  11. Have a listen to the following gentleman - he is just one of many on YouTube who I call BS on with their Russian (link in a moment).

  15. Though - *he does* seem to be living in Russia and *he does* seem to be able to "wing it" *he never* says anything difficult and speaks only words that are easily pronounceable (for a native English speaker).

  27. There is nothing difficult/tricky about the sign and anyone who has learned (at least some) Russian should be able to read it.

  31. I can show you other videos like this one. There are also some people working for "RT" who (in my view) only "pretend" to speak Russian.

  35. How they seem to do it is have several cameras set up with a phonetic transcript of what they're reading. They then read the script and using multiple camera angles cut it all together so it looks like a single fluent take.

  39. Obviously they need to know *some* Russian to be able to do this - but not much.

  43. When I listen to them - there does not seem to be any "understanding" in their head (if you know what I mean). Like - if you were given a phonetic transcript for a language you didn't know - you would be making the right sounds but your "eyes" would reveal you don't really understand the words coming out of your mouth.
