  49. <a|Way> So
  50. * You are now known as WayofTime
  51. <WayofTime> Had an idea floating around my head today
  52. <WayofTime> Most of the sigils, etc, you only ever really craft once unless you need to replace them, right?
  53. <WayofTime> So if that is the case, maybe we should make the crafting method for those sigils different
  54. <WayofTime> What I was thinking is that either we can modify the rituals slightly or make a new system for Alchemy Arrays, where you can place down a base array (looks like a standard array, kinda bland and just a pale transparent white)
  55. <WayofTime> And then we can place a reagent of some kind which can be created by the other needed components in the alchemy set
  56. <WayofTime> This reagent can be placed on the array and it will make it change shape, darkening and turning the colour of the reagent. Once this is done, we place our slate inside of the array and it will start to float.
  57. <WayofTime> Once the array spins around and a bright effect happens, there would stand your sigil
  58. <WayofTime> So to make an air sigil, you would creage your basic array and place it on the ground. You then make an "Essence of Air" in the alchemy set that is made from a ghast tear, feathers, bones, and other stuff. You then r-click on the array with the Essence of Air - this changes the form of the array and the colour.
  59. <WayofTime> You finally click on the new array with a reinforced slate, and then BAM you get your sigil
  60. <WayofTime> Thoughts, TehNut ?

  63. <Vindex> WayofTime: my main concern would be minetweaker support for packs in the end :)))
  64. <WayofTime> Easy! The reagent + slate thing can be a recipe
  65. <WayofTime> And the recipe could take in a colour (Like, 0xFFE329), the reagent item, the slate item, and an image path

  69. <Vindex> Way: what do you mean by alchemy arrays?
  70. <WayofTime> Rotating circles of awesome?
  71. <WayofTime> Lines of arcane writing fueled by your blood
  72. <Vindex> so basically variant of rites
  73. <Vindex> not rituals from solid blocks, but fancy inscriptions
  74. <WayofTime> Yeah, I think so
  75. <WayofTime> Was mainly floating the idea first
  76. * Doty1154 (~Doty1154@2601:648:8002:ea78:fdb0:97b3:fc82:5e31) has joined
  77. <WayofTime> But visually it might look cool
  78. * WayofTime should learn GIMP cmd so that he can make images faster
  79. <Vindex> so basically you are saying - instead of crafting, you etch your slate with reagent
  80. <WayofTime> Yeah, through reagents and the magic of the arcane circle
  81. <Vindex> sounds good
  82. <WayofTime> The main reason is because, frankly, you only make each sigil once
  83. <Vindex> given most sigil you craft 2-3 times, this sounds fun
  84. <Vindex> at most
  85. <WayofTime> Early game sigils can just be crafting, since for instance the divination sigil is just writing a symbol on the slate
  86. <Vindex> and with living armor, it would be probably only 1x
  87. <WayofTime> Yeah, I could ...
  88. <WayofTime> Ooooo
  89. <WayofTime> I could have the upgrade tomes for the Living Armour (easy way that doesn't use training) created by this method
  90. <Vindex> hm, but most people would go with crafting then
  91. <WayofTime> Depends, because it will be a config thing
  92. <WayofTime> Well, some of them you won't be able to train, so it could be a good way to get them
  93. <Vindex> hm
  94. <Vindex> yeah, could be fine
  95. <WayofTime> But it might be a fun thing to try
  96. <WayofTime> Would make for cool decorations too
  97. <Vindex> what I would suggest is somehow streamlining different parts of BM
  98. <WayofTime> So they all mesh together?
  99. <Vindex> because simple spells vs. complex spells vs. bound armor vs. sigil looks like totally unrelated things connected only by LP
  100. <WayofTime> ...It was unrelated things, tbh :D
  101. <WayofTime> I've made the bulk of this stuff over 1.5 years ago
  102. <Vindex> well, and it is totally obvious when you play the mod :))
  103. <WayofTime> I'll make sure to change that
  104. <WayofTime> I'm thinking of a more "arcane arts using various arrays" type of structure
  105. <WayofTime> If we change enough of this, I think I'd feel comfortable calling this "Blood Magic 2"

  113. <WayofTime> Now...
  114. <WayofTime> The main issue will be that I have to make the bloody things
  115. <WayofTime> But I can manage, just will take a while
  116. <WayofTime> ...Ooo, I can make that a Patreon reward, make an alchemy array for someone and put in my mod

  120. <WayofTime> So, Vindex since it seems you're the only one here :3
  121. <WayofTime> Should I stick with the old style that I did with my arrays where I try to design them how they would actually work (http://puu.sh/lLLEI/bd028121f7.png)
  122. <WayofTime> Or should I stylize the center with the symbol that would end up being on the sigil?

  131. <Vindex> WayofTime: : well, honestly... those relays were not very readable. So either you make it so that it is very well distinguishable or stick with the old ones
  132. <WayofTime> Lemme get one ready for ya, and you can tell me
  133. <WayofTime> The "writing" is always giberish anyway
  134. <Vindex> honestly, it's more about background vs. writing..
  135. <WayofTime> Meaning? o.O
  136. <WayofTime> It's just hard to see?
  137. <Vindex> yes
  138. <Vindex> and it must not be rotating :D
  139. <Vindex> or maybe rotate it as a sign of crafting process
  140. <WayofTime> Aye
  141. <WayofTime> I'll have it only move when the slate is thrown in
  142. <Vindex> I could imaging something like Draw a circle - Spec a circle by signature item which will determine patterns - Circle changes to number of "chevrons" = items needed for crafting
  143. <Vindex> as you provide crafting ingredients, individual "chevrons" lock and light up
  144. * Frac|Sleep has quit (Ping timeout: 186 seconds)
  145. <Vindex> you provide sigil whirl and BAM Sigil
  146. <WayofTime> Light up as in a particle?
  147. <WayofTime> I was thinking to make it easier for players you would craft the reagent from the items first, add that single item to the circle, then add the slate
  148. <Vindex> dunno, can be particle, can be just graphics. whatever is feasible
  149. <Vindex> ah, ok
  150. <WayofTime> Adding the reagent would cause the circle to change colour
  151. <WayofTime> (And shape)
  152. <WayofTime> So you'd have a bland shape to start off with, one that is for "general crafting"
  153. <Vindex> I'm a bit influenced by witchery now, as in general I'm still playing witchery centered pack. just taking B2 thinking break :)))
  154. <WayofTime> Add the Lava Sigil mixture to the array, and now it is more complex and a deep red
  155. <Vindex> and then you provide sigil and bam
  156. <WayofTime> Exactly
  157. <Vindex> so you can have permanent room for sigil crafting
  158. <WayofTime> Either the array is consumed or maybe (probably best) just the reagent
  159. <Vindex> hm, so what comes to my mind is you need to make circle more complex for high levels of sigils
  160. <WayofTime> Yeah
  161. <WayofTime> This might be all I do for the lava one, bar a symbol and writing: http://puu.sh/lLQnR/d818bc7526.png
  162. <Vindex> if sigils where more powerful thing, I'd propose making upgradable alchemical forge
  163. <WayofTime> Which is the Alchemical Forge?
  164. <Vindex> so you can start with simple circles for your small sigil, but need to make some inscriptions also on the walls to contain higher pressure for higher tiers
  165. <WayofTime> Ok, so you're saying a base array is where your main crafting occurs, but you can place arrays on the walls to augment it
  166. <Vindex> could be like that
  167. <Vindex> would be neat not to enforce exact placing, so people can vary room design to their taste
  168. <Vindex> But this is hugely optional
  169. <Vindex> Is blood magic 2 still alchemy?
  170. <WayofTime> Undecided - It's not focused on the alchemy itself, I feel
  171. <WayofTime> It's more of pushing the materials through the arcane symbols while pumping the stuff with your energy
