- Bio:
- Camille is the second daughter of three children. Her family is minor nobility, but nobility whose fortunes over the years have been in a slow but continual decline.
- She was never the favorite child - her only brother was to be her parents' eventual heir, and her elder sister displayed a knack for intrigue that she did not - but in time, her parents came to accept her for who she was.
- This came with some benefits, at least. If the peasantry saw her shadowing the local healer or gravedigger during their rounds, discussing magic with a wandering pilgrim, or visiting the local temple, they would at least feel a more personal connection with their masters - and perhaps this translated into loyalty or less shirking of their duties.
- But the opinion of peasants mattered little compared to the opinion of other nobles. Decades ago, her family had been close with the Argavens - until the business with the Barguedocs. Two of her great-uncles were killed during that conflict, almost extinguishing her family line at the time, and her family distanced themselves for fear of further retaliation. In the past twenty years, her family has cautiously resumed aiding the Argavens, lending them help where it could be afforded.
- A year ago, when the news came of the Imperial allowance, her parents immediately sent Camille to the Argavens to assist in preparations and curry favor - a permanent arrangement until further notice. She has since proven herself on the former task, but seems to be slacking on the latter.
