notable feats in here that you seem to just completely ignore for your actual responses.
  4.
  5. Mahito vs Mario
  6.
  7. * Mahito keeps up with characters faster than Mario
  8.
  9. * Mahito can increase his mobility through shapeshifting
  10.
  11. * Mahito can create powerful blades while Mario has no piercing resist
  12.
  13. * Mahito has good piercing/heat resist and regen
  14.
  15. * Soul Transfiguration gives him a wide variety of attacks
  16.
  17. * Domain Expansion ensures his attacks hit
  18.
  19. Morlun vs Luigi
  20.
  21. * Morlun is faster than Spider-Man, who even while lowballed is faster than Luigi
  22.
  23. * Morlun is stealthy enough to go unnoticed by Wolverine's enhanced senses
  24.
  25. * Morlun hits hard and Luigi's durability doesn't cut it
  26.
  27. * Morlun's endurance is too high for Luigi to overcome
  28.
  29. Hanami vs Mega Man
  30.
  31. * Hanami can keep up with Maki, who is very fast and obviously faster than Mega Man
  32.
  33. * Hanami flexes out from Toge's telekinesis which is strong
  34.
  35. * Hanami hits hard and can summon powerful roots
  36.
  37. * On the other hand, Mega Man is rather frail
  38.
  39. * Hanami is durable (wrong link, point invalid smh)
  40.
  41. * He has good piercing/heat resist and regen
  42.
  43. Abe is off to a decent start, other than the mislink (which is actually a pretty big deal since the arguments for Hanami's blunt durability hinges off it). Abe's statposting for his characters are good (but he could've definitely been more in-depth, especially since it sets up the rest of his arguments) and he sets up convincing win conditions for them. However, his arguments for Hanami are weaker. I don't buy the Toge scaling for Hanami the scan doesn't actually show him breaking out of it, it actually shows him being affected by it, and the Toge scaling feat used has him say "Crumble Away" not "Don't Move," which is clearly not the same command.

  48.
  49. I don't buy all the feats Josh uses in his intro to set up his characters. For example, he uses an Bowser doubling his weight in one game to destroy stone to Mario launching him in a different game (where there's no proof he's doubling his weight). A lot of his feats rely on things weight blabla tons which I don't think is off but I think it would be effective to give a real life equivalent to base it off of like "here's a real life rock smaller than my rock which weights blabla tons!"
  50.
  51. Mahito vs Mario
  52.
  53. * Mario is stronger than Mahito and can BFR him (you can't BFR in this map)
  54.
  55. * Mahito isn't durable
  56.
  57. * They both have comparable speed
  58.
  59. * Mahito scaling to Todo is fake
  60.
  61. * Mario's soul is strong and wonky, so Mahito can't affect it
  62.
  63. * Mario can resist transmutation
  64.
  65. * Mario piercing resist exist?
  66.
  67. Morlun vs Luigi
  68.
  69. * Luigi is comparable to Mario
  70.
  71. * Luigi is stronger and more durable than Morlun
  72.
  73. * They have comparable speed
  74.
  75. * Luigi has strong lightning, Morlun was affected by less
  76.
  77. Hanami vs Mega Man
  78.
  79. * Mega Man is physically worse than Hanami, but that isn't his strong suit
  80.
  81. * One of Abe's antifeats isn't even bad
  82.
  83. * Has a wide arsenal of weapons that would be effective against Hanami
  84.
  85. * Mega Man will most likely use fire against Hanami and his fire is stronger than anything Hanami has taken
  86.
  87. * Hanami isn't as fast as argued
  88.
  89. I think overall Josh does a decent job at laying down the stats of his characters and he also does a good job at putting suspicion into how good Abe's characters actually are. However, I'm not impressed with his feats that are basically just "hits heavy object a far distance" but fortunately he does have feats more concrete than that. It should be pointed out that Josh doesn't provide a feat of Mega Man using the Atomic Fire despite providing scans for Mega Man using every other mentioned weapon. It's probable there's an example of him using it, but hinging a win condition on an unproven point isn't smart. There's also things like the arguments against Maki's bullet timing being weird. It doesn't matter that it would harm her, she clearly reacts to it and shows the arm speed to catch it, it's a solid speed feat.

  94.
  95. Mahito vs Mario
  96.
  97. * Mahito's strength feat doesn't involve massive windup and is much better than how Josh describes it
  98.
  99. * Mahito was indeed hit by the attack and is durable
  100.
  101. * Yuji is strong af (Abe finally provides a proper link to show Yuji's strength) and the antifeat isn't as bad as presented
  102.
  103. * Josh uses a running feat from the beginning of the series despite Yuji getting better running feats
  104.
  105. * Yuji's speed feat is demonstrably better than the tier equalized feat
  106.
  107. * The speed scaling is sound
  108.
  109. * Sukuna is much stronger than Mario, so Mario wouldn't be immune to Soul Transiguration
  110.
  111. * Mario can't resist the transfiguration
  112.
  113. * The koopa transfiguration stuff isn't applicable
  114.
  115. * Mario explodes
  116.
  117. Morlun vs Luigi
  118.
  119. * Morlun is more durable than the output of single strikes from Luigi
  120.
  121. * It's unknown if the balls Luigi knocks back are even solid metal
  122.
  123. * Handbooks contradict actual comics and can't be trusted, with Spider-Man's actual speed feats being better than what the handbook states
  124.
  125. * Luigi doesn't have the endurance to keep up with Morlun and has nothing to counter the life force absorption
  126.
  127. Hanami vs Mega Man
  128.
  129. * Jogo's heat is hot
  130.
  131. * Barrier can stop acid and Mega Man announces his attacks, so Hanami would know to avoid it
  132.
  133. * Hanami has good piercing resist
  134.
  135. * Hanami can absorb plant matter to counter the leaf shield
  136.
  137. * Humans are hurt by bullets isn't unique to JJK (weird argument, an example from Marvel doesn't prove anything)
  138.
  139. * Hanami has best strength, durability, and speed
  140.
  141. Not a bad rebuttal at all, but I think you should use more bullet points to space out your points. And "quote->rebuttal" isn't aesthetic to look at for tourneys. Abe does a good enough job backing up the validity of his character's feats and scaling and calls into question Josh's claims, but it's clear when he reaches for a claim. Such as his defense for Hanami's heat resist relying on the assumption that since it burns much faster, it's clearly hotter than the direct number of Mega Man's heat. And using Quicksilver as the defense to the Maki feat just doesn't work.

  144.
  145. Josh R2
  146.
  147. * Josh's feats are better than Abe's when directly compared
  148.
  149. * Abe lacks win cons
  150.
  151. Mahito vs Mario
  152.
  153. * Mahito's argued strength and durability feats isn't that good
  154.
  155. * Abe hasn't proved Yuji had got magnitudes stronger
  156.
  157. * Mario won't be affected by the transfiguration
  158.
  159. * Abe admits shapeshifters are resistant to Mahito's transfiguration, Mario has a history of it (you don't actually really show that other than like Boo Mario)
  160.
  161. Morlun vs Luigi
  162.
  163. * The 15x faster reflexes than a person statement is an established consistency of Spider-Man
  164.
  165. * Spider-Man antifeats
  166.
  167. * Morlun is an incompetent fighter
  168.
  169. * Morlun didn't fight for 12 hours straight
  170.
  171. * Luigi has better physicals and an assortment of gear/magic
  172.
  173. * Has access to healing (bro you don't even show scan of them using it or how effective it really is, argue this shit)
  174.
  175. Hanami vs Mega Man
  176.
  177. * Hanami's given piercing resist is vague
  178.
  179. * Hanami doesn't have good heat resist
  180.
  181. * Leaf shield isn't actually made of leaves but metal
  182.
  183. * Mega Man won't be immediately defeated by Hanami and will eventually switch to weapons strong enough to defeat Hanami
  184.
  185. Josh focuses hard on his win cons and direct stat comparisons to Abe's given feats. He makes a solid case on some points but there are some iffier ones. There's claims like "all cast members can survive a hit from the Dragoon" but no evidence of the character's taking a hit from it is given. Although this seems to be a nonissue at first since the evidence of it is probably real, why not just put the effort to put it in then? Otherwise, the judges shouldn't need to trust a claim with no evidence backing it up. Considering this directly affects the matchup, it's a huge blunder.

  189. Mahito vs Mario
  190.
  191. Mahito wins. I don't actually think Abe argued this as effectively as he could have. He makes a huge ass intro with a bunch of relevant feats but fails to acknowledge a lot of them in his responses. One strength feat was countered? Just post the strong one instead of wasting so much character space on a feat that isn't even that great. Also like Josh pointed out, Abe doesn't actually prove Yuji becoming magnitudes stronger despite mentioning it multiple times through his responses. However, I think Abe still argued Mahito effectively enough to beat Mario. Despite Josh's claims against the JJK speed feats, I think as shown they're clearly really good and much better than the speed Mario is equalized too. Along with this major speed advantage, Mahito was argued and has been shown to be very willing to send out piercing attacks. Mario's given piercing resistance feats were non existent or actually lacked the necessary scan (Dragoon feat) to prove it. Josh may rage over this, but just show the fucking scan then in your arguments since they have a huge impact on the fight. It's iffy, but Josh does show kinda enough evidence that Soul Transfiguration doesn't work on Mario, but his very scan shows that the Magikoopas transfiguration deals damage to him instead, so Mahito is going to hurt him either way. I think Mahito is still pretty durable, so coupled that with his speed advantage and an ability to one shot Mario, I feel Mahito is advantaged in this matchup.
  192.
  193. Morlun vs Luigi
  194.
  195. Luigi wins. Morlun fights like a shitter and shows it. I do think Morlun and Spider-Man were fighting directly for multiple hours, even if not the full 12 hours, but the fights do show that Morlun is inefficient and doesn't really abuse his factual speed advantage against Spider-Man who lands and avoids more blows than Morlun. So even if Morlun is faster than Luigi, it wouldn't actually matter. So that leaves Morlun as a straight brick with life absorption against a brickier brick with better options, like the lightning powers which goes uncontested by Abe.
  196.
  197. Hanami vs Mega Man
  198.
  199. Hanami wins. Like mentioned prior, I don't buy Josh's arguments against the JJK speed feats. They're visually good examples of speed and Hanami is at least operating at a comparable speed to Maki/Todo/Yuji who are all shown to have much better reflexes than the equalized speed. While Mega Man may be able to defeat Hanami eventually with one of his weapons, I don't think it'll ever come to that. Hanami operates at a faster speed while having very powerful striking. The only durability feat Josh acknowledges is the feat of Mega Man being hit through a brick wall, only to correct Abe's interpretation of it. Even if Abe downplayed it as hard as he could with this description of it, the feat is still clearly much worse than the given feats for Hanami's strength, which Josh doesn't counter. Josh puts a lot of emphasis on piercing, but doesn't counter the fact that Hanami can effectively regenerate large portions of his body. Although Abe doesn't argue this as well as I think he could've, what he does argue is enough.
