Background: jie was born into a single parent family with 2 older siblings. being that his father had to work a lot to provide for him and his older brothers, they never spent much time together. he didn’t mind it very much, mostly because he had his brothers to keep him company. given his family situation, he was far from spoiled but loved to act like it when he was at school to receive attention from all the kids. though he had a good social life in school, he struggled in his classes. no matter how hard he tried, the things they were taught, also some things his friends talked about, went over his head. when he was around 10, they moved to busan, south korea for his father to find better-paying jobs and better opportunities for jie and his brothers. this made education even harder for him, not used to the language or curriculum. he didn’t have very many friends anymore either, most of the kids picking on him for not being smart and making fun of his way of speaking in broken korean. he was still always cheerful because he didn’t understand what most of the things that the kids said, just smiling and nodding which made them laugh even more. even when he was older and understood it, he’d hide his feelings by smiling and laughing along to keep people from knowing how it hurt him. his hurt and anger at being dumber than everyone else or being picked on for not understanding korean language or customs because he wasn’t born in south korea is what got him into rapping. it allowed him to express his emotions however he wanted and not be picked on for it. when his father picked up on his talent, he pushed his son to audition to be an idol but jie always refused, afraid to let other people hear him. around the time he turned 15, his father surprised him by taking him to audition for a rookie company called fm entertainment, picking a lesser known company to try and keep his son free from as much hate and bullying. jie was reluctant at first but he figured it’d be best to just go with it, figuring that he wouldn’t be accepted anyway. he didn’t plan on giving his all but he ended up doing so, letting out all the emotions he kept from others. when he was accepted, his first thought was to decline and tell them that it was just for fun but something made him decide not to do that. since then, he trained hard with the other trainees and made friends with them all. things were still hard for him but he found ways to cope.


Personality: jie is definitely not the smartest person you'll ever meet but he makes up for it with his cheerful and understanding nature. he never lets anyone see him upset so they don't spend time worrying about him or trying to stick up for him. he is also very childish, liking to sometimes act spoiled and pout over the smallest things. because of his less than average IQ levels, he doesn't get most jokes so he'll just smile and give a fake chuckle until he gets it and gives a real laugh out of the blue. he is secretly very sensitive, crying over the insults thrown at him once he's alone with his thoughts. he'll sometimes talk to one of the members about his feels but he has to trust they won't do anything about it. while he likes to be really childish, he is very passionate when it comes to the group and their music, sometimes taking things so seriously that they worry if he's okay. he is also a very competitive person, loving to play pvp games and gets very upset if he loses. he has a bit of a flirtatious streak, sometimes winking at the others  or giving cheesy pick-up lines.
