  1. What is a Modern Warfare 2 'prestige' speedrun?
  2.
  3. Well, I'm glad you asked. Essentially, this speedrun starts from a completely fresh level 1, 0th prestige MW2 multiplayer file and attempts to level up to level 70 and 'prestige' (gain 2,516,000 exp.) as fast as possible, with timing starting as soon as you connect to the first multiplayer lobby and ending when you click the last menu option to prestige.
  4.
  5. This run will be using the most recent Steam version of MW2, which has around 700 people playing online at any given moment. What this means is that game types such as demolition, which have an extremely high match bonus exp. multipliers, are completely empty of players. This leaves only a few possible playable game modes for the speedrun: TDM, FFA and Search. While the majority of the current online playerbase is crowded into the first two, it seems like finding a Search lobby occasionally would not be that far out of reach and is something I might do.
  6.
  7. Potential problems I might run into include:
  8. -Hacked lobbies. When I bought this game on Steam a while ago, one of the very first lobbies I joined was a hacked lobby which unlocked everything for me and put me at level 70 instantly. While I have found this to be a very uncommon occurence as it has never happened to me since, the run will be reset if any hacks manage to influence how much exp. I have.
  9.
  10. -Loss of time. This first stream is going to be sort of a test run, as I'm not actually sure how long this is going to take. It is very possible and most likely that I will not finish a run of this today, on my first attempt. And that's ok, I am just trying to get an idea of how long this will take for the future when I can do a more serious attempt (if you can call it that).
  11.
  12. -BSoD. My computer loves to bluescreen for no reason at random times and it very well might happen when I am streaming. In case of this, I have a backup timer that I will be running on my phone so I can still continue the run if this happens many hours in. However, it is very possible that this will not be a problem at all.
  13.
  14. -Internet going out. Something that happens a few times a week, it comes back on again in a minute or two so it's not a huge deal but just a possible annoyance. If the stream goes down without warning this is most likely what happened.
  15.
  16.
  17. To time this run, I will be using Livesplit with a backup split program on my phone. However, this is just for convenience and I will be going by the far more accurate in-game time that tells me how long I have been playing in the end.
