  1. >Author's note: This is not a lewd story. I don't know how the hell "playing doctor" could be taken in a lewd way, but it shouldn't be, you goddamn degenerates. Shoutout to Teachanon and his good advice.
  2.
  3. Sayori gradually ascends from the realm of the unconscious, and her lidded eyes slide open to start the day. She glances upwards and observes the familiar texture of her bedroom ceiling. She then lies under the sheets for a while. Why not? Who would notice if she sat in bed all day? Who...
  4. She notices the calendar on the wall. A day one week from now is marked with big red strokes: "Anon's Birthday". That's right, he's going to be eight years old in a week. Aw, why can't she ever be the older one? She looks at the calendar again. Today's Saturday; maybe she can go play with Anon! She notices the sunlight streaming through her window and instinctively looks across the street to see him getting out of bed over in his house. She smiles brightly as she runs down to the door.
  5.
  6. You sluggishly stagger out of your bed and into a fresh set of clothes. You try to take a deep breath, but find that your nose was too stuffed up to do the job. One of your hands goes to your forehead to confirm that it's hot to the touch. What horrible timing: you don't even have any school to avoid today. You sulkily sit down to a bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs right when the doorbell rings. You open the front door to see Sayori's ever-shining smile.
  7.
  8. "Hi Anon!"
  9. "Hey, Sayori. What are you doing here?" Her expression weakens.
  10. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to play today. It's okay if you don't want to, though..." She turned to walk away. Did you hurt her feelings?
  11. "Wait Sayori! I'm just feeling sick, is all. I don't want you to catch it, you know?" She stands up straight, her eyes bright.
  12. "Anon, you're sick!?! That's awful! I'll fix you right up!" She runs into your parents' room and puts on a big, white dress shirt and puts on a pair of earbuds as her stethoscope.
  13. "Doctor Sayori is going to cure you now! Since I'm your doctor, you have to listen to me: I know what's best for your health, okay? So lie down." She points at the sofa and tosses you a blanket.
  14. "You don't have to be my doctor, Sayori. I'll be okay without one." She looks directly into your eyes, with hers welling up with moisture.
  15. "Are you sure? I only want you to be happy and healthy, Anon." She sniffed for good measure. She's so convincing that you're pretty sure that she's practiced this in the mirror a few times.
  16. "Alright. Fix me up so we can go play." You lie down on the couch and give her a weak grin to emphasize just how helpless you are without her. She shines all the brighter.
  17.
  18. "Alright, sit still while the thermometer takes your temperature! I'm going to get you some REAL food!" She puts a wooden popsicle stick in your mouth before running off to the kitchen. You lament the loss of your chocolate-frosted-heart-attack-in-a-bowl as you hear it being poured down the sink. A few minutes later, Sayori comes back with a pot of... something.
  19. She takes the stick out of your mouth and squints at it.
  20. "Oh geez, Anon! You've got a temperature of almost 300 degrees; you're burning hot! Quick, open wide!" She gestures to the mixture of fried chicken legs, water, a carrot, and uncooked pasta she holds in the pot.
  21. "Chicken noodle soup is good for you! Now here comes the airplane!" She shoves a spoonful into your mouth. It's a bit tasteless and sometimes crunchy, but it's not as bad as the "cake" she had made for your birthday. Maybe her cooking's improving. Nonetheless, the thought of downing the whole pot makes your stomach turn.
  22. "Wow Sayori, I'm feeling better already! I'm stuffed, too; what do we do now?"
  23. "That's an easy one: now you have to take a nap!" You groan.
  24. "A nap? But I just woke up an hour ago!"
  25. "That's alright, I can put you to sleep." She walked over to where your head was resting on a pillow.
  26. "Move your head so I can sit down." You oblige and she sits herself down where your head used to rest. She pulls your head onto her lap and starts running her fingers through you hair. What is she going to do? You look up to her face, and it's as if she's looking off somewhere far, far away. She's stroking your hair as she begins to sing. 27.
  28. Somewhere over the rainbow
  29. Way up high,
  30. There's a land that I heard of
  31. Once in a lullaby.
  32.
  33. (You try to remember--Is she in the chorus?)
  34.
  35. Somewhere over the rainbow
  36. Skies are blue,
  37. And the dreams that you dare to dream
  38. Really do come true.
  39.
  40. (Your eyelids lower...)
  41.
  42. Someday I'll wish upon a star
  43. And wake up where the clouds are far
  44. Behind me.
  45. Where troubles melt like lemon drops
  46. Away above the chimney tops
  47. That's where you'll find me.
  48.
  49. --
  50.
  51. Some motion eventually brings you back to reality. Sayori's looking at you, and your head is still resting on her lap.
  52. "Hi! Sorry that I woke you up, but I was getting bored..." You look at a clock and see that you were asleep for a good hour. Could she really have sat still for that long?
  53. "Do you feel better now?" She sits up, her attentive eyes searching for validation. You just want to get out of the house and play, so you roll with it.
  54. "Your treatment really worked, Doctor! I'm cured!"
  55. You're nearly killed by the death squeeze she gives you. "That's great, Anon! Come on, let's go play!"
  56.
  57. She tears off the "doctor shirt" she was wearing and runs out the door. You jump off the couch and go join her out in the woods. There's no limit to what you two can do today.
  58.
  59. --
  60.
  61. You and Sayori wake up in the camping tent in your backyard. Your lamp still glows in the firepit: you're not allowed to play with fire and had to improvise.
  62.
  63. "Hey, what do you want for breakfast?" She lets out a ferocious cough.
  64. "Oh, I'm not hungry... I think I'll go home and take a nap." Aw, man. You fetch the doctor shirt before you carry her to her bed.
  65.
  66. The end.
