  1. Chronomythologist. The very word evokes a sense of mystery and awe. To the general public, that is what we are, mysterious madmen who are worthy of respect. We are those great adventurers that had the fortitude to go on the greatest journey of all, the journey back in time.

  3. For long ages, the problem of time travel seemed impossible. No one could fathom of any way to send a mass of particles backwards in time, no matter how advanced physics got. Even if someone managed that, there was still the pesky matter of all those paradoxes. No one wanted to be the one to actually test the theories on those. However, as history has shown time and time again, the solution to one’s problems can come from directions we wouldn’t have imagined. In this case, the solution came in the form of the discovery of the soul.
  4.
  5. At the time, it was one of the most significant discoveries of its time. The discovery of the soul redefined everything we thought we knew about ourselves and the world around us. To understand the nature of the soul was to understand our fundamental nature. No wonder then that the study of the soul quickly became the hottest academic discipline. Leading experts from other fields all flocked to soul studies to try their hand at examining the core of human nature. It was one of these experts, a Dr. Webber with a background in theoretical physics, who made a key discovery; the soul was detached from time as we know it. In fact, the soul seemed to be unaffected by time and space, but rather existed in a completely separate plane of existence. The soul was attached to the here and now by a tether, but what if that tether could be manipulated?

  7. Thus was born the Chronos machines. You simply lay in it and it sends the tether of your soul to the specified time and place. Voila, time travel. Through your soul, you can observe any time and place as if you were a ghost there at that time. The best part is, since the soul is intangible, there’s no need to worry about potential paradoxes. The process is risky and sometimes the soul fails to reconnect properly to the body. The further the time travelled, the greater the risk, and the stronger the tether required to be able to make it back. Of course this scares the living daylights out of most people which is why only the most brave and insane actually stick it out and become chronomythologists. I like to think I’m the bravest and most insane, which is why I’m the best. I’ve gone further back than any other before, and today I prepare for the ultimate journey.

  9. It’s a Sunday, the office is closed and no one is here except for me. My superiors wouldn’t exactly approve of this little trip. I strap myself in and mentally prepare myself. Going further back in time is risky, you never know if you’ll make it back. I’ve been going further and further, pushing the boundaries, and now, now I think I’m ready for the ultimate journey.
  10.
  11. I plan to go back all the way, all the way to the start of the Universe, and see what man can only imagine.
  12. Look out God, here I come.
