Reasoning:

Disguising himself and infiltrating the city of High Hops once more, the Demon met a girl. And he took interest in her almost immediately. Not only was she able to handle being seen as an outcast for sticking around his disguised persona for so long, despite the paranoia people felt about him. But she was interesting enough to snag his attention away. Some saw her as just a loner who was down in the dumps, he saw her as something else.

A project.

She was filled to the brim with thoughts of self doubt, degradation, and many other nasty things that seemed to plague her. And so, after she decided to stay by his side, even after revealing himself to be the scoundrel of a Demon, he gave her a 'push'.

After cutting her to the bone she was given a gift. One of his eyes. It was a way to, not only eat away at the humanity that still remained within her, but to prove her worth to herself.

She needed to be broken completely before he was able to build her back up. And now, he could finally start to piecing her back together.

Reasoning:

Shin has revealed his true nature. No longer parading around as a stupid, blue haired boy, Halle is revealed the enigmatic and eccentric Kusiri in one fell, shocking swoop. Despite this, she does not part ways from the Demon despite every good inkling of sense saying she likely should have. Within the confines of the controlled Dragon Island now, she struggles to find her own proper niche to fit into, each new person she confronts being vastly different than the last.

After witnessing ascensions between Ivory and Sam in their battle versus Kusiri, he begins to advise her that some people? They need pushes, but everyone's 'push' is something different. He begins to ask her if she trusts him to administer that push upon her, and she entrusts it all to her-- much to her chagrin.

He cuts her open, down to the very bone to insert one of his own eyes within her flesh, to have it intermingle within her, to begin stripping and tearing away at her humanity. It is unlike any pain she's ever confronted before, her harrowing screams enough to attract Haruko into watching in horror.

One must break completely down before they are able to build back up. She is no different.
