  1. Harry:
  2.
  3. Luna didn’t enjoy sitting in the crowded Ravenclaw common room too much. Usually it turned out to be too overwhelming for her empathic self to be around so many people at once. She could manage to get through it when it came to her classes or eating in the Great Hall, but if she didn’t have to, she did her best to not be locked up in these kind of situations. She preferred to either spend time outside, in the astronomy tower, the library or roaming the castle. That way she had already found many secret rooms during the short time she had been a student at Hogwarts. She sometimes went on little adventures with her cat Merlin, who she had brought with her. She went looking for another pair of shoes that had been stolen by those mischievous Nargles, she perceived Merlin as a big help with his fine nose and senses. However they never actually found any of her lost things, she wondered what they did with them. It wasn’t anything too valuable after all… It probably was just about teasing her, they did like to get on people’s nerves after all. But it didn’t matter to Luna much… If she wound up without shoes, she could just walk barefoot or in her socks, that were printed with little Nifflers, she loved them. A quick warming spell prevented her from freezing her feet off in the winter.

  5. Today the blonde girl felt extremely vulnerable to her empathic abilities, nursing a headache since the moment she woke up. Even her gloves didn’t seem to work at keeping all the emotions in the room at bay, she felt them crawling over her skin, a whirlwind of feelings that she tried to block out. She felt like she might explode with all that she was experiencing right now, it was harder to tell what belonged to her and what belonged to the people surrounding her. She tried to concentrate, wrapping her arms around herself and closing her eyes, but it was as if nothing helped and she felt so full like she might scream at any moment. She quickly got up from the armchair she had been occupying and ran out off the common room into the hallway. Luna focused on evening out her breathing, leaning against the wall next to the hidden entrance of the Ravenclaw house. /It’s okay, you’ll be okay/ She repeated to herself, trying to be calm again.
  6.
  7. Once she felt like she could think more clearly again, she pushed herself off the wall and walked through the corridor. She decided to make her way to the astronomy tower, it was a quiet place, usually noone was around. She would sit in the window and gaze out at the beautiful landscapes that were around the Hogwarts castle. It always filled her with a warm, serene sensation. And she loved to be with the owls, too. They were amazing creatures, so wise and kind. Well… most of them at least. She knew there were some rascals between them as well, but she loved those, too, of course. Luna already felt more relieved as she walked up the stairs of the tower. This had been a good idea. It would definitely do her well on a day like this where she felt hypersensitive to emotions of other people.

  9. She gasped quietly when she got to the top and saw a boy already present. She blinked as she mustered him, before a light switched on in her head in recognition. “Oh… you-you’re the boy who lived!“ She said, in her soft voice, a smile was painted across her lips, her eyes bright with curiosity. “Harry Potter! I hope I’m not intruding? I’m Luna,“ she stretched her gloved hand out in greeting as she walked closer to him.

  17. It was a beautiful end of the day, the sky was changing colors from the light blue of today’s sunny day to the midnight black that surrounds the pale light of the moon. Luna was currently sat on the broad window sill, gazing out at the city of New York. It was truly a sight to behold, all the lights, the city bustling with life even at such a late hour. The girl was used to it from her life in London, but this seemed even a notch higher when it came to the liveliness of a town. Coming here to study the magical creatures throughout the United States had been in Luna’s plans for a while now. She finally got to use her holidays from teaching at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and started her adventure in hope of discovering new species, but also studying the habits and behaviours of already known ones. She always craved more knowledge, her curiosity not knowing any bounds, it was both her blessing and her curse.
  18.
  19. Luna shifted slightly where she was sat with her legs bend and pressed against her chest, her arms wrapped around them. She whined softly as a weird sensation went through her body, it was like a heat followed by a dizziness that made her eyesight go blurry. She had been feeling weird for the past couple of days, trying to ignore it though. She thought maybe she had exhausted herself while making use of all the port keys and disapparating to get from one place to another while she searched for magical creatures, but she wasn’t so sure about that anymore. Maybe she was coming down with something? Some sort of flu? Luna squeezed her eyes shut, resting her forehead against her knees as she took a few deep breaths trying to calm the dizziness.
  20.
  21. Not only was she suffering from those symptoms, but she experienced some memory losses. She would suddenly wind up at some place that she didn’t remember going to at all. It was getting scary, but she tried not to panic over it, she usually wasn’t a person, who did. Going through a war had taught her to stay calm when she needed to and keep a level head. Yes, sure, she had a dreamy, tranquil personality, but when she had to she could be a ’badass’. So even in a situation like this she tried to not have her fear get the best of her. She thought that maybe she had caught some foreign virus while moving through some of the woods on her adventures? Something she had no knowledge about yet… It could surely be that. Luna let out a soft sigh, swallowing and nodding her head to herself. /Yes, that must be it. You’ll be alright/ She thought. She could go to the magic hospital that she knew wasn’t far away, maybe they could see what it was. It could certainly be something of a magical nature.
  22.
  23. Luna closed her eyes and when she opened them again she wasn’t in her hotel room anymore. No… she was outside, standing amidst people passing through the busy streets of New York. She rubbed her eyes, but she was still here, she felt a person bump against her and she gasped as it seemed to cause the person to fly back though the air and hit the ground hard a few meters away from her. What was going on? What was happening to her? Was this some sort of dream? “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,“ she apologized in her soft, melodic voice, trying to sound soothing even if it was slightly shaky. She walked to the person, who was frantically trying to get up again. When she got closer, wanting to help, the person started backing away from her. “N-no… don’t come any closer,“ they said, and turned around to run. Luna was left there, blinking, trying to process what was going on.
  24.
  25. /Kill them, kill them now/ She suddenly heard in her head, a deep voice, it made a shudder go down her spine. She looked around, but couldn’t see anyone that was talking to her. She felt a sensation of rage and the need for aggression, for blood curse through her body. Being an Empath she often had to deal with all sorts of emotions that she wasn’t sure came from her or from other people surrounding her. She used the long, lilac gloves adorning her hands and arms to keep most of the overwhelming emotions at bay, but sometimes it didn’t quite work. Even after all these years she couldn’t find a way to truly control her abilities. So what was going on right now, wasn’t all that new to her, experiencing intense emotions that didn’t seem to be logically hers. She took deep breaths and tried to stay calm, trying to imagine cleansing herself of those uninvited feelings, but she could feel her body shaking with the effort. /Kill/ The voice in her head said loudly and the rage was so strong she couldn’t ignore it anymore, a scream passing through her lips as she felt a hot sensation crawling over her skin and then her body wasn’t under her control anymore. /No… no, what is this?/ She felt dazed, not grasping what was going, she could see everything like through a veil, she could see blood and could feel the bloodlust as she hurt the people around her… No, that wasn’t her, it couldn’t be her… She would never do anything like this. As she tried to look at her arms they were covered with something black. /Stop! Please stop/ She screamed in her head. /Why are you doing this?/ /They all deserve to die/ She heard as an answer. She tried to use all the power she had, all that she had learned from the years of trying to control the emotions of others crushing her, trying to will it away and to feel her own. The heaviness around her body disappeared, her vision looking sharp again, she gulped in air like she was starving for it. Luna quickly disapparated into an alley. Scared and also curious at what had just happened to her.

  30. Sometimes Luna would still dream about it. About how it all started, her new life in this zombie apocalypse. It must be a couple of years that passed since then, she wasn’t sure how many. Time felt different now, it flowed differently, slower. When in the past a lot of people would complain about days going by in a blurr, now time was dragging on most days. When the virus broke out, the blonde witch had travelled to the United States to look for the magical animals that resided there. Luna was very passionate about studying those, about finding new species, but also learning more about the habits and behaviours of the ones that were already known. On the day that marked the downfall of the world as it was known to everyone, she had been returning to her hotel after observing an Augurey, which she had found in one of the woods nearby. It was an owl-like bird with harp talons, a horned beak and an expressive face. The small girl held onto the straps of her back bag, a smile had been on her lips, because she was happy about the drawings resting in the notebook that was tugged into her bag. She startled and lost her footing slightly when someone suddenly bumped into her and then she noticed that people were running through the streets in what seemed to be mass panic. She hasn’t realised before, too engrossed in her musings about what she wanted to write about the Augurey into her blog. But now… now she saw the cars driving fast and the people, the screaming…
  31.
  32. She could feel her body trembling slightly at the memories. Back then, before she felt her own panic kicking in, she could experience that from the other people around her, it was so strong it took over her whole body. Luna was an Empath, she could feel others emotions, usually only upon touching them with her bare hands, but sometimes when the emotions were so intense or when there were too many people around they entered her, too. She wore long, lilac gloves over her hands and arms to control her empathic connection, but even that didn’t manage to keep the emotions at bay sometimes. In that moment all those years back it definitely had been difficult to switch off the panic and fear that bombarded her. Finding out what was going on, that it was some sort of zombie outbreak, Luna had tried to disapparate into her hotel room to quickly pack food and clothes, but she realised she couldn’t fully use her magic, when instead of her hotel room she apparated into some alley way in the city. That’s when she saw the first Walker, right in that alley. She fumbled for her wand, which was pushed into her jeans’ pocket. She fired a paralysing spell at the Walker, but took a shaky step back when it didn’t seem to take any effect and it kept jerkily advancing towards her, slowly but surely, baring its rotting teeth. She tried more spells, but none seemed to work. She felt the fear rise inside of her, the zombie now pressing her against the wall, she used her hands to fight it away from her before using her wand to stab it in the eye causing it to fall to the ground. Luna gasped in shallow breaths. This had been her first kill.
  33.
  34. Now walking through the woods she had lost count of how many Walkers she had killed. At some point she had learned how to operate guns, you couldn’t survive without these kind of skills anymore and her magic still didn’t seem to work on them. She could still use it for other stuff, but it seemed weaker. Luna assumed it had something to do with the virus, it apparently made magic less effective. Right after the apocalypse started the Ravenclaw had tried to use a portkey to get back to London so that she could unite with her father and friends, but it seemed that the passages had been blocked. She wasn’t able to travel through port keys or disapparation… which meant that she was stuck here and couldn’t go back home anymore. Luna missed them so much, even know, she thought of them a lot, imagining them alive and well. Maybe when this was all over she would be able to see them again. Today the blonde girl went out on a scavenging mission, looking for food and medicine, both were always needed. She had met a few groups of people since the apocalypse started, some of them had houses. However usually greed or some other ugly human emotions caused them to separate, to destroy each other. She was living with a group now, too, a smaller one. They had one house, with a fence build around it and a garden. It wasn’t much, but she wouldn’t complain, at least it meant she was in less danger. She often kept to herself, always being more of an observer than a talker. All her life people thought that she was weird, but she didn’t care, and she still didn’t. She went her own way, made her own decisions and mistakes.
  35.
  36. There was a small town somewhere closeby, they knew and that’s where she was headed. They were quickly running out off food, even if they managed to grow some vegetables on their own, it wasn’t enough yet. Their group consisted of ten people, they were kind, no one knew each other from before the apocalypse, but some had been together since then. Situations like this made the weirdest friendships happen. Luna sighed as she gazed up at the sky, it looked light blue today, sunny weather, the sort that put a smile upon her lips. No matter what happened Luna tried to stay positive, to enjoy little moments of normalness like this, it’s what kept her feeling alive, what kept her feeling like herself still.
