Save in front of the ball in the middle (from below)
buffer up save (hold up while holding start, or walk down up and buffer start)

Aim for frames 23 (21-25 are confirmed to be working)
ideally use the practice rom to callibrate this

start buffer before choosing squirtle ball

If you get a Squirtle that isn't on the list (assuming you did everything correctly) try going earlier.

Not sure if NPC timers can mess this up or if certain IGT seconds break this, but I successfully got this 5 times in a row so might be good idk
