Specifically, a section of the force stationed near the outskirts of town. They're having trouble with a 'cult' of some kind, that's apparently trying to take control of some sort of demon that's been spotted throughout the city. Now, of course, all that's bullshit as far as the cops are concerned - but the cult itself has been deemed dangerous, as some assaults in the city have been linked to it. They want you to meet up with them and discuss the Beat further.

Morgan:
"Cops and... demons?"

Renee:
"See? All we have to do is go talk to the police. That so hard?"

"...weird, though, I didn't think they'd be in on this..."

Xiri:
"Wait until you meet them."

The hooded figure disarms herself and looks at the smouldering black pile before her. "This is a first. The shadow figure has become just like the shadow lord itself! Or at least its avatar..."

A stray few specks of water splash the effigy, breaking the camel's back. The crimson flames burn ever higher, licking the second story now. But their once-vibrant red color begins to fade to gray.

"He was someone exceedingly close to me, and he took many lives while in human form. He'll definitely take many more once ressurected. If you're not careful, he could be taking lives once again..."

"Uh," Morgan sprays Eddy as well.

Effigy:
Before long, the effigy is burning black - and then the flames explode. The resulting shockwave sends hot ash billowing across the street, and when the smoke clears, the effigy is gone. In its place...

"Yeah, we should check on him now that we can stop worrying about these dolts."
