At the hospital…

Stacy: Ugh… Um, what happened?
Luke: You collapsed.
Shawna: No, collapsing is an understatement.
Shawna: You had a stroke and a damn heart attack at the same time!
Stacy: What!?
Shawna: Yeah. So I’m cutting you off from those damn cigarettes. It’s harming you now.
Stacy: But-
Shawna: Bitch, no buts! If you really need nicotine, here's nicotine gum. But that’s my only compromise. I’m watching you from now on, I better not see a cigarette in your damn vicinity.
Stacy: Ugh, fine…
Laurence: What the hell happened!?
Luke: Long story.
Laurence: Well, I’m glad you're alright, Stacy. And now we have contact from Agent Norton about the payment. She wants to talk.
Luke: I’ll come with you. Keep watch of Stacy, Shawna. I bet she’ll try something.
Shawna: Well, why don’t we go for a walk at the ski resort, Stacy?


Talk to Paris Norton about the payment

Laurence: So? The payment is mysterious. Why?
Paris: Because, most of the serial numbers that she has paid have always been organizations, most likely related to crime.
Paris: However… this one is just to an individual, it’s also an international number at that, and we can’t make it out. All we can do is potentially track their phone when we get a signal.
Luke: And we do what when that happens?
Paris: Quickly get to their location, obviously.
Luke: Well, what’s the odds of that happening-
Ding!
Paris: We got a location!
Luke: Of course.. Where is it?
Paris: It’s… in Savannah’s office!?
Laurence: Say what? Quickly, we need to get to that office!


Investigate Victim’s Office

Laurence: Damn! Nobody is here!
Paris: Dang it! I thought we’d surely have an advantage!
Luke: I found a phone, it seems to be locked though.
Laurence: Quickly unlock it!


Examine Phone

Luke: There, now let’s see– Oh.
Phone: Owner not recognized, phone locked.
Luke: Well that figures.
Paris: Send it to the agent who’s on your team! Agent Riordan! He's able to bypass that!

Analyze Locked Phone

Laurence: So, did you manage to figure out who owns the phone?
Zak: No, it was wiped before anything.
Luke: What!? Are you saying this is a dead end?
Zak: You didn’t let me finish, even though it was wiped and factory reset, there is one thing the owner forgot about.
Zak: Agent Norton said the payment was to someone international. And, this phone’s default language isn’t set in English.
Zak: It’s set to Dutch!
Luke: Dutch? How does that–
Luke: Wait, are you implying this phone belongs to Toby Van der Heijden!?
Zak: It’s the only person who makes sense. I don’t really see the correlation with him being here as a lumberjack, and especially being contracted by the victim for a job. It makes no sense!
Luke: So many questions. I guess we’ll have to find him and talk to him!
Paris: Negative, he's split town. None of the other agents can find him!
Laurence: What the hell!? This mystery just gets deeper!
Laurence: Luke. You say Stacy interrogated him at the winter cabin, maybe you’ll be able to find something to see what Toby’s business is here, because it’s clear he’s not the job he says he is!


Investigate Winter Cabin

Zak: Find anything?
Luke: Something in the fireplace! Agh.
Zak: Why the hell would you grab it with your bare hands!?
Luke: Not the time! I need the dusting kit for this!

Examine Faded Paper

Luke: Aha! Some of it was burnt off, but I got a lot of it!
Luke: Uh… I can’t read it…
Zak: Oh, it’s in Dutch. I think Calum has a knack for languages, let’s see if he can translate.

Analyze Paper in Dutch

Calum: You were right! This paper… it’s of ancient material!
Luke: Um, what? We asked you to translate, not become a historian.
Calum: I don’t need to translate, I’ve seen this kind of paper multiple times with the MI6. It’s a hit request!
Luke: Hit request? Are we in an anime? What do you–
Calum: I’m saying, this is paper people discreetly send hitmen or assassins, and they get paid for the job!
Luke: Are you saying that Toby Van der Heijden is a hitman!?
Calum: Yep, there's no way he’s not! I contacted one of my MI6 buddies, his description matches someone who’s been notable for a few years! He’s a ruthless assassin!
Luke: Does that imply that his interrogations was all a cover up, and in reality his interaction with Savannah was that she was going to pay him to kill someone!? Do we know who?
Calum: Yep. It doesn’t matter that she’s dead, he already got the payment, and to not soil his reputation he’ll still commit the kill.
Laurence: Who was he paid to kill?
Calum: It was hard to figure out since that part of the page was burned, but half the name was eligible still so after fact checking–
Luke: Calum! Out with it!
Calum: The name is Ken Gaston!
Laurence: The mayor!?
Laurence: As far as I’m aware he’s still dealing with the issues in Celestial Hill! I don’t think he’s here!
Calum: Actually, he’s been spotted here in Central Peaks, no doubt that Toby is on the run to kill him before leaving the country!
Laurence: We got to stop him!? Where is the mayor!
Calum: We don’t know… He’s supposedly off the grid just so no bad actors go after him.
Luke: Toby probably knew if he was here! We gotta search the ski resort and see if he left anything else behind that’ll point us to where the mayor will be!

Investigate Ski Resort

Laurence: Ugh… the snow is getting worse now. How are you supposed to find anything in this weather?
Luke: Anything… that looks out of place. Like those purple pieces! I’m gonna put these together.
Laurence: Careful… don’t step on brown snow…

Examine Purple Pieces

Luke: Aha! I knew it! It’s a ticket… to the Central Peaks Carnival? That’s a thing?
Laurence: Of course! The mayor likes visiting the carnival in his downtime!
Laurence: Quickly, group everyone!

At the trailers…

Stacy: Please say we’re going somewhere else… Shawna keeps getting me to walk and I can’t take anymore… I need a damn cigarette…
Shawna: No cigarettes! I told you!
Stacy: Ughhh… please.. I need some kind of stimulation to distract me…
Laurence: Well, thanks to our findings we’ve discovered that the victim paid Toby to assassinate the mayor!?
Stacy: Say what!? Oh wow, that knowledge made me stop shaking…
Zak: Alright, I’ve contacted agents. We’re not letting anyone leave, or enter the carnival now.
Laurence: Alright! Quickly! We’re going to the carnival!
