Jiao never had two parents growing up; it was just her mother. She never knew her real parents as they died in a plane accident a few years after she was born, but her ‘mother’ adopted her soon after she lost them. Her mother was a scientist who worked for the DWMA and is pretty well-known for obtaining a witch soul early in her career. Ever since she was a child, Jiao was expected to be like her mother & be successful very early in her life. In school she always had to get the best grades and achieve whatever she could. Her mother’s harsh expectations always got to her as she wanted to be valued for her as a person, not what she did.

Because of her concentration on her academics and work, she never really got to make any friends during her middle and high school years. This led to her feeling very isolated & depressed most of the time, and she felt robbed of the normal student life that most kids got.

because of her lack of experience with interacting with people, Jiao often stays quiet when she’s with other people. she doesn’t talk much, even when she’s with her friends.

even though she isn’t her mother’s real daughter, she still gets her smarts from her. she was younger than most of her classmates during her school life because she skipped several grades.
 | DEPRESSED
she easily falls into a depression if she is very stressed & overworked, and once she falls into one, it’s very difficult for her to get out of it.
 | FULL OF ANXIETY
Jiao generally has anxiety about a lot of things. she worries about her future, her career, relationships (both existing & not existing), etc.. she gets worked up pretty easily because of her stressful past and does her best to avoid situations that she knows will trigger her.

Jiao is very bad at socializing and often doesn’t notice signs that other people would. (Like if someone dislikes her, or is getting bored by what’s she saying, etc..)
 | OBSESSED
whenever she gets a new idea or begins a new experiment, she gets obsessed with it and only focuses on that. she stops eating and taking care of herself, choosing to pour her blood, sweat, and tears into her work. once she starts, it’s hard to stop the process.

besides just getting obsessed with her work, she has a lot of odd ideas that usually involve people. she’s mutated then, harmed them in a lot of different ways, and usually manages to hurts herself in the process. once she sets her mind to it, she will do anything to achieve her dreams.

jiao does not have any self-restraint; she will do anything if she’s even remotely interested in it. she doesn’t think before she acts.

even though jiao doesn’t have many friends, she is fiercely loyal. she’ll stand up for them no matter what, and she’s a wonderful listener.
