  1. [21:19] Shen says, "Ohtli."
  2. [21:20] Ohtli Tezcacoatl asks, "Yes, Shen?"
  3. [21:20] Shen says, "I've been looking to learn more about order magic. I was meaning to ask Eagleheart, but.. since you're here, maybe you could teach me."
  4. [21:21] Ohtli Tezcacoatl says, "That's something I could assist with. Though Ealgeheart and Zeriel are probably a little more potent than I am, I do have a fair bit of experience."
  5. [21:21] Ohtli Tezcacoatl says, "Most of it ties in with the spirits, however. "
  6. [21:21] Shen says, "I've never heard that."
  7. [21:23] Ohtli Tezcacoatl asks, "Never heard of...what exactly?"
  8. [21:23] Jesse, as if on cue, walks up!
  9. [21:23] Shen says, "Order magic having to do with spirits."
  10. [21:24] Ohtli Tezcacoatl says, "Moreso how it ties in with the lifestream, and how the lifestream is tied to the land, and then...well, some spirits are, in turn, tied to the land too."
  11.
  12. [21:25] Shen held his head. This was already starting to make smoke come out of his ears, and she had hardly gotten started yet.
  13.
  14. ".. Can we go somewhere more quiet? I'm already having a hard enough time grasping this." he quickly interjected. He didn't have the kind of smarts that she had. Even though he spoke eloquently, Shen was pretty stupid when it came to things that were too complicated.
  15. (Shen)
  16. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  17.
  18. [21:27] The Drakan glances about the bustling, lively square and concedes the point with a nod.
  19.
  20. "Somewhere quiet would do nicely. Please- lead on," she replies with a sweep of one of her metal limbs, gesturing for him to do so.
  21. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  22. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  23.
  24. [21:32] Shen lead Ohtli to a quiet clearing out in the wilderness, a beautiful meadow with an abundance of flowers at the center of what looked to be a manmade circle of stones. It was halfway encircled by a calm river. There was not a person in sight, except for Altair who seemed to be asleep. It was quiet, at least.
  25.
  26. "Okay, this will do."
  27. (Shen)
  28. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  29.
  30. [21:35] This meadow, unsurprisingly, is not unknown to Ohtli. Though she follows just behind she manages the path with sure footing. She pauses however as they reach the circle of stones. The Quetzal woman shivers and her feathers fan out.
  31.
  32. Something doesn't feel...right; she looks about, through the area rather than at anything in particular.
  33.
  34. "...I'd hoped the ghosts of this place were gone long ago. Who is responsible for the new ones here?"
  35. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  36. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  37.
  38. [21:37] "Ghosts?" Shen asked, taking a look around. He clearly wasn't as sensitive to the spirits as Ohtli was, because he was completely oblivious to any ghosts that were wandering this specific area. Although, he had felt some sort of disturbance whenever he was meditating here during the ritual of light.
  39.
  40. "I'm.. not sure. I hadn't noticed. Is it really that bad?" Shen asked, frowning slightly as he gauged the Drakanite's reaction.
  41. (Shen)
  42. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  43.
  44. [21:39] "There are worse places. Battlegrounds. Old cemeteries. Sites of ritual sacrifice. But...something happened here."
  45.
  46. She frowns. If it had been any other place their presence would be different. But these grounds held meaning for her.
  47.
  48. "You picked an interesting place. I'm going to guess you don't know the history of it, but it's surprisingly appropriate for the questions you've asked. Even without the -current- ghosts. Have you heard the name 'Eidolon' at all?"
  49. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  50. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  51.
  52. [21:42] "Eidolon?" he asked, rubbing the back of his neck. It sounded familiar, but only vaguely. He knitted his eyebrows for just a moment as he thought about the name, narrowing his eyes. But as much as his mind ran circles, he couldn't recall where he had heard that before.
  53.
  54. "Maybe. I think so, actually. I just don't remember where. Care to give me a refresher?" he asked.
  55. (Shen)
  56. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  57.
  58. [21:46] Ohtli gestures out to either side of her, to the little glade all around.
  59.
  60. "Unless my memory is fuzzy, what we are standing on used to be Eidolon. Here and the surrounding area. It was here before Huangzhou was. A city that was an offshoot of Gaiar Aetherius when it still stood," she says, beginning a bit of a history lesson.
  61.
  62. "I'll spare you too many of the details and try to tell you what's important. And what is important is...How do I put this..."
  63.
  64. She taps her chin, her brows furrow, as she searches for the exact words.
  65.
  66. "They managed to get ahold of a star. To twist it, and use it to power all sorts of the worst kinds of necromancy. Here on this very spot so many years ago. Decades by now."
  67. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  68. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  69.
  70. [22:01] After a few hours of dancing and playing the mystical music. Altair feels the presence of someone, so he stop.
  71.
  72. And glance towards the north, Wings? feather? A wind Drakan? How that is possible. The little mana spheres disappeared as he lost his concentration. It was already Dark so the boy walks gently in a non-hostile manner.
  73.
  74. " Hi there, I like your wings. " He said with a warm smile.
  75.
  76. (Altair)
  77. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  78.
  79. [22:10] The Drakan turns her head and looks in Altair's direction, just before he announces himself to the two beside the small river. She, too, gives him a small, benign smile.
  80.
  81. She is every inch a Quetzal that is sure. From the tips of those arching horns to the fullest extent of her wingspan. But that jarring blue...that's not normal, is it?
  82.
  83. "Ah. Thank you, little one. They're a treasured gift. What brings you outs so far from anywhere, hm?"
  84. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  85. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  86.
  87. [22:17] The boy scratches the back of his head and looks the honorable Drakan. "Well, I'm here to practice my music and my magic. "
  88. HE mentions and then stares at the wings, particular one when you get closer to it.
  89.
  90. Blue, almost like the color of the sky or the lake in her back. " A treasured gift...Oh, They are unique, I wonder what color mine will have when they go out. If they go out one day." Then he glances towards the center of the magic circle.
  91.
  92. "This place is really special to me, my friend, a fae, told me to come here to learn holy magic and practice it. " After those words the boy looks once more to the Drakanite.
  93.
  94. "I'm Altair by the way. "
  95.
  96.
  97.
  98. (Altair)
  99. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  100.
  101. [22:21] "An offshoot of Gaiar Aetherius? Right here?" he asked, looking down at the soil beneath him. He had only just awakened when the march on Aetherius occurred, having taken part in the slaying of demons north of here all of those years ago. A distant memory. But the settlement she spoke of was even more distant than this.
  102.
  103. "I understand why it may not feel right to you, then. That's horrible. I'm glad that it could at least leave this beautiful place. After what they did, it's some sort of solace. Right?" he asked, turning his eyes up from the ground with a sigh. His gaze turned to the approaching green haired lad.
  104.
  105. "Hello, Altair. My name is Shen. You pursue a noble goal, but be safe out here. It's dangerous."
  106. (Shen)
  107. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  108.
  109. [22:27] "Earned through service and sacrifice. I am quite proud of them- perhaps one day you'll earn feathers of your own color," she remarks. She doesn't bow. That's never been tradition for her people. Instead she closes a mithril hand into a fist and presses it over her heart. A tribal salute.
  110.
  111. "Ohtli Tezcacoatl. It's a pleasure, Altair. This place...Is good for such a thing. In spite of the spirits that linger. They shouldn't bring you any harm."
  112.
  113. The Elder glances back around, her eyes settling towards Shen.
  114.
  115. "The trouble became worse when the star detonated. It tainted the land here for a long time- some people forget that this was once a wasteland after Eidolon was destroyed. I say it is fitting because cleansing this place was earnestly my first test as an Order magi. To tend to the spirits of the land and clean up the wrong that was done."
  116. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  117. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  118.
  119. [22:34] "Nice to meet you Shen" Altair said turning his gaze towards the guy and then looks back to the Elder Drakan.
  120.
  121. "It's a pleasure for me as well. " And then nods. "Maybe, I really wanna train to be strong and have pretty wings, as all of my kin has. " He added and for a moments stay there quite looking around the area analyzing all the beautiful place.
  122.
  123. It doesn't look like a waste place, all the nature, all the calm and beautiful aura that surrounding this areas was perfect. " Thanks Shen, I now the Dangerous that lies in this area but also I'm not that weak.! " The young Drakanite gives a kind smile once more to the guy.
  124.
  125.
  126.
  127. (Altair)
  128. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  129.
  130. [22:41] ".. It detonated here?" Shen asked, taking a look around. He found it somewhat hard to believe, that the star had exploded here and tainted the land. It was nothing like the mountains, this place was beautiful. It gave him hope that those other places had a chance to be cleansed as well.
  131.
  132. "I see. Order magic truly is a wonderful calling, if it could clean up after that much. If what you said is true, I think that you did a wonderful job, Ohtli." he commented. "I hope that once I'm finished learning, I can help do something of that magnitude. I just need to understand it more."
  133.
  134. The man turned back towards Altair, smiling. "Oh- I never said you were weak. Vampires and demons, these are creatures that take multiple men to topple. There's no shame in taking a friend. You'll enjoy yourself more with the company, anyway."
  135. (Shen)
  136. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  137.
  138. [22:49] The Drakan smiles more broad, with unmistakable...pride. Satisfaction. Ease. She looks around again to admire the aftermath of her handiwork that had happened so long ago.
  139.
  140. "I was not alone, thankfully. I had others with me to help in the matter. Their contributions should not be understated either. But...it is good to see that it isn't the plague infested lands they once were.
  141.
  142. "But this is what I mean when the lifestream is inextricably tied to the spirits. Spirits not just of mortal life, but of the land itself. It is a more...Gehennan way to look at things, to be sure. Spiritmancy helps me more than Order does, but the two truly go hand in hand."
  143. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  144. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  145.
  146. [22:57] " Yeah! you could have a lots of fun with friends, also in case that you need help to fight bad people. " Altair doesn't believed the part of the Demons, all of them were more neutral in his points of view than actually bad.
  147.
  148. In the others hand those that hurt the live force, like vampire and the people of Dawn, they are actually the one that the young drakanite think are the bad.
  149.
  150. For a moments the boy stays quite trying to follow all the thing that the older and the boy were talking about. " Hmmm, What do you meant with Orden, I've heard about spiritmancy and connection with the spirits. I also play music because I believe it's a form to connect with the sound of the forest and therefore with the lives that it in it. But I never heard about order." After explains that Altairs stares at the great Drakanite.
  151. (Altair)
  152. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  153.
  154. [23:02] Shen nodded to Altair, before turning back to Ohtli. He seemed quite interested in the cleansing of Eidolon, whether her outlook was Gehennan or not. There may have been a time where he needed to cleanse things in a similar fashion. When it came time to purge the mountains of the Nethradin there, it may be his responsibility. Eagleheart and Ohtli were getting old, after all.
  155.
  156. "How did you do it, Ohtli?" he asked, lowering himself onto the grass and taking a seat. He rested his shoulders, crossing his legs. They may have been in for a long winded talk, so he may as well get comfortable. "Was it like what we did in the mountains, or something different?"
  157. (Shen)
  158. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  159.
  160. [23:09] Old or not, Ohtli was still full willing to do her work. If the shiny new mythril arm she's sacrificed wasn't enough evidence. But she was no spring chicken any longer. The threaded iron grey in her once stark black mane was evidence of a different kind- as close to the lifestream and the spirits as she was, age is not something she's immune to.
  161.
  162. "No, Eidolon was...different. I hadn't learned much of all the ins and outs of blood rituals then. That came later. Eidlon's corruption had a source that was...living, in a way. We could have tried to scrape away at the edges of the corrupted lands, but it would have always returned.
  163.
  164. "Like a sickness, you have to treat it at its source and...well. For lack of a better word, cut it out. The remnants of the star had taken on a consciousness and become corrupted. Things got better after it was ended, then it was a different kind of task. Over time I would come here to the plagued lands to meditate and..."
  165.
  166. She pauses once more to search for words, the best she can think of to explain it.
  167.
  168. "You see. When the death and destruction and corruption's source were gone, it left a void. A hole. I would come here, meditate, and encourage the lifestream to flow back into place as it had before. It is very much like a river, in that way."
  169.
  170. Altair asks a question too. A very important one no less.
  171.
  172. "Order is a specific type of magic in the Arcane. Typically difficult to tap into. It requires devotion, sacrifice, a desire to protect. Even love, some might say, is at the root of Order. It's growth. It's life."
  173. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  174. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  175.
  176. [23:17] " Lifestream... " those were the only words that came out of the mouth of the boy.
  177.
  178. After hearing the full history of the elder Drakan, The boy could understands why this place felt so calm, so quite, mystical and powerful. Could it be for the exceptional power that those magi did to move the lifesteam back to this place.
  179.
  180. Jade hues stares at Ohtli while she finished her speech. " Protect? So it's like the holy magic in that case? It's sound really hard to learn and also very demands. " Altair crossed his arms.
  181.
  182. "You should be very powerful in that case Ohtli. Our father should be very proud of you. "
  183.
  184.
  185. (Altair)
  186. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  187.
  188. [23:28] "Giving your own blood must be a way to quicken the process, or make it more potent. That's what I can assume, at least." he commented. The whole thing seemed very tribal to him, definitely befitting of a Gehennan order magi. But, it wasn't quite his style. He'd need to figure out his own way of imbuing rituals with mana.
  189.
  190. "Coming here in meditating, to have the lifestream flow here.. it's not much different than what we did on the mountain, if you think about it. Although, it was a lot more hectic there. We flowed order magic into the ritual, but.. we didn't exactly have enough time to sit around and meditate, and we had those relics as well." he recalled, scratching his head.
  191.
  192. ".. And, your arm." he grimaced, looking towards the prosthetic that replaced it. Zeriel had treated the injury quickly, but seeing the woman delimb herself was an image that was still fresh in his mind. He sighed. His ignorance in that moment was still something he regretted, and he wanted to get better at order magic so something like that wouldn't happen again.
  193.
  194. "What do you suggest I do to get better, Ohtli?"
  195. (Shen)
  196. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  197.
  198. [23:38] "Our father? Do you mean Quetzalcoatl? I always saw the Serpent as a her...but regardless, they have never abandoned me in my hour of need. Nor have they seemed to be displeased with my work."
  199.
  200. She looks off wistfully for a moment into space. Ah, how she misses hearing that voice...but in her current state such a thing is unwise.
  201.
  202. "In a way, giving blood does that. The spirits are empowered by pure mana, but the force of life we can offer. And there is nothing more noble, more pure than sacrifice. That is something many often forget. And I know many, especially of Dawn and Huangzhou, find the practice barbaric."
  203.
  204. When she returns to reality, so to speak, she looks down at the arm as if she were seeing it for the first time. Ohtli lifts the hand, flexes the metal joints, and examines them closely.
  205.
  206. "I can perhaps make some white oil. But...it seems like such a waste," she says with a dry little laugh.
  207.
  208. "Don't weep for my arm. I've sacrificed limbs for far worse things. To lose it for such a thing was a worthy cause. I would have done the same a thousand times over.
  209.
  210. "As far as what you can do to get better? Do you mean with purifying? With cleansing? I'd suggest leaving yourself open to the spirits. They are a great help in such matters. Or do you mean something else when you say 'better'?"
  211. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  212. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  213.
  214. [23:50] "Oh yeah, It could be our mother, I think it would be more prettier that way. " The boy giggles for a moments, just thinking about the Great Serpent with lips, but then shook his head to forget that childish idea, Quetzalcoalt need to be respect after all.
  215.
  216. "Anyways, The Great Serpent should be proud. Since you are doing a great job in this world. " The boy listen to Ohtli and then a moments of inspiration hit the boy in the more deepest part of his hearts.
  217.
  218. Altair uncrossed his arms and with the flute in his hands the boy lift it and place his lips in the hole of the instrument.
  219.
  220. he close his eyes and starts to blow the wind into the instrument. Moving gently his right hands in the right position a beautiful tone begins to emerges from the flute.
  221.
  222. This time it was a happier, honorable and Homesick melody, like the spirits were talking through the sounds making a calm melody, The mana around the boy begins to condense and it move swiftly with the wind magic of the boy.
  223.
  224. After a two minutes the boy stops playing the music and looks back to the Drakanite.
  225. "This was how you story make me feels, It a ode of how committee you are with the life force and the good spirits, to sustains the peace."
  226.
  227. (Altair)
  228. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  229.
  230. [23:56] "With.. purifying and cleansing I suppose, yes. I would like to become a better order magi. Since purification seems to be your forte, I'd like to learn how I can become better at it while you're here." he answered. It was a noble calling, to bring back ruined places like Eidolon back to their natural state.
  231.
  232. Shen looked over to Ohtli from his position on the grass, ready to hear what she had to say.
  233. (Shen)
  234. [00:02] The Drakan sways for a moment, listening to Altari's lilting, mournful tune. When it ends she sighs and smiles in spite of its more doleful notes.
  235.
  236. "You're good with that flute. Always been fond of music; my husband likes playing the violin for me," she remarks. Then her smile fades and she regards her arm again. Spirits above, that's going to be awkward to explain to him still.
  237.
  238. Finally she deigns fit to sit down beside the river, alongside the Qilin.
  239.
  240. "Then communicating with the spirits cannot go amiss. And understanding how they can help or harm in such things. When the spirits grow weak and are harmed, the land follows suit. But when they are bolstered, when they are strengthened, the land thrives.
  241.
  242. "Eidolon, Atl, the northern mountains. They all share that in common. Apart from the spirits, since I know not many enjoy walking that route...understanding the flow of the lifestream. Learning it. That is another wayyou might improve. If you can coax it or encourage it this way or that, it can go a long way to healing tainted lands. Never, -ever- push it. That is something for Chaos."
  243. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  244. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  245.
  246. [00:10] The boy heard all the words of the Drakanite, she spoke with so much true. Ohtli a name that the boy would remember for a long time as the Wise Elder.
  247.
  248. " Thanks for that. I would like to hear the violin of your husband one day. " After those words and a gently smile Altair looks arounds and he decided that it was time to go back to where he belongs.
  249.
  250. He listen all the tips that the drakanite advised to Shen and he would keep it to himself. " Thanks for all, It was a pleasure to meet such a Great influence as you both are and I Really hope one day our paths can cross again. Spirits protect. "
  251.
  252.
  253. (Altair)
  254. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  255.
  256. [00:19] He briefly turned to Altair and waved. "It was good meeting you, Altair. I hope that we meet again too. Have a safe journey back to wherever you're going." he told the Drakanite boy, before turning his attention back to Ohtli.
  257.
  258. "Communicating with the spirits.." he echoed, placing his hands on his lap. Briefly, he slipped into a state of meditation. Heeding the woman's words as he drew his eyes shut, taking in a deep breath. Taking note of every subtle shift in the world around him. The rustling of the trees, the waves as they rolled up to the shore. He allowed them to enter his senses.
  259.
  260. It didn't take him long to notice the spirits that Ohtli were talking about when they first arrived. He may not have been as sensitive, but he wasn't completely blind. He felt the ghosts crawl around him, the lifestream having been disturbed in this spot. Maybe working on purifying this place could be a little project of his.
  261.
  262. He opened hiseyes. "I realize what you were talking about now. It's worse than I thought." he muttered, drawing out a sigh. "I'm sorry that someone did this to all of your hard work. I don't know what happened here, but maybe it would be good practice."
  263. (Shen)
  264. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  265.
  266. [00:23] The Drakan turns, giving Altair a wider, renewed smile and a nod.
  267.
  268. "Spirits protect, and the Serpent's winds guide you. If ever you want to speak feel free to find me in the Crafthold. I'm always happy to talk."
  269.
  270. She sends the youngling on his way with good-will and another tribal salute. Then back to a lesson for the Qilin.
  271.
  272. She may not bet he warrior she once was, but as time draws on she can only see and feel the spirits more and more. Even now Ohtli can spy the shifting apparitions around the pillars of stone, faces she can swear she can dimly recognize...That in particular she tries not to ponder on.
  273.
  274. "It...it will not undo all of it. It is still a sad thing to feel. Life was lost here. There is confusion. Madness. Do you feel it too? Yes. Good practice, certainly. Normally I would make an offering of blood to placate them. Something tells me that's not quite your 'style'."
  275. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  276. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  277.
  278. [00:24] Altair waves and walks out.
  279. (Altair)
  280. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  281.
  282. [00:24] Altair says, "I will do it."
  283. [00:34] "I think I have something in mind. Not blood, but.. something else. I'll show you." he told Ohtli. A way of fueling this ritual that was unique to Shen alone. The man outstretched his hand, holding his palm upward. The man tugged on his soulbond, drawing from an external source of raw mana. One that was born from faith in his path.
  284.
  285. It was an energy source that originated from the divine.
  286.
  287. A blue flame lit up in Shen's palm, giving off an ethereal glow. The cerulean brilliance seemed extremely potent, nearly blinding. Densely compacted into that ball of raw mana, it was an amount of energy that he couldn't have plausibly conjured on his own. Not in that amount of time. Shen elaborated.
  288.
  289. "This is mana that comes from the Emperor. It doesn't come from me, but it's mine to wield. I'm bonded with him, although he is far away in the higher planes. That is what being a Qilin means, but I've honed my connection."he explained.
  290.
  291. "Maybe, I can use his light as a beacon. To guide the lifestream to this spot. That will be my offering. Do you think that it will work?"
  292. (Shen)
  293. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  294.
  295. [00:41] The Drakan's head tilts, the slit pupils of her eyes slimming at the sudden flood of azure light. Not at all dissimilar to energy magic, or the magic of the 'Supermagi' she'd seen Zoldak wield- now that's a name she hadn't thought about in a while.
  296.
  297. "It may work to help fuel it. So long at it is sacrificed, given freely, and pure. I know admittedly very little of your Emperor. Many Qilin haven't liked me much, or at least liked me long enough for discourse."
  298.
  299. She continues to contemplate the pulsing flame of raw mana. One of her metal hands lifts and little sparks of ghostly fire of her own dance translucent along her fingertips before fading.
  300.
  301. "Perhaps. If it were yours to give, a part of you? That would work for sure. In that case of this mana from the emperor, I can't say for certain."
  302. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  303. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  304.
  305. [00:43] Ohtli Tezcacoatl says, "The notion of sacrificing something that is technically not yours is...strange to me."
  306. [00:49] "I'm sorry about your past experiences, but let me explain. We are his hands - meant to exemplify his teachings and carry on his will. And, for a purpose such as this.. there would be no greater honor than to use my gift in this way. For that reason, I believe that it is mine to give. It is why I was awakened here in Agartha, after all." he elaborated.
  307.
  308. Shen drew his eyes shut once more, taking in a deep breath as he entered a trance-like state. Allowing all of the sensations of the nearby area to enter him, but also allowing the Emperor's mana to flow into his body like a river. The light only grew stronger, shrouding his body in a blinding cerulean brilliance as he focused.
  309.
  310. Was he attempting it now?
  311.
  312. He became the epicenter of an enormous beacon of raw mana, a densely compacted wealth of spirit. Utilizing his influence over the arcane, he drew on the lifestream and guided it towards this area in particular. His body was completely still, but something extraordinary was happening around him.
  313.
  314. What may have been the first session of many, he planned on meditating here to place the spirits at ease as Ohtli suggested. His way of doing it was guiding them towards the Emperor's light, rather than offering his own blood.
  315. (Shen)
  316. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  317.
  318. [00:56] They may not have shared beliefs, but they shared a purpose. And if someone wanted to learn to purify, to cleanse as she did, who was she to deny them? No one, that's who. So few walked the path as it was, much less someone reasonable. Not that she knew enough of the Qilin to truly judge that just yet. Time and experience make her cautious. Shrewd. Cynical, as the Serpent's wisdom advises.
  319.
  320. "I don't blame you for those sins, Shen. They're not yours to carry. I'd be willing to discuss more about that at some time, but now perhaps is not best."
  321.
  322. She scoots back, shielding the light from her eyes. Her first instinct is to lend her own efforts to the caused. This is a perfect opportunity to test, to learn.
  323.
  324. And, unfortunately, the arm she'd grown accustomed to letting blood from was now missing. Mostly the first part though.
  325.
  326. Ohtli sits and observes in perfect silence, watching and absorbing information as best asshe knows how. Though she can swear she sees the shifting of spirits out of the corner of her eye.
  327. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  328. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  329.
  330. [01:07] The ritual continued for a while, Shen kept his focus as he lulled the spirits into a state of ease during his meditation. The light of the Emperor was indeed his own to give, and it worked as an excellent offering for the ritual. Qilin were humans that had been modified to use his power, so it wasn't necessarily like he was borrowing it.
  331.
  332. Eventually, it was brought to an end. His light flickered and faded away, his eyes opening. The Qilin panted raggedly, sweating. It did take some toll on him to draw on that power for so long, so he was making a sacrifice in a sense. His own lifeblood - not offered by a cut or a wound, but from the spirit that made him who he was.
  333.
  334. In that regard, perhaps it was more pure than bloodletting.
  335.
  336. The spirits in the meadow were more at ease now, definitely not in as much disarray as when they first arrived. But, there were some loose ends to be tied up. Still, stray ghosts wandered aimlessly. Unable to find the Emperor's light while their brethren flocked to it. There was more meditating to be done in order to communicate with them.
  337.
  338. "I think.. it worked." Shen noted, through bated breaths. He stood up off of the ground, wobbling slightly. "Thank you for teaching me, Ohtli." he told her, smiling. Although he found his own way of doing it, he seriously couldn't have figured it out without her.
  339. (Shen)
  340. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  341.
  342. [01:16] Whatever mana he was using, whatever force or its source, it did seem to be some manner of sacrifice, some manner of lifeforce. That is, in the end, what matters.
  343.
  344. Her face betrays some concern for the Qilin as he wheezes and draws the ritual to a halt. She scans the clearing to see the results of his labors.
  345.
  346. A few faint and whispy spirits still lingered, hiding their faces behind the pillars of stone. Many were gone, passed on. As it should be.
  347.
  348. "It is better...Yes. You are welcome. I hope that you put the knowledge to better use than others I have taught," she replies sincerely.
  349.
  350. "And thank you yourself. It is more at peace here. I can feel that much."
  351. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
  352. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  353.
  354. [01:19] Shen nodded. "Don't mention it. Although, it looks like there is still more work to be done.. right?" he asked, noticing Ohtli scanning the area. The Qilin stood up, taking some steps towards the elderly woman and offering her a hand so that she could do the same.
  355.
  356. "Here. Let's go back to Huangzhou. Maybe Zeriel has returned."
  357. (Shen)
  358. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  359.
  360. [01:19] Ohtli Tezcacoatl says, "A little."
  361. [01:20] Ohtli Tezcacoatl says, "The work you've done here is good."
  362. [01:21] The Drakan starts to rise, reaching out to take the young Qilin's hand to help her to her feet. Another cruel reminder of her age, even if Order kept its more outward appearing effects at bay. Bah.
  363.
  364. "Yes. Let's. And if you ever need for a talk or a lesson of any kind you know where to find me, hm?"
  365. (Ohtli Tezcacoatl)
